Hi
New here, hope this is o.k. to post here, --------question----where to purchase fire control group for Saiga conversion
thanks
hogdog
You can get a "drop-in" installation FCG from dinzagarms.com. Dinzag's products are great, and he is great to deal with.

If you're doing a full conversion, then any standard fire control group will work. I put the TAPCO G2 into both my Saigas and they work like a champ. They count as 3 US parts.

The link above was for a FCG for an unconverted rifle (FCG in the original position). Dinzag also sells the G2 group - either modified for the BHO ($55) or standard ($35). The modification to make room for the BHO takes about 10 minutes with a Dremel.

If your receiver is pre-cut, the single-hook FCG will be a drop in. The double hook will require an extra slot - again, pretty simple with a Dremel. Personally, I just use the single-hook.

As Hogdog said, Dinzag has a fire control group for non-converted rifles which will give you 2 US parts.

Like you said, it's for unconverted Saigas. But the OP asked about an FCG for a Saiga conversion. Not nit-picking your post, I just don't want the guy to buy the wrong FCG.

O.K. doing the full conversion, I was curious as to the difference between the single hook and double, now I know
Thanks so much

Dinzag has modified Tapco G2 FCGs for converted AND unconverted Saigas (Just make sure you get the right one). They are "drop-in" assemblies that allow the use of the manual bolt hold-open. They are also pre-assembled with a disconnector spring already installed, and mating surfaces are polished. Dinzag also throws in six nylon hole plugs with each order. For anyone wanting to convert a Saiga .308, Dinzag does everything needed to make the G2 work just right in the .308. I have purchased several of his FCGs, and am very happy with them.

A standard Tapco G2 will work fine for most Saigas IF you don't want to use the manual bolt hold-open. Otherwise, you would have to modify the FCG. You can do that yourself, but I don't see much reason for most people to do so when Dinzag does it professionally using a lathe. Considering the polishing, refinishing, and conversion "goodies" he throws in; the price he charges is minimal and more than fair.

I have no connection to Dinzag's business; other than being a very satisfied customer.

o.k. I have 2 Saigas, .223, ---------just wanting to do the simplest conversion, I am doing the conversion, am a CNC machinist
so have tools and know how to do some fitting and polishing, but buying exactly what I need to make this work, sounds better to begin with, so deciding which trigger will work as is, double or single hook, if I call them they probably can tell me and solve this question,
Thanks

Single hook will work just as well as double hook, and the receiver already has the cutout for the single hook (it's just hidden under the bottom plate). By the sound of it, with your skills and equipment, you could make any modifications to the FCG or receiver that you might need/want to. Good luck, and enjoy the guns!

Yes, love the Saigas, and after I made my last post a couple hours ago, I looked at the gun and realized what the single and double hook means, it is the slot cut in reciever underneath where the trigger comes through reciever, -----well, you learn something every day, --huh???
Thanks for info, very helpful

Another FCG you may want to consider is the Red Star FCG from http://www.redstararms.com/.

It's twice the cost, but it's fully adjustable. From their web sight:
"this trigger group is adjustable for Pretravel, Overtravel, Disconnector Engagement, and Trigger Pull. Depending on your preference and application, it can be adjusted for Single Stage or Two Stage pull."

I've tried both the G2 and the KVar, but the Red Star is hands down the better of the two, however, the former two are not bad at all either. It's just the Red Star is more refined.
