So what are some things that i should be concerned about if a certain man was elected President(not gonna mention any names)OBAMA! I mean like do you think he will make any bans? Try to take our saigas lol? I really don't know what this anti gun man would want to do. Any recommendations, like buy alot of ammo while i can, buy alot of high cap mags or just wait and find out? What do you guys think?
rangerdavid
owhhhh, he'd probably relax President Regan's ban on machine gun purchases and make the purchase of class 3 machine guns so we could all buy "new" class 3 machine guns............ instead of 20 year old guns....., that is, if he lives long enough.... laugh.gif cool.gif JK...

who the fuck knows what he'd do. I don't think McCain would relax the class 3 purchase requirements, do you? As for a ban, shit, I'm biuying all my stuff now, so I don't really give a shit, they can't take it once i've got it. I'd just like a "new" M4 with a 203 nade launcher......... for some real hillbilly fun!! grimace.gif
Kwicko
As useless as I think the Assault Weapons Ban was, I think there will be some effort to reenact it, and probably to expand it. If you're thinking about high-cap mags, I'd get on that pretty damn quick, along with anything else you were thinking of picking up.

Seconded. I think a new AWB would come.

Aw, come on guys. I am positive that we would only get "reasonable" gun laws, HE PROMISED!

Hello
Osama's views on "weapons control" are really very simple and easy to understand....

He has stated that he would like to ban ALL guns. Kind of eliminates the "fine print". Doesn't matter if it's registered or not, "grandfathered" or not, nothing! NO GUNS!
Just to be fair, he would also advocate all our military weapons be turned over to NATO. Oh yeah, and our $$$$, resources, and futures, as well.

He's a good and true Fascist.

With appropriate disgust,

BobAsh
Guido is unfortunately correct.

Also, during their debate he and Hillary both stated that they would support a new version of the AWB.

Let's see.
First we have a D.C. police chief and mayor setting up checkpoints.
We also have a San Francisco police chief that sees no need to go to the required annual firearms recertification.

What is the common link?
D.C.-Liberal?
San Francisco-Liberal?
Obama-Liberal?

You can do a M4 & M203 easy enough. A M16 will set you back about 8 - 15K+. Last I heard I think a 203 runs about 1500 - 2500. Two tax stamps & a month or two & you can have both of them. Now the HE rounds for the 203 are a different issue. The only thing keeping most of us from having that is the $$$ naaaa.gif, but they are readily available. They are still making new 203s which are transferable to civilians.

IMHO it all depends on if the Dems remember what happened the last time they actively and openly went after guns and sports persons. There was a reason that most of the canidates did the "I love hunting" lip service. Heck, even "comrade O" stated that rural areas had a "use for guns. "Even if the big "O" wants to turn comrade on us, I am not sure that ALL of the other members of the party would be willing to commit "political hari kari" by disenfranchising suce a large section of the population who have very good memories.

Besides, I am still not convinced that Ob can win in November. Winning a primary is one thing, a general election is a whole different can of worms. That being said, I know which way I will pull the lever this November.
hogdog
Guido2 is right. If Obama has his way, NO law abiding civilians will have guns. As people in several other countries have found out, guns owned before a ban is enacted can be taken away. I don't think that Obama would be able to go that far, but he would if he could. We must continue to "cling to God and our guns" and do what we can to ensure that our Second Amendment rights are preserved.
waltham_41
I think if elected, God I hope not, he will try to figure back door steps to go after the non sporting guns first. Assault style weapons. That would kick just about everyone here in the nuts, and I think he is enough of a prick that he would try to go after current owners and not just future buyers.

MD_Willington
Well look what he has done for Illinois, bent them over a barrel and didn't offer any Astroglide nor a reach-around...

I believe they have coined the term "incrementalism" to describe what they do.
It will be a little bit here, a little bit there.

Or else we will wake up one morning in 1939 Germany..............................

I guess that this election is really a "lesser of two evils" thing. At least we know that politicans can be bought for the right price, and hopefully the supreme court will rule on our side.
WS6_Keith
So at what point do we gun owners say NO? Stand up and fight? That puts us firmly in the "crazy, militant, extremist" category right? That's how a revolution starts...but divided - it's no revolution.

Sure hope this kind of thing doesn't come in my lifetime - but if it does, what's the way to go about it?

I think he will bring the UN to our shores, and let them do all the DIRTY WORK!

ACT NOW, In the election in Nov. The president has the ability to sign executive orders, but thoes are alot easier to get rid of than actual laws. Look at the AWB, it had to sunset it didn't get repealed. In other words, if the congress persons of your state or district would vote for gun control, TRY TO VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE. I am not yelling, just trying to make a point, in this age of polls and focus groups and demographics; your voice will be heard even in defeat if enough people vote. Any of our current politicos would not dream of risking losing a future election if they thought that voting for a gun law would risk their re-election chances. Look at the voter turnout in the last few election cycles, apathy is alive and well in the US, one vote is worth more now than ever. It is alot easier to protect your right than to get it back.

Sorry, I must have forgot my meds this morning. 018.gif

+1 Will! Whereas leftists used revolutionary tactics in Tsarist Russia, they employ an incremental approach to furthering their agenda in modern America. They hope that by changing things a little at a time people won't notice, or at least they won't care enough to do anything about it. Expand government power a little here and a little more there, take away a little freedom now and a little more later, and so on. Think about it. We've all seen government power expand during our lifetimes. How often have you seen it contract? We've seen freedom eroded away. How hard is it to get it back? Ask the British. If you give them an inch they will eventually take a mile.

All i can say is i hope to God that Obama does not get elected president. My vote isn't gonna get him there.

Here's an article exerpted from the June, '08 NRA magazine:

president's column
By John C. Sigler, President

A True Threat To Freedom

Right now, one of the most antigun
politicians ever to set foot in
Washington, D.C., may be just one
election away from the Oval Office and
far too few gun owners realize the
true threat to freedom this candidate
represents.
No, it's not Hillary Clinton-we already
know how bad she is. It's Senator Barack
H. Obama, D-III., the man who promises
"change" while pretending to offer "hope:'
But exactly what kind of "change" is
Obama "hoping" for?
It is far too easy for gun owners to slip
into a false sense of security, unquestioningly
accepting the candidate's promises
and proclamations regarding the Second
Amendment; but the unreported truth is
that Barack Obama has an atrocious record
on your most fundamental civil right-the
right to a firearm for self-defense.
Over the years, Barack Obama has
either voiced support for, or voted to
enact, laws to:
.ban all handguns; ban the sale or transfer of all semiautomatic
Firearms;
ban the Right-to-Carry in every state,
nationwide
ban firearms in the home, even for self protection
And he voted against a "self-defense
exception; 'which absolves folks of violating gun
bans when their reason for violating
those bans is to fend off criminal attack
in the home.
Go to Obama's website and you'll see
His claims of respect for your rights claims which
are, at best, misleading.
Obama's website claims, "He will
protect the rights of hunters and other
law-abiding Americans to purchase, own,
transport and use guns for the purposes
of hunting and target shooting:'
But as the bumper sticker says-"The
,Second Amendment ain't about duck
hunting:'
In 1996,Obama 's Illinois state senate
Campaign answered a questionnaire
indicating his support for a blanket ban
on the manufacture, sale and possession
of handguns in Illinois.
In 2000, Obama sponsored a "one gun-
a-month" law to ration the Second
Amendment rights of the law-abiding
citizens of Illinois.
Obama has supported bans on
ammunition magazines, gun-lock mandates,
renewal of the 1994 Clinton gun
ban and California-style gun registration.
He voted against confirmation of both
Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito for
the U.S. Supreme Court, and then refused
to sign the pro-gun "friend-of-the-court"
brief filed by 55 other senators and
250 House members in the District of
Columbia. v. Heller gun ban case.
In July 2005, Obama voted against
the Protection of Lawful Commerce in
Arms Act-a vote against the rights of
every law-abiding gun owner, dealer
and manufacturer in America, and a vote
against our national defense.
Obama even proposed a federal law
banning licensed firearm dealers from
operating within five miles of any school
or park, nationwide! Imagine a map with
a five-mile circle drawn around every
school and park in the United States.
Unless you live in the wilderness interior
of Alaska, you probably couldn't find a
law-abiding gun dealer anywhere under
Obama's ban!
Yet, while Obama's disdain for Second
Amendment freedom appears limitless,
his attitude toward armed, violent
criminals has been one of benign neglect,
at best.
In 1999,on a vote in the Illinois senate
on whether to try teenage gang-bangers
as adults when they fire a gun on or near
school grounds, Obama voted "present"
-the functional equivalent of "NO"!
In 2001, when Illinois lawmakers tried
to control rampant gang violence by
making gang members eligible for the
death penalty when they commit murder
to help their gang, Obama voted against
the measure.
Responding to a Chicago Tribune
questionnaire, Obama said he believed
federal mandatory-sentencing laws
used to put armed and violent predators
behind bars should be abolished!
And if those same violent criminals
attack you, Obama opposes your
fundamental, God-given right to protect
yourself. He opposes your Right to Carry.
In fact, according to Obama's own hometown
newspaper, the Chicago Tribune,
Obama supports federal legislation to
ban the Right to Carry for everyone but
police officers!
Obama supported Washington, D.Cs
total ban on handguns in the home for
self-defense; and when Illinois lawmakers
introduced a bill that would exonerate
citizens for violating local gun bans if
they used a gun to defend themselves in
their homes, Obama voted "NO"!
Even attorney Walter Dellinger, who
tried to defend the Washington, D.C.,
gun ban before the u.s. Supreme Court,
admitted, "It is a universal or near universal
rule of criminal law that there is a
self-defense exception. It goes without
saying:'
In other words, Barack Obama's
position is even more anti-gun than the
District of Columbia's! Obama's record is
clear-his concept of "hope and change"
will surely result in anti-gun/anti-freedom
changes bringing more hopelessness for
the most helpless in our society.
Now is the time to act! Every gun
owner in America must be alerted to
Obama's record. Please, tear out this
page, copy it and distribute it to fellow
gun owners, hunters, shooters, family
and friends. Spread the word and get
ready for the most important election
battle of our lifetime.

Fortunately no President has the absolute authority to ban all firearms. Even the recent case that went to the Supreme court went our way, upholding the gun owners right to possess and "bear arms". Without a constitutional amendment that will not change. No president, and probably no Supreme Court would ever come close to succeeding in doing that.

A lot of things are said in primary debates, all of it strictly for effect, most of it never even comes close to an idea after the election is over. I'm not worried about it, but like I said, I'm buying my shit NOW!!!! 027.gif

Friends, be advised. This is the opportunity the left has been creaming in their drawers about since that anti-semetic, senile loser Carter was kicked out by Ronnie. They will control the white--er... black house and both houses of congress. The fusilade of bullshit legislation and unconstitutionalities will be of epic proportions in US history. And yes, pre-ban/post-ban will make no difference. You will have to register ALL firearms and ammo stashes. Probably so the UN can come to your house first. Blue helmets make good bulleyes!!

Maybe someone who has been around longer can answer this one. Does the NRA put out articles like this before every election? Do they always claim it's worse each time?

.........I may qualify for that "been around longer" statement. First President I remember is Eisenhower, although Truman was President when I was born...........

Fact of the matter is, as regards the assault on our rights as citizens of this fine country, this is the worst its ever been !! Never before has there ever been such a cabal of socialists in control of one of our major parties.......much less to the point of having them being nominated to run for President........... This election is pivotal to our continuance of the United States as we've all known it........

Its not that the NRA is "claiming" its worse this time..........it actually is.........

(......and I'm not referring to Bush's administration. (Yeah, yeah...."Bush lied, Bush lied, bad Bush !!".......bunch of
Dem shills, media brainwashed parrots) ( Oh shut up !!)

I can hardly believe what the Dems are putting out there.....but harder yet is the apparent swallowing of it by a large portion of our voting populace............. (.....and even a few of our members here !)

Obama is the worst of the worst as regards gun rights...........an Illinois Democrap.
The NRA is correct.

Now that I am a member of a private gun club I am going to try and invite some politicians at the state level out to shoot with me. I will let them shoot my AK, Saiga 12(that arrives today btw) and my Springfield XD. After he or she enjoys it, I will explain that all three of those are banned in Kalifornia.

That is a great idea. I would wager you will not get many takers and cameras and ANY photos will be verboten. This kind of documentation scares the living crap out of politicians unless they really support our cause or they use it as a photo op like that loser "swiftboat" Kerry did in a lame attempt to once again lie to us.

All you have to do is listen to what Obama said about the people of Pennsylvania "who stick to their guns and religion". Apparently he doesn't want armed infidels (Christians and Jews) so his fellow Muslim terrorists can have a free hand at defenseless Americans. I don't want this Obamamnable Islamo communist taking over this country's most powerful office.

Look at who is sponsoring this degenerate: The Chinese, Arabs from Dubai and Saudi Arabia and other foreign anti American organizations. Remember what happened in 1976 when an obscure candidate became president; Jimmy Carter the worst traitor in thief this country ever had. Obama will be worse especially with Nasty Pelosi and Dirty Harry Reid running congress. They'll pass worse laws than the 1994 'Assault' weapon bans and the Republicans will be too chicken shit to repeal them. they haven't repealed the Nazi based 1968 Gun Control Act yet and they had the White House and Congress at that time.

I'm holding my nose and voting for McCain as I did for Bush Jr. Neither is a freind of gun owners but Obama is an outright enemy of gun owners as Kerry is.

We must fear Obama and what he will do.(NOt only with gun rights, but I hear and see alot of reverse racism coming out of his mouth/pen) If he can't take the guns away, I can just about promise that he will make it almost unaffordable to purchase certain types of ammo....just as NYS lawmakers did to smokers with their cigarettes. So I would stock up on tons of ammo now, and get a reloading kit. If it takes voting for an administration that mimmicks Bush's, so be it, at least I know my right to bear arms won't be infringed on. They can just try to take our guns........there would be a revolt, and alot of blood on their hands.....I know I am willing to die for my rights, and alot of you are as well. It is already happening in NYS and Cali. We aren't aloud to but any pre ban assault rifles......some guy went to Vermont and bought one for 1800.00 and the ATF knocked his door in the very next day and took his gun from him....and arrested him. How is that for BS? McCain all the way!!!

Do you know how long it was between when he was sworn in to the senate and he announced his presidential bid?

143 days..(roughly)
