Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?
Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?
Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago?
When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?
Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?
Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?
When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a "vanilla" Iowa, because that's the way God wants it?
Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism?
Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?
How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?

I want to know where are all the cable and newsreporters sticking microphones, cameras, and tape recorders in the faces of law enforcement and asking "It looks like everyone got out of this neigborhood. Is that because they were white?"

Why doesn't the government spend less money finding traces of ice on freaking mars and help working-class american citizens rebuild their lives after natural disaster.

some very good questions in there.....
the difference in many is in the quality and character of those affected by the respective storms.....
some are hard workers, some are merely "entitled"....which group you think is gonna bitch more?
and that tornado pic is AWESOME!
on a personal side note i have sympathy for those who lost everything, it is horrible, but at the same time, those people who build in flood plains or behind a Levee are just gambling, and just like those who bought mansions with ARMs and are now in foreclosure, i have trouble with my tax dollars bailing them out over and over......
learn from mistakes people!
its not your fault when nature smacks the shit out of you, but why make it so easy for her to do it to you over and over and over.....?
EDITED: WOOHOO...he he he.....crossed a 1000 posts and didn't even notice.....do i get a sticker or something?...lol

Different Cultures. The people of Iowa are used to standing on their own. I am ashamed that New Orleans is a part of the South!

+1 on that.
No-one raises an eyebrow when a bunch of whities gets smacked around - cause they are "privileged".
My heart goes out to the people affected by this flood - and I am thankful that they didn't loot or shoot at rescue choppers.

One common theme heard around these parts was "I wish the water would go down so I can clean this place up and get on with my life."
btw, this was in the "500 year flood plain. I always found these terms funny because the news media NEVER tells who decided the difference between a 500 year flood and a 100 year one.
