Now it has been pointed out i MUST have this, and i KNOW i need this due to the area i work in (there has been instances where guys lost their guns due to vehicle breakins or thefts) So, what do you guys recommend and where do i get one? I'm not familar with car "vaults" or safes but i do know they have specific vehicle safes for the center consoles but they are running close to 300 bucks, and thats a wheeee bit steep for me....so any help guys? happy.gif

I made one that uses a padlock and can be bolted to something inside the vehicle.

You might be able to contact a local fabrication/welding shop and get a simple box made to the size you need. It would be real easy for them to make.

Probably a lot less than $300.

haven't looked into vehicle specific car safes.

i just mounted a holster somewhere concealed and accessible. i knew i wanted to stay away from the glove box and center console so some dipshit busting my window wouldn't find it. fool would have to strip the car to win a freebie.

if you just want something to lock up your gun securely, you could mount a bedside safe under the drivers seat or the back seat. wouldn't need a key for those. i've seen pics of a guy mount one of those slim safes vertically on the side of his center console and then covered it with carpet. looks like a great way to do it as long as you've got enough leg/knee room to spare. you could install something like that for the price of the safe plus carpet and some fasteners.

I have a Harbor Freight nearby and picked up a couple of these on sale for $17.00. I wanted something small that did not require a key. They will deter the casual thief but you could probably get into it with a hammer, chisel and a little time. I got them to keep the car guns out of my children's curious hands.

I think your choice will depend on your vehicle. I have a spartan open-air early bronco. Due to AZ carry laws, I needed a way to secure my gun when entering a place which prohibits carry. After looking at many alternatives, I went with a titan gun lock for a few reasons:
a. the lockbox detaches from the mounting bracket for transport away from the vehicle.
b. no electronic components
c. it's sturdy
d. it presents your weapon to you
e. it's pretty compact

I think I paid $160 at a gunshow. Good luck.
