just came across some of the 140rd battle packs for$59.99 Ive shot some of the other surplus 308 rounds, what other ammo would you compare this stuff to wolf, cheap federal ?
Verlore Boer
It's some of the better surplus out there. Thousands of commies not breathing because of it.
I've never had a problem with it in any of my weapons. I know folks with cetme's that run the hell out of it as well.

I have heard people sing the praises of SA ammo as well as treat it like a leech on their first born child.. In my experience (over 2000 rds with different headstamps) SA is decent "service grade" ammo and not bad - all things considered... I have heard that some in SA used to shoot matches with this very same stuff, but I haven't heard of many victories, unless they were going up against Nigeria or Cote" D' Ivory or something. I have never heard about any international Match victories using this ammo... Portuguese, German (Hitenburg) Brit, Aussie, Austrian, Belgian, etc... Hell - probably even Italian, French and Greek - are pretty decent.. The problem is that most of these have dried up as these countries move to 5.56x45 ammo for individual firearms...

Pretty much - if you can find it - any "original" NATO country (non-former WASAW-PACT) ammo is OK. Lithuania, Yugoslavia and Czech may be an exception..?.?.?.
But - that is pretty much all of Western Europe and a few former-British-Colonial countries... (excluding India and sometimes Pakistan - Ick!) - pre 1991...

FWIW - In my S-308, Wolf and Barnul are OK too...

Yep,S.A is good stuff.....stay away from any Indian you may happen to run into.

My FAL has loved all of the SA I could feed it. There is better ammo, but there is worse also. It's not match grade, but I'd take into combat.

59.99 is a good price too, IMO.

The SA amo works great in my Saiga. It seemed to be drying up for awhile. Glad to see it's available again.

A real buddy would be posting a website/address/phone number so his fellow board members could get some as well....

I am just saying! wink.gif

If you love the smell of Hoppes #9 your going to get a hard on when you get this ammo it has a funky kinda like #9 smell to it other than that looks like any other surplus FMJ ammo,a magnet WILL NOT stick to this ammo, it does have the crimped primers if your going to reload it
Gunfixr
Yeah, I know. I still got a bunch of it in my .308 stash. Prolly close to a case. But when I got it, a battle pack was about $35.

only good experience with 7.62x51 SA surplus. pretty much the best price quality out here in europe if you can get your hands on it (unless the seller is trying to bleed the uninformed).

there are a few bad batches due to bad storage (not by SA, but by some persons inbetween), but you should be able to spot that easily.
