I was digging through a my files doing some research and came across an article that I thought was interesting concerning George H. Bush who broke three campaing promises within the first three months of office (1989-1993). This was the "read my lips, no new taxes" guy.

And how is this significantly different from Obama's plan? unsure.gif

And what possible relevance does it have as we enter this election? The last I heard Bush was not eligible for re-election.

Absolutely none Azrial. I grew weary of our current predicament and looked at a little history that marked the stoppage of my contributions to the Republican party. I vote Republican but can no longer throw a lot of money their way because it was wasted in almost every circumstance. Are we relegated to only discussing the current election. If so, that is fine. The indication was why the President has done so poorly imo. It was not a post to get folks to not vote for him LOL. He isn't running. unsure.gif

No sir, you of course welcome to discuss whatever you like. I would hope that the same goes for my comment. But there is a tendency among many to use Bush's failures to tarnish McCain and diminish his electablity. This seems most common with RonBots.

At this point in our history that is all that can be accomplished by talking about Bush. If you feel that Obama's Marxist "Change" is for the betterment of America I understand your motivations in posting this now. If on the other hand you are planing to hold your nose like most of the rest of us and vote McCain, I fail to see your point.

Well hell! Now I fail to see my point as well. Good point and I'll wait till the election season is over to carry on. I have said on many occassions that I intend to vote McCain/Palin. I see your point about assholes trying to connect Bush and McCain for nefarious reasons. Apparently my thinker isn't hitting on all cylinders today. sad.gif

I was not picking a fight! I am just tired of some attempts to tie McCain (AKA: McSame in Liberal Lingo) to the "failures" of George Bush, a president that was quite popular with most during the response to 9/11.

I have read a good bit of your stuff and doubt that we are that different politically and was surprised when I misunderstood this as your intent.

Bush Sr. was a disaster with his 'New World Order' and his banning the import of AKs and other military look alike guns. Obama is worse because if he has a DemcRAT majority they will steamroll over our gun rights and he might even do a New Orleans style gun confiscation. Islam and freedom are not compatible. Islam means subjugation and submission. I don't want a repetition of Germay in the early 1930s when Hitler came to power.

Are you saying Obama is Muslim or Islamic? I thought even John McCain said recently that he was not. Anyway, just a small bit of trivia, perhaps someone on here can help me confirm,

in every presidential election since WWII that the republicans have won, there has been either a Nixon or a Bush on the ticket. IMHO, Nixon was one of the best presidents in our history. His foreign policy team ha never been matched, not even close, but I'm a Nixon fan.

John and Barry are just trying to stay away from the "ugly" political mud slinging, that's why they have been nice to each other lately. laugh.gif

Reverend Jeremiah Wright (even if he's not actually a Muslim) is still too full of hate towards ole "Whitey" for me to be comfortable with how Barry might truly be thinking though, so that will still affect my voting for him. unsure.gif
