This front end was posted on another board asking for somebody to I.D. it. I am now curious to what it was off of.

"Let me edit to say it is chambered in .308"

Looks like an AK with a custom Gas block and Saiga Handguards... The Fluted barrel is probably .223 but it's definitely a custom job.

You can see the rear leaf site and the saiga gas tube.... definitely a custom Saiga...

Edited above it is a .308.

To me it looks like a Super Vepr bbl with AK RSB, and a huge gas chunk of steel gas block.

Sure, here's a pic of the muzzle end.

The barrel is 26" long, I figure the holes on the underside of the muzzle are for some type of bolt-on sight base. It doesn't appear to be chrome-lined.

Nope, everyone's just as curious as you and me. Really hopin' the original owner stumbles on one of the threads and responds.

Where did that come from?
Could this be the first match grade front end for a Kalashnikov? (probably not, but the first I've seen)
It would just be nice to have a billet gas block with a big enough diameter for a bull barrel.
I wonder if it was put on a saiga what kind of groups this combo would be capable of.
Add a free float from K-Rail from Samson Mfg.
Some people claim it's impossible for a Kalashnikov (mostly AR owners) but maybe Sub-MOA.
I already laugh at AR owners at the range who are constantly trying to "de-jam" it would be nice to out shoot them as well. 027.gif

I was thinking this was a bull pup nose or one of the new russian rifles see attached link.

It is in 7.62x51MM

Long shot I know.

Thanks,
