Some guys have it and some guys don't. As Clint Eastwood said in one of the Dirty Harry movies, "A good man knows his limitations."

I simply suck at hands on projects. I admit it. There, I feel better now that I've aired that in public.

I cut 8 strips of 1" x 1" to glue together. The purpose was to put my shorter guns on this raised surface so they will fit in my safe more securely. So, I get them cut and Gorilla glue the first three strips of wood together. We leave to get a burger. After an hour or so, I get back home and get ready to finish my project. Well, of course some of the glue oozed out and I glued the wood to my work bench! Am I most most "project challenged" guy on this board, or what? Luckily, the glue had not set fully and I was able to pry it off with some effort. This of course, broke apart my nicely glued strips of wood.

So, those of you who can glue three pieces of wood together without screwing it up, I salute you!

Sand them down a reglue them.
Get a couple of pipe clamps to hold them while the glue sets up.
You can do it I promise.

Actually WJ you were almost there. The only part you missed was wiping up the excess glue with a damp cloth. You want that glue to squeeze out to create a tight bond. No doubt you noticed how effective it was when prying it off the workbench.

Hang in there man.

Bless your heart WJ! Dude at least you aren't scared to jump in there feet first and start doing something like that....like when you painted your daughter's bedroom.
Many of us learned glue squish technology...lol....in shop class while you were hitting the books hard to learn how to work at that other bench...the BIG ONE with the gavel on it. 000.gif
I wouldn't want to try and trade jobs with ya there....
Man, you're local. Any time you need some technical assistance with anything of that sort, just gimme a call.

LOL, aww man, you just need the 6 pack approach, down it and give er another try, if that don't work, blame the wife wink.gif

Is that kinda like beef curtains?

Dude its not your fault. Gorilla glue it notorious for doing that. No one expects it to expand like that...

Hey WJ, are you one of those unlucky guys that was absent that one day in High School where they took all the guys into the auditorium and taught them everything they'd ever need to know about building, tool usage, auto maintenance and home repair? You know the day we're not supposed to talk about to anyone who wasn't there.

If you don't know what I'm talking about then please ignore this post, it's just gibberish.

WAX PAPER.
Gorrilla Glue is a dangerous tool! I never attempt to use it unless I can put wax paper down. My woodshop is above the garage, and is all wood. Wood floor is even harder than a workbench to get UH-OH!'s off of!
Anywhere that that stuff can even think of F'ing up gets wax papered!

Don't give up just because Gorrilla Glue whupped up on ya, it gets EVERYONE! You ain't used Gorrila Glue at all unless you ruin at least a couple pairs of pants and a shirt or two, and have the crap stuck on your fingers for a couple days after using it.

Dude, this is how we learn. I'm pretty handy, and perhaps some of it just comes natural. But I'm still learning stuff like this all the time. Gorilla glue is a urethane compound that expands. You kind of have to play around with it before you get an idea of what to expect from it. The next time you use that product it will go better. Don't let minor setbacks and frustrations paralyze you or keep you from your next project. Learn and do, do and learn.

I do not mind trying and failing on small projects, but for something as expensive as a Saiga 12? Nope, not gonna happen wink.gif
