Ya know - when I was in HS, in the '80's, I always heard that Americans should learn another language. I think we were "guilted' into that lie... Sounded reasonable at the time, but... I went on to learn German (very well), Portuguese (very Well), Spanish (European - Somewhat well), and a bit of Swahili (poor, but passable)... You know what?
I seemed to offend every place else by not learning their language... I pissed off Saudis, Russians, French (pfffft! ) Romainans, Morrocan's, Indians, Koreans and Belgians (ohhh - and the Dutch - though my German was usually sufficient to get around Holland...).
I decided that there ain't no pleasing most people... Fuck 'em! Furthermore, anyplace I ever went, they could get buy in English well enough to sell me something and get me around, if they wanted to make some money...
Aside from "love".. The US dollar is a better translator than "Rosetta Stone" or USA-DLI could ever be...

In Mexico Spanish is the official language, period. The Mexicans don't have this verbal masturbation called multiculturalism or the perversity called diversity. Their laws are tough against illegal aliens whom they deport immediately (unless they're planning to sneak into the US). It's time we enact English only here before it's too late. We need to get tougher with the illegal aliens who bring crime and diseases to the US.

I took my children to this pediatric clinic where the assholes speak only Spanish and I have to ask for someone who speaks English. This isn't in East LA but in Norwood, Ohio, a Cincinnati suburb which used to be called 'Little Kentucky'. It's getting to the point that when you call for service you get an automated answering system which gives you the option of either English or Spanish. Enough is enough.
