I can't tell too much from the pics, but it looks like the black strips on the bottom front row might be some sort of Rusky MOLLE-type system. I dunno. 
The flaps on the back look like the same as the front, except for what look like grenade pockets. I really can't tell.

Almost every black strap you see is a pocket flap with velcro and a snap on it. The flaps on the back look like the same as the front, except for what look like grenade pockets. I really can't tell.Hope that helps,

The ones around the bottom appear to be pistol or smg mag pockets.
The 4 larger straps at the top cover 'piggyback pockets ( two pockets )' with the bottom of the outside pocket have web straps for bottoms (for drainage, I'd presume).
Looks cool!! If all the pockets were full of ammo and magazines, bet it would be heavy!
The sixteen smaller pouches are for GP25 grenades or handgun magazines depending on what you want to carry. The four big pouches are for eight AK mags.

Which "front fastners" are you wondering about? If they are the center fastners which join the two sides of the vest together, those look like a pass-through arrangment. The metal peices on the right side of the vest would slip through the center holes on the left. The metal peices should then lay flat against each other. It really is a simple solution to fastening an enclosure. If those were not the "front fasteners" you were asking about, please disregard my commentary.

Those are the ones. The guy I got this from mentioned something about it, but he didn't enlighten me as to exactly how. I've messed about with it a bit, but can't seem to figure it out.
