A friend found this on Drudge today and sent it to me.
Heres the text:

SENATE STAFFER BUSTED FOR CARRYING WEBB'S LOADED GUN: Phillip Thompson, executive assistant to Senator James Webb (D-VA ), has been arrested by Capitol Hill Police on Monday for 'inadvertently' holding the senator's loaded gun, according to a person close to the investigation. A Senate staffer reports that Thompson was arrested for carrying the gun in a bag through security at the Russell Senate Office building while the Senator was parking his car. Thompson was booked for carrying a pistol without a license (CPWL) and for possessing unregistered ammunition.
Statement by Jessica Smith, Webb Communications Director:
"To our knowledge, this incident was an oversight by the Senator's aide. Phillip Thompson is a former Marine, a long-term friend and trusted employee of the Senator. We are still awaiting facts." Developing...
WTF? Ammo has to be registered on Capitol Hill?

as an example, it is a felony B PER ROUND in new jersey to have hollow point ammo for a handgun in your possession. this is probably they type of thing that they are referring to. LEO only, or you must have a permission slip from daddy big brother to have the stuff in certain areas.
kind of like the 12 gauge bird bomb thing, where you fill out a paper stating you are using it for birds, and what property they will be used on.

Huh. Well I'll be damned.

Look for the Capitol Hill police officer to be reprimanded, reassigned to guard duty at a public lavatory and the charge will be dropped on the aide.
For God's sake! They won't even prosecute William Jefferson, Dem. Rep. from Louisiana! ($90,000 in marked bills in his freezer)

sorry, should have clarified what I said. in a lot of states, not all. fireworks laws are the issue with them, I think.

Joe,I think you have to sign a form provided by the seller of (said) birdbombs, stating they will be used for pest control (as opposed to 4th. of july celebrations, and the like!).At least that was the case here in PA,there may be far stricter controls on them elsewhere. Also,i'm referring to the type with a fuse, similiar to an M-80;there was a gun shop in the area who had some a few years back, for something like two bucks apiece.

well, part of the PA law, from my understanding, is that you dont have fireworks that go BOOM that are allowed. I thought.

Yeah,PA is pretty strict (snappers and crackling balls only),but at the time that the gun shop had them for sale ( a few years back),you could purchase the 'pest control' salutes after signing said forms, (the salutes had 'pest control use only' stickers on them).Don't know if that's still the case,as I havn't looked for any since then (and it's easy enough to find the "other" kind at the local flea markets!).
Just did a search and could only find launchable birdbombs, none with a fuse. The feds probably put a stop to them long ago.
Joe,which gun chewed up your shoulder?.Btw,the usas was packed with crud when I broke it down, mostly bits of plastic melted to everything (i'm guessing the buffer from the buckshot rounds).Guess it needs cleaned after EVERY use-too high maintenance to suit me!.

bvamp,
Hollowpoints are legal in NJ and are subject to the same rules and restrictions in use and transport as regular ammunition. That basically means you can keep them at your home and you can transport them to and from the range. If you stop at a convenience store on the way home from the range and (for whatever reason) end up having your vehicle searched you can pretty much bend over and kiss your own ass goodbye because your weapons will be confiscated and you will be arrested.
I have 147gr hydrashocks in my 9mm pistol and later today I'll be buying 230gr hydrashocks for my .45 at my gun store here in NJ. As far as NJ goes hollowpoints are not LEO.
I can not believe this guy forgot that he was carrying a weapon in his bag as he was walking up to the x-ray machine.

http://ammunitiontogo.com/catalog/index.ph...e1dcad44116f4cenot that I know where to get them
Erin actually changed her Facebook picture to the one she got with the USAS w/ nlfd, I only got one with the stick
I'm not sure which gun it was, could of been my S-12 with those 3" max turkey loads, or my 590 with the same shells. The wire folder on my x39 might of been a culprit but that is pretty doubtful considering how little I got to shoot it. I just noticed on the way back to Erin's that my shoulder was sore, rolled up my sleeve and it looks like I let one of them slip a bit low and now what I've got kinda looks like someone took a dull saw and started on my arm.
It was so worth it though

Back on topic, the DC gunban that was OVERTURNED is what they are charging him with. DC banned all handguns not registered belore 72. AND all ammo. Ammo must have been regestered at that time. Even if registered any
hangun must be dissasembled or locked and UNLOADED and stored seperatly from ammo - and cannot be transported -even from from one room of your house to another without an UNOBTAINABLE permit. THIS LAW WAS OVERTURNED BY THE FEDERAL DISTRICT COURT.
Stay tuned -it's gonna be a long hot summer!
