OK so i haven't been around this too long but I was wondering.....

Do ya'll ever do like regional shoots?

I read over over some of the old post's and saw the thread about the Florida shoot.

Just wondering if there has ever been a meet-up or shoot for North Carolina or if anybody had ever thought about doing one.

Ot would be fun meeting some other people who have the same fascination that I have been recently struck with.

Hay, I'm up for it. Although I'm not centrally located, I can offer the Watauga County Gun Club's facilities if ya'll let me know in advance. Perhaps Raleigh or another place may be better for everyone though.

Don't know if I got the expertize or even access to a suitable range to put together a local meet up but it would be fun to have happen.

Used to spend a lot of time up in your area on the weekends riding my motorcycle all over the place. Hopefully I will retire in that area after I get the last kid through college in about 16 years.

I am in your neck of the woods (Asheville) and think it would be a cool idea.

I'm up for it but my schedule is SOO screwy that its hard to lock on a FOR SURE weekend I have off. The more advance notice I get the better I may be able to make it.

That probably would be a more central location. Maybe he'll chime in soon and we'll see if he's interested. And certainly work it around a weekend the Sgt. can attend!!

NC shoot sounds cool to me, I would like to make it an NC VA shoot we have some pretty good friends north of the state line.

Seems there are a few members in the area.

But yeah heck not just NC but SC, Va, or anyone willing to travel would be cool, but.......

I know Shelby may not be centrally located but I'll start looking around and see what kind of ranges might be available around here.

After all I started the topic and don't want abnybody to think I want someone else to take the pains of organizing a regional shoot or get together.

I just thought it would be cool to meet a few members who are into the Whole shooting thing. Maybe learn a few things about the different guns people have and few different ideas. After all I'm kinda new to the whole AK, AR or semi auto scene and don't know anybody around who has a fascination on these types of guns. All of my friends and relatives are into the hunting calibers and guns like I am but none are into these types of weapons.

Of course I can see why now... I've spent more on firearms related stuff in the month or so I've owned my saiga than in the prior 10 years or so.

I live in kannapolis NC and i am a member of the rowan wildlife club which is a NRA sponsored range with plenty of 50 yard pits and a 50/100/200 yard range and plenty of skeet and trap towers. I know every weekend there is some kind of A-15, black powder, tatical shoot, etc...... They have a thousand different meets every year. I can def. look into but i dont know how long their waiting list is

Oh I'm definitely interested. I invite people over to my "range" all the time. It's actually just some private land on the outskirts of town and luckily, right in my backyard. Small get togethers are no problem but if we are talking an organized event with lots of shooters we should probably look into a designated Range....like this one...

This is the place where I saw my first 3 gun competition and met fellow members Topmaul, Fullchoke, Vankiller, & Aegis Dei. Got my Moyock tattoo there when Vankiller was generous enough to introduce me to "The Beast" DAMN that was fun!

John is there any way you and the boys could help us get a shoot together up there in Oxford? They do have a kickass rifle range and plenty of room for parking, tailgaiting, all that....
I'm not sure what their policy is on private shoots or how that would have to be organized, but thought it looks like a good central location for all of NC and VA.

I'll do some more checking around locally too. I'm actually supposed to be attending a big private shoot just south of here in Moncure, possibly next Saturday, still awaiting details form my friend who owns the land and is coordinating it. We may even be able to get his permission to do something there if a big open field is good enough to serve as a "range". We usually set up tables, and put barrels and jugs and things out there to blast. Last time a few guys brought a shitload of gallon size plastic jugs filled with water. They also bring out the skeet thrower and lots of other stuff to blast. I brought pumpkins...lol. I hope the guy with the AK-.50 shows up with it again, that thing is BADASS!

That's a small rectangular, sometimes multicolored but mostly purple and orange place that forms on one's shoulder soon after emptying a few mags out of one of these...

It was born in Moyock, NC...hence the name of the mark it likes to leave on poor unsuspecting, yet adrenaline charged individuals...lol

I got a gun kinda like that. A Winchester 1887 lever action shotgun. It still has the original steel buttplate, and the barrel has been shortened from the original 30" to about 22"-24". Oh, and it's a 10gauge.

Any concensus on a weekend date???? or locale??? I'm available whenever.

I think we should try for a coupe of weeks out, so people can make plans. But, I want to participate.

I'm still looking for someplace around near my house.

So far the only place I've found is the little public range across the state line in SC. It can't be rented or reserved plus it's only 100 yards and do to the way it is set up the only to shoot on the rifle range is from the bench. Doubt that place would work.

I got a few feelers out give me a couple more days.

I can't do it the last weekend in July, or the weekend of May 30th, but pretty much any other weekend should work with good lead time. This is exciting!!

June 21 is a "no go" for me as I'm getting married on June 22 in Kommiefornia.

I'm not having too much luck finding a place in my area, sorry.

I hate that I'm the one who first brought up the idea and now can't find a place. I'm gonna keep looking and putting out feelers but at this moment I'm not too optimistic.

looks like we might have gotten a date, but we're still without a place, unless ya'll want to come to Boone.

and actually, i just checked, there's a IDPA pistol match at our club on the 21st of june, but the rifle range, or at least the 300 yard range should be open, and even the pistol match won't be all day. Sunday the 22nd is wide open.

I'm out the weekend before and immediately after the 4th of july. Time at the beach!! mandatory mental health vacation!!

We can get this to work out. We may just have to put it off a week or two longer. I'd like to be able to meet as many of you guys that live in the area. The guys I've already met from the forum are all great.

I just realized, I can't come to a shoot without dressing my girls up! Gotta plan on painting my 308 real soon...
Oh, and July 18-20 won't work for me cause there's a gun show up here. Haven't been to a gun show all year.

OK ladies & gents...I just got some VERY nice news today!! I sent in 2 Form 4's in a few months ago to the ATF and 1 has been approved as of today and the other will be approved this time next week. So in probably 2 weeks or so I'll be traveling to Charlotte to pick up my new toys. On the way back through I could and probably will regardless if anyone else shows up stop by Cobra's place to take a few shots at his personal range.

C, let me know if this works for you and I'll keep you posted via PM on the date as it gets closer.

I can rent the space, within raleigh/durham area.......

We need a 'when' before we worry about a 'where'. We're trying to get everyone in the area to be able to come. We don't want to leave anyone out if we can avoid it.

A few have thrown out dates but none have been picked cause well... we haven't ogot a place yet.

I haven't chimed in on the date cause right now I'm lucky enough to a flexible schedule. As long as i have a week or two of lead time to pick up ammo and arrange my work load any date is pretty much good for me.

The more I think about it, the more I want to host this.

Far as can tell, we have 14 people so far. Knutz, RangerDavid, WarriorJudge, acer saiga308, Melnick, MCASgt, nissantech, topmaul, shtfox13, Chevyman, Gunfixr, Krisfox and Cobra and myself. We need to know when bad weekends are for each to see when this can be worked out. We may not be able to include everyone but I'd sure as hell like to try. I'll go back and look through weekends everyone already said they know they can't attend. Let me know if there's any that haven't been mentioned and we can work from there.

Assuming my Gunny doesn't do anything CRAZY with the schedule I'm down for the WE 6/13...I'm assuming that the festivities will take place on the 14/15? Both days, one day? BBQ to follow afterwards?

This will allow me time to adjust funds for my trip out 2x to the Raleigh/Charlotte area + ammo + misc spending.
