OK, so downloading free music and movies is illegal in some cases.

But let's say you're not actually downloading a movie, but watching one in the same way you watch a video on YouTube. Is that still considered "downloading"? I'm talking like going to a website, clicking on link, you get a pop-up player, it loads, and you watch it. I'm not talking downloading using a program like Limewire, where you actually saving a file on your computer. Is it considered different?

Just curious biggrin.gif .

Either way, the data still hits your computer, and is stored there, however temporarily. I don't believe the law states how long you have to have it before it's considered theft.

Good question though.

I would not worry about it... seriously... how many people do you know have EVER been in trouble for downloading music/movies??!?!?!? Yes, it COULD be a crime in some instances... who is going to prosecute?!?!? and why would they prosecute YOU, mister small potatoes, when there are others out there doing it for a living to cash in on SELLING the movies, on DVD or songs on CD... not just enjoying them for their own personal benefit.

It's not a question of whether he'll get caught or not, unless I misunderstood the question. The answer is yes, it is illegal to view a stream of copyrighted material if you do not have the rights to view it.

OK, that's what I was confused about; if it was technically still "downloading". Thanks.

Way to break it down to what the real question was.

There's shit-tons of sites. I found out one, from a guy at work, but Google brings up tons of sites.

They have yet to prosecute a single case of streamed music or video, and they would be on very shaky legal ground to do so because you do not possess a full copy of it, nor can you redistribute it. Long story short, it MAY be illegal, but they really can't prosecute it.

OK good. Because I've watched a bunch of movies in the past week laugh.gif .

Wanted: OK movie, over the top action, Angelinas nekkid backside.
The Strangers: Makes owning a gun even more relevant (if the fool in the movie knew how to use it).
Hancock: Better than I thought, but still not great.
Semi-Pro: Some funny lines, but over-all mediocre. (I died when Will Ferrel said "Suck my cock, I'll murder your family" to a priest/referee. I laughed for a good 5 minutes)
Street Kings: Waste of time, but lots of gunplay.
The Happening: Interesting, I guess.
