It does seem rather strange that a guy with a knife would be able to kill at least five officers. Maybe the officers there are not routinely armed when at the station. Perhaps they were in such close quarters that they couldn't bring their weapons to bear very effectively. It is true that you can kill someone very quickly with a knife if you know what you are doing (or get lucky).
Anyway, it is important to realize that people can be killed with other things than guns (knives, pipe bombs, baseball bats, etc.), even if the anti-gun crowd wants us to think otherwise. In most cases, a good citizen armed with a gun has a decent chance of putting a stop to such killings though.

WARNING: pictures are gruesome...
http://www.oskarlewis.com/weblog/archives/4601Tend to disagree... No guns here, we're as safe as can be --> BARF!
BTW, last time I checked, IIRC a machete at Walmart is ~ $6.99
That's a hell of a bargain compared to the $305 I spent on my Saiga .223

Knife attacks are common in England, and there have been some bad ones in Japan also.

Well, if history teaches us anything, it's that nobody ever killed anybody until Sam Colt invented the revolver.

But this does tend to give reason to why we cannot have Bayonet Lugs.... they make firearms into dangerous mass killing weapons.
Why is it that the heavy regulated semi-auto firearm can wound 10 people and no one dies, but 5 people stabbed by a man die?
I think knives are more efficient killing tools than guns.

A family that was once our neighbors were killed with a claw hammer. The oldest son was mental tal, and woke up one night and killed his parents and brother in their sleep.
Cain didn't even know what a gun was, and there were just as many bloody wars fought before gunpowder was invented.

Hell, GUN attacks are still commonplace in the UK.
