Actor Jon Voight. Associated Press.

OP-ED

We, as parents, are well aware of the importance of our teachers who teach and program our children. We also know how important it is for our children to play with good-thinking children growing up.

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

The Democrats have targeted young people, knowing how easy it is to bring forth whatever is needed to program their minds. I know this process well. I was caught up in the hysteria during the Vietnam era, which was brought about through Marxist propaganda underlying the so-called peace movement. The radicals of that era were successful in giving the communists power to bring forth the killing fields and slaughter 2.5 million people in Cambodia and South Vietnam. Did they stop the war, or did they bring the war to those innocent people? In the end, they turned their backs on all the horror and suffering they helped create and walked away.

Those same leaders who were in the streets in the '60s are very powerful today in their work to bring down the Iraq war and to attack our president, and they have found their way into our schools. William Ayers is a good example of that.

Thank God, today, we have a strong generation of young soldiers who know exactly who they are and what they must do to protect our freedom and our democracy. And we have the leadership of Gen. David Petraeus, who has brought hope and stability to Iraq and prevented the terrorists from establishing a base in that country. Our soldiers are lifting us to an example of patriotism at a time when we've almost forgotten who we are and what is at stake.

If Mr. Obama had his way, he would have pulled our troops from Iraq years ago and initiated an unprecedented bloodbath, turning over that country to the barbarianism of our enemies. With what he has openly stated about his plans for our military, and his lack of understanding about the true nature of our enemies, there's not a cell in my body that can accept the idea that Mr. Obama can keep us safe from the terrorists around the world, and from Iran, which is making great strides toward getting the atomic bomb. And while a misleading portrait of Mr. Obama is being perpetrated by a media controlled by the Democrats, the Obama camp has sent out people to attack the greatness of Sen. John McCain, whose suffering and courage in a Hanoi prison camp is an American legend.

Gen. Wesley Clark, who himself has shame upon him, having been relieved of his command, has done their bidding and become a lying fool in his need to demean a fellow soldier and a true hero.

This is a perilous time, and more than ever, the world needs a united and strong America. If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.

Jon Voight is an Academy Award-winning actor who is well-known for his humanitarian work.

hahah, this is the dumbest commentary on the upcoming election i've read. Voight displays a profound ignorance of politics, and has nothing to add to the political discourse.

Obama is not a socialist. Please don't be so stupid to believe that

Bravo Jon, Wonderfully said. As Malibu resident, I am surrounded by limo, ankle biting, liberals who beleive that Obama is the next coming. (to me, it's like a scene out of the Omen 3.)It least, he's not a "flip flopper" because he takes boths sides of an issue (when he says anything of substance at all,) and the kool-aid drinkers become orgasmic. This is a hype that trumps anything that has ever come out of Hollywood. I do, however, beleive that the American voter will be smart enough to see through this thinly veiled con.

BRAVO, BRAVO! Thanks so much for the courage to speak out. I hope it's encouraging other conservative entertainers, and also making some "liberal" entertainers re-think their positions in supporting Obama. If you can recover from the '60's, others can too. Continue to write articles and appear in person. Every little bit helps. Great admiration! (and you're a great actor, to boot)!

Well done, sir. I heard Voight say once that speaking out on his conservative values was a way of atoning for starring in "Coming Home". I especially liked his dig at Weasley Clark.

Way to go! As a Mexican Jewish Female,I, too, was on the left for years. Now, I have come to realize what is at stake and how we need to keep our country strong and safe. Obama is dangerous to our country and speaking (or writing) this truth can be dangerous for the courageous Mr. Voight, given the world of entertainment he makes his living in. I honor and thank you for your staunch support of Israel, the US and the truth.
May God bless and protect you,

An actor that is conservative?! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I'm not sure what it says about us that actors' opinions are given the weight and newsworthiness that they are. That said, it is a rare occasion when an entertainer says something truly worthy of our attention. Mr. Voight has just given us such an occasion in this well stated, heartfelt essay. Well done!!

Bravissimo, John Voight! Only a man of real principle could have portrayed Pope John Paul II the Great as convincingly and accurately as you did! Everything you said about Obama and his Hard Left spear-carriers in your article was right on target, but I was most taken by your perceptiveness in citing the pernicious influence of the Hard Left on the raising and educating of America's youth. Loopy radical Bill Ayers said years ago that, his own actual bombs notwithstanding, the real key to mounting a socialist revolution in America was to get our kids to "kill their parents." Since the poisonous Sixties, precisely that has happened -- not physically, but in terms of parental authority and respect being murdered wholesale by our Hard Left dominated news and entertainment media, judiciary, universities and colleges, and most public school systems. This destructive process will only gain speed if the Lord Obama becomes president and staffs the federal judiciary and bureaucracy with the Hard Left loons with which he seems so comfortable. Again, thanks so much for speaking out against the impending Hard Left tyranny of an Obama Administration.

Kudos! From all we normally hear, it's hard to believe that any Hollywood actor has this much common sense!

Bravo,
I agree for the most part and I pray that the American public are as intelligent as I think they are so that they may see through the smoke and mirrors being generated by Obama.

HILARIOUS! Just because his platform is socialist, doesn't mean that he is.

avoiding the politics of this entirely, i really think that most actors/performers etc should just shut the hell up and do their jobs. Voight and his mansion, and millions has no more in common with the common american than McCain or Obama. i don't turn to a plumber for medical advice, i'm not going to turn to an actor for political advice.

This is no different than Oprah or streisand, or fonda shilling for the dems.....in my opinion....
Racegal20
I would agree with that if you could get the thousands of liberals in Hollywood to shut up first. I don't get my advice from him. It's just good to know there are actually some independent thinkers out there.

no argument from me.....i know they like to use their celebrity status to promote their pet projects. I think some actually are pretty impressive with what they do (not so much trying to tell you who to vote for, but by actually doing something for the greater good), others i think are just trying to stay in front of the camera between jobs, and are way the hell over their heads in most cases.....i remember hearing an interview with Cameron Diaz one time......she is such a stupid twit that she couldn't even justify her position on green living and global warming.....you could just tell that she was going along with it because it was the popular thing to do in hollywood. was not a fan of hers before that, and it certainly didn't bring me around to liking her either.

just shut up and act.....and i'll keep not going to your movies.....lol

I agree, no one should take political advice from an actor. But it's nice to see that someone with a "platform" to speak to the masses has a similar view on something.

I'd rather look at Cameron Diaz spouting stupid shit than Marky Mark Wahlberg though. angry.gif

And I'd rather see her naked tits than his anyday. 015.gif

Both of them can gargle my nutsack though. blush.gif

I meant it in a purely Eric Cartman sort of way (not counting that one "Butters" episode of course). 015.gif

Besides, if not "gargling," he could decide to sing instead. mad.gif

I'd only watch when Cameron was doing the "gargling" though. 027.gif grimace.gif

wasn't john voight an actor? regardless of his political leanings, I couldn't care less what john voight thinks, unless he'd sell me nude pics of angelina Jolee.
