The other days I was looking through my parts box for a AK grip screw. I found one, but it was really a crummy looking fastener! The screw head was cut off center and it was brown with rust patina.
So I went down to the local Ace hardware and looked for a replacement. I was disappointed! The screw I needed would be a M6 X 100mm - 1.00 MM Pitch. They had no longer then 70mm.
So, I Googled "M6 X 100m" and found this company, right here in Georgia named Carpenter Creek Inc.
They had the correct sized screw in a Black Oxide Finish Alloy Socket Head Cap Screw Metric Class 12.9 for $1.39! I ordered 4! I also think that the Allen head gives a cleaner look in this application.
Shipping was reasonable and my whole order came to less then $6.00.
I was about to post their link, but I just noticed that they just raised the price to $6.00 each plus S&H!
Which unless you really want an Allen head in this application, this is now a little high for this screw. Oh, well if still interested, there you go!

Guess they realized, "Oh, a LOT of gun users are going to want this screw!" Oh well, if you need one and can't find it, there you go.

OK guyes, I made a mistake. Google took me directly to the ordering page. The $6 price is apparently for
a pack of 4. That would be $1.50 each and a good deal for a high quality pistol grip screw.
They also sell them in a 24 pack for $34 for our commercial builders.
Go
HERE and look for "
F92 6MM or M6 X 100MM Alloy Socket Head Cap Screw"
I have no affiliation with the company. HTH!

Nice find, Azrial.
Now how about a cheap source of the nuts?

Most hardware stores have the 6.0x1.0 screws. I got a stainless one for mine.
Another place for fasteners is Fastenall or other fastener supply houses. They'll order what you need if they don't have what you need in stock. I got my U drive screws for an AK build from them.

I have not found any hardware stores that carry the M6 1.0 Pitch in 100 mm length. Your area many have tons of stores that carry them in this length, but I could not even find them in that length at a specially metric fastener supply house.
Do a Google on
M6 X 100mm allen head cap screw and see what I mean.

Azrial, let us know if the head of your bolt is too big to fit in the pistol grip recess. It's it's bigger than 8mm in diameter it's not gonna fit.

Thanks for the good info. It's sad when all I do at a gun show is walk out with grip nuts, screws and FCG kits.

Now how about a cheap source of the nuts?
Don't hold your breath, I have never seen a source for a nut like that, pretty much a specialized application.
I have made my own nut, by using a small sheet metal rectangle, with a hole drilled in it, then welding a nut, on an angle to the sheet metal rectangle.
I needed to file the edges of the welds down so it would drop through the hole, but it let me use an english screw I had on hand.
All in all, how many of these do you ever really need?
