I plan to take a surplus Mauser and make my tactical bolt gun on that platform. Most Likely on a .308 barrel Midway USA has all kinds of Mauser parts this wil be a fun learning process

IPSC Guy thanks for remineding me.

Instead of using a surplus mauser to start your build, why not get a mauser action that is being made new production. Charles Daly was importing them brand new for around $100 or so just a couple years ago. It is always nice to start a build without getting pissed off taking something apart.

+1, if i was gonna buy a mauser it would be from mitchel's mausers and in collector grade condition, otherwise i'd build a tac bolt from the ground up to ensure qaulity and accuracy....plus its a neat project wink.gif

surplusrifle.com had a good write up on a Mauser action build up. A simple search should probably pull it up. I was able to apply a lot of the basics used on the Mauser project on a Ishapore Enfield build with quite a bit of success. Good luck, sounds like a fun project.

On Mauser's.

If you want a match grade gun on .308 call this guy or e-mail him.

Do Barrel installation, Thread, Chamber, and Headspace, Bolts, bent and polished
last time I use him about 150.00 plus shipping for it. If you want he can tap
for scopes but cost a little more, you can blast new finish and fit the stock plus bedding.

Plus if you call him he can tell you what barrel to get for what you want to use the gun.

If he does your gun complete not cheap but will be a tac driver.

Now you can e-mail Steve Wagner if you want, he knows his way around
Mauser's, here is his web page http://www.gswagner.com/ couple of times
I have ask him about some stuff I have to do to couple of rifles, take his time some times
to answer but he knows his stuff.

Now if you want some info look in here

Mauser central.

Hope the info is of any help.
