I got a P.M. from C.M.
He will be deployed overseas for the nex 15 months.
He asked me to wait until this date to let you all know...
Let us keep him and/or any one else from our ranks in our thoughts and prayers.
Shaneman, Dodge, Doc V, Gunny R, or anybody else....... please keep us in the loop on deployment as well.
(Permitting you are allowed to)
I also been thinking about sending care packages about every 3 months or so......
Ideas, help and suggestions welcome!
Goddspeed C.M.!

My boy shaneman is there now. Left us in June. No real internet hook-up in his pods just yet.
I leave in Spring 09 for my fourth deployment to Iraq. That's 2 deployments from the Corps (not counting Somalia), and soon to be 2 in the Army to Iraq.
Thinking of starting an Iraqi-American family over there so I can gets some comfort while deployed. Hell. I've spent enough time there. May as well conquer these people by breeding em!
LOL
I can't wait to go back. I've been looking for the right scope for my Perfect Tabuk Sniper Clone that I have. Gotta get back in country to facilitate that.
Stay Safe All!
(p.s. shaneman. Nice to hear from You last week. If You check here at all later. pm me. Keep You up on the .17 caliber ongoings around here. Sploding' Squirrels are cool!)

I'm down for supporting these cats over there!
I'll see if It's cool to post an APO addy, or 2 for these guys. Gotta check with their wives, and stuff.
My best days were getting some gun magazines....even old ones. It's not like they have seen last months there anyway right! LOL
(that's fucked up...lol)
Anyway. I plan on shipping old shaneman a box here soon. My wife is buds with his, and we have dinner with her about once a week.
I say if we don't have a section for deployed turds...how about a stickied thread in General Discussion. Neat, and tucked up for the folks that want to click on it.
just a thought.

I hope the worst thing he has to contend with over there is boredom!
I have one son over in Afghanistan now and one heading over to Iran for his third deployment briefly before he leaves the Navy. All three of my sons have been over there either in Afghanistan or Iraq or both. One of the three is out of the service now and one will be out in a bit over a month. They made him deploy over there this time even though he won't get a month in country before separation since they were hard up for his skills. They'll be sending him over for about 2 weeks before sending him back. Anyway, so far, so good, they are untouched!

Dang I thought CM was getting out and going to school (like I am).
Juggs I've been in the IRR for the last year (give or take) so the Corps would have to be in sad shape to call my sorry ass back in. Although I got a letter a month ago from an old XO telling me that it was my "duty" to come back in and continue to teach the new generation of warriors and I should seriously consider going back to active duty. Sad to say, the mere thought of running a PFT makes me gasp and wheeze. Nah, not quite that bad but I like only running every couple of days instead of every day. I'm going to renew my contract though because in the back of my head I'd still like to see the mountains of Afghanistan, get to know the locals, check out their food, and oh yeah...kill the hell out of those Taliban fucks. I've got another year to finish up my associates degree and we'll see.
I'm in for sending CM a package but I'd send him something on my own if we can get an APO. I think this forum tried to send something to Dodge a while back and the whole process got FUBAR'd.

I think that this is a most EXCELLENT idea. I also think it should come from Makc, courtesy of the person that starts it (they are the one who means it, and will see it done).
Maybe the forum should have an official "soldier lottery" that you can only collect, while on active duty, overseas?
Maybe, that might be ok?
Maybe also, we could also open our own pockets up to give these boys and girls what they miss most, that can be mailed to them....
Just a thought.....

You guys going over there... PM me if you need anything.
I'm not rich but I can afford to send you a few things.
I'd really like to do a flag exchange. I usually send an American made, American flag (not some chicom POS), one that has the mount along the side, and ask that you sign the mounting strip (not the flag). I then fly those on special holidays, July 4th, veterans day etc.
Anyone up for that?
I recently had to retire my flag from LSA Anaconda.

well i just got to my FOB. im on the Clinic computer and the Internet is very iffy. This place is so ghetto in comparasion to last deployment. no hot showers but the foods pretty good. we are on a 5 day cycle. We had a sniper attack on the front gate a few days ago no one was hurt. except for the enemy. he was pretty butthurt when they brought him into the clinic. he will be ok.
the ANA crawls all over this fob and they all look pretty shady. they got some ghetto aks i saw some Izvek logos but they probably are locally manufactured. suprisingly i did not see any 74s at least not yet. we are at weapons status amber on the fob. we just got out of Blackout status. but that matters little since our internet works rarely. i hope to get on the phone with my folks in the next couple days.
otherwise its pretty safe here i dont hear any mortars or gunfire or anything. alot better than last deployment. its just alot more rough. i was supposed to be going on terminal leave by now but oh well..... ill be rich when the army lets me go.
our PX is like this shotty milvan. they have nothing no smokes or anything. i dont smoke but alot of folks in my unit do. also hygine supplys are needed.
anything else i can think of ill let you know.
thanks alot!

Guys, I'm telling you now...if he gets good ol' US smokes (not that crappy foreign Marlboro stuff) he's going to be king of the FOB. American smokes are always good for barter.
That and Dunkin' Donuts pre-ground coffee.
CM, stay safe bro and post when you can.

A care package full of these probably would go a whole lot better if Army chicks looked the same as when I was in (taking into account how most of the Afghani/Iraqi women shown to be living in the Red zone look like too).

ill do the flag exchange as well. are you at BIAP Shaneman? i worked for a month at the EMEDS over at Sather Airbase. had to transport back and forth from stryker. It is the freaking middle of knowere out here. all my arabic learning down the drain. everyone here speaks pashto. i have to learn how to take patient history in a new language now. Had a guy come in the other day ANA....failed to ensure backblast was clear torched his left hand. had to take it off in the OR. same day Hadji takes Fragmentation to sholder. Flight crew brings him into the ER his arm falls off the litter! we saved him in the OR. he took 6 units of blood 2 units of FFP. Hadj dosent deserve our blood. our fucking inceneratior is broken. so i had to throw his arm in the burn pit. took a whole 5 Gallons of JP8 to burn that thing. smelled whorid. on a positive note we did a C-section here at Fenty. complications to a Afghan mother. 4lbs. 8oz. healthy baby boy. born 2340 August 1 2008.
Pray for our troops here that God brings them home safe.

TP, candy, and listerine bottles of tequila are big hits, from what I hear!
I got a thank you letter a few years ago from a small package I sent out to a random troop. They were thankful for the toiletries and were pleasantly surprised when they brushed their teeth the next day!
The real trick was not breaking the seal on the bottle

Wish I coulda seen the look on the guys face when he realized what was up!

Um, girls (and guys?

) who enjoy the taste of cigar flavored condoms, perhaps?
Cigar flavored condomsI know when I used to dip Copenhagen, everything tasted "tobacco-y" Not all that bad when eating old-style MRE's.
I bet the tobacco condom "burns" both ways though.
