OK I have had this thing for years but have never used it. It is like 5"x8". I just took up kayaking so I unburied this from my pile of gear to find out, via water bucket test, it leaks badly! Looking at the rubber seal I see where it was cut in manufacturing wrong that makes the major leak. Not sure if there are more than that. Question is are there gaskets that can replace this or am I just going to have to S-12 the thing out of spite? I Googled Doskocil and I kept getting pet carriers! I'm sure postage would be more to send it back than that I paid for it anyway. GRRRRRRRR! Ideas?

With the right size o-ring material and some contact or rubber cement you should be able to replace the one. You might be able to reglue the one in the lid right now, as it may have been spun when glued, thus the ends no longer line up. Just depends on how much you want to put in to it, The other solution might be to get some "liquid rubber" and fill the gap and repair the ring.
When a arsnal or ammo plant referbs the cans, they just pull the oring out and glue one in.

I also thought about pulling the original out, flipping it and patching the defective splice with Sportsman's Goop.
OK, well I tried turning over the original seal and spinning it and still the same. I think another problem is the seal is undersized. Maybe being like 10 years old though never used, the rubber shrunk? No cracking though.

Take the seal out, fill the void with silicone, let it set a bit and set the seal back in. Put some silicone on the bad spot on the seal and smooth it out. Let it set until the silicone is starting to cure, and close the box and let it set.
If it cant be fixed with silicone, it aint worth fixing.

Hit it with the silicone treatment and now I'll let it dry couple days. Not holding out much hope, should make a fun target though anyway.

Fill it full of Tannerite,i'm thinking 10 lbs should do it. Tape it to a drum of gas,but make sure there is only 2-3 gallons of gas (more vapors he he he he) and get back really far. Then send it strait to Doskocil hell

Aquarium Sillycone. Put a bead on it, close it, and give it a good sealing wipe with your finger. 7 bucks a tube....
sillycone caulk is pretty smelly, but takes time to dry. Aquarium sillycone smells pretty damned bad, and should be applied in a well-ventliated space and takes not quite so long to dry. Stinky stuff to use indoors, though.
It makes a real good and strong gasket, when heat is not involved.
