I just got the Guns & Ammo "Combat Arms" mag...it had a piece on "Saiga's Sporting Rifle"

The genius that wrote the article showd a nice shot of a Saiga with the new optional factory "Dragunov" stock on it...

Identifiying it as a CHOATE stock.

unsure.gif (can you say *misinformation* for only $7.99)

P.S -Of course, it must of been the time for extra stupid: I picked up a EAA (Saiga importer of old) 2008 flyer -it touted a Zastava "P.A.P" (AK) weapon...noting it had a KALISHNIKOFF action, whatever that might be. 021.gif

'KALISHNIKOFF' isn't actually an error. since you can't translate russian to english 1 on 1, anything you write can be said to be correct.

but nitpicking aside, americans do love marketing guns with the wrong information. PSL/Romaks as Dragunovs, Jerichos as Baby Eagles or even Desert Eagles, CZ52's sold as Toks, CZ82's as Makarovs,...

The genius is known here already...

...the skeleton stock is Russian made, and an imported part. Choate (or however you spell it) is a company name/style.

is it the skeleton stock?

The "genius" mistook the Saiga thumbhole stock for a Choate AK stock.

All covered in the previously linked thread ( where this has been discussed )

Yeah, the genius is such a typical gun rag whore. Much of his info is marginal. His buddy who is in the sandbox right now is also highly biased toward ARs. Nice article on a PKM in that rag though. I picked it up to read up on the Massada.

Yep, I just read the SGN feature on the SLR-106 Krink. Kokalis acts like he's the only one who knows what "lightening cuts" are for (read the name, here's your sign). He also assumes it's "new" info that "Krinkov" has no meaning. I love it when a rag writer learns something new then writes about it the next day.

I guess anyone on this forum would feel this way when anything is written about AK's in a gun rag.
