Scenario: Jack pulls into school parking lot with rifle in gun rack.

1956 - Vice Principal comes over, takes a look at Jack's rifle, goes to his car and gets his to show Jack.
2006 - School goes into lockdown, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1956 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up best friends. Nobody goes to jail, nobody arrested, nobody expelled.

2006 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

2006 - Billy's Dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang. Billy's sister is told by state psychologist that she remembers being abused herself and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has affair with psychologist.

2006 : Pedro's cause is taken up by the ACLU. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he can't speak English.

I would laugh, if it wouldn't be so sad. I would cry, if it would help. I would get mad, but then I will be told that I am unamerican and the Domestic Surveilance Program comes and arrests me and I am put on Redulin.

I came here in 1991. The country changed so much that it is really, REALLY scary.

I love American Idol. I even called in a $50 donation to help the starving children last week. I love private charity... I hate government charity. Besides it takes me back to that time when people sang and rapping was when you had a conversation with someone. I remember when almost all men spoke straight-forward like Simon Cowell and weren't a bunch of sniveling pussies that tip-toed around everyone's inner-fucking-child. Hell American Idol is about the best thing on TV. It's just really sad that Simon Cowell is an oddity and not the norm.

Well, I just do not see what fun can it be with bunch of cars driving and occasionally turn left. In Europe there is a sport called Autorodeo. I did not see it in USA. Basically it is competition of car stuntmen: Driving on two wheels, jumping over obstacles, rapid turns, precision driving. The idea is also to have AS LITTLE DAMAGE to the car as possible. That is fun. I just do not understand what fun is NASCAR. To be honest, I also could not develop a taste for Baseball or American Football. I understand the rules. I understand how it is played. I just don't see them as fun. Now Hockey or Soccer, yes, that I am down with:-)

Same Situations in Russia in the 1980s

1. Alex brings the shotgun to school. The teacher of military education says "Oh, you like guns?". Alex spends the next weekend cleaning every AKM and RPK in school. (30AKs and about 3 RPK) The military education teacher then calls Alex's dad and Alex gets some as whooping when he gets home.
2. Kosta and Mike get into a fistfight. Everyone gathers around, making sure to enjoy the show and that the person is not attacked when he is on the ground or is trying to get up. After the fight ends, nobody attacks each other. police will NOT be called unless injuries are excessive (broken arms and legs, broken jaw or nose) or unless weapons are used in an "honest" fight.
3. Vasilii won't sit still in class, disrupting the class. Teacher whacks him on the head with a book. On repeated offence calls Vasilii's dad to school and chews him out. Vasilii gets some ass whooing at home.
4. Dima breaks a window. Dad gives him some asswhooping and takes the money out of his allowence for the window. Dima is more careful next time.
5. Sergei gets a headache and takes some Aspirin at school. Teacher noticing that sends him to a school Fieldsher (Physician assistant). Sergei may get sent home, or may stay and rest in the quiet rest area of the school.
6. Masha ends up pregnant. She is not reffered to by other school kids in any other way then "slut", she is shunned by everyone, boycotted, including her friends. Teachers call her parents at work and her parents get into trouble at work for not bringing up her right. She gets kicked out of school, forced to go into the evening school if she ever wants to get into the college. Nobody is willing to date her or marry her.
7. Aren fails Russian or any other class in school. His chances of getting into a college or university are becoming very slim until he retakes it. Teachers are willing to stay after class and help him. No excuses are given, no exceptions are made. Teachers, are graded by how good their students pass exams given to them by independant agency.
8. Vanya puts up a model airplain, loaded with some firewards, set ut on fire and launches it in the air. The airplain blows up. If it starts fire, Vanya is in HUGE trouble, if now: boys will be boys.
9. Victor falls down during soccer practice and scrapes his knee. He is comforted by his teacher and is personally taken by her to the medical office. Victor's parents invite the teacher to a dinner or give her a box of candy to appreciate her attention.

NASCAR is NOT a sport. I drive fast and turn left every day.

Crap, I knew a guy in high school who had gotten expelled because he left a damn steak knife in his car from where he had been stripping wires for his new speakers. And that was in 1993.

My middle son was suspended for having one of those little key chain pocket knives. That gets the same punishment as a switchblade.
