Well, I took my S.308 out today, and finally got the POSP scope figured out. I'm hitting a bit high and to the left, but I'm getting about 3" groups at 100 or so yards. This is way better than I've been doing with the scope, before it was so bad off that I would get 2 or 3 shots out of 10 on paper, which were usually just a fluke. I'm going to do a bit more tweaking with it, and I expect to have much better groups, especially when I get on a bench and table, instead of the roof of my car.

On top of getting my rifle to work like I wanted it, I called a guy who had an ad in the classifieds for ammo. He had some chinese steel core 7.62x39, he wanted $700 for 900 rounds. I told him that was more than I could spend. He says "well, I got a few of these AK drum magazines. A 75 round and a 100 round." I said, well, what do you want for the 100 round. 150 bucks. I'll take it. I told him I'll give you $200 for both of them. He said $225. Fuck it. I'll take both. So I drove about 20 minutes north of town, and came out with these things:




Both appear to be brand new, in the plastic bags and still have the cosmoline or whatever type of grease they put on them.

I talked to the guy for about an hour, got a cup of coffee with him at the McDonalds. He said he had a couple of heart attacks a few months ago, I kinda got the feeling that he felt like he didn't really have much time left, and was happy to get this kind of stuff into someone else's hands. Anyway, I'm super happy right now, I don't know what I should do with the 75 round. I already have one of the Bulgarian ones they were selling at Copes a couple of months ago, this one is marked with a 36 in a triangle. The 100 rounder doesn't have any markings on it.

What do y'all think I should do?

I don't know if I want to sell one of the 75 rounders or not. If I do, I'll probably trade it and some cash to my buddy for one of his AK pistols. I really want to get one, and they are super hard to find for a decent price right now. I want an AK pistol with one of quad rail hand guards and a green laser sight. With a drum on that shit, man, I'd hold it in one hand and pleasure myself with the other.

If I were to sell one, I think right now would definitely be the time to do it, as I think the hysteria will reside in a few months, and then I'd have to wait a couple of years to get a decent return. I'm really hoping I can get an AK pistol for the low low with a trade.

EDIT: Does it mean I'm an asshole for wanting to sit on some stuff and make money on it, or should I be trying to get it in someone else's hands who will use it, for "the cause"?

There's nothing wrong with buying at a given price, and selling a little higher to make some money, IMO. It's when I see some people asking ridiculous prices for stuff, that it bothers me. But then again, it's their shit, they can sell it for whatever they want, if someone is willing to buy.

I don't personally know you, but from seeing you post, I doubt you'd fall into the "rape" category when trying to make some extra money, like some of these other assholes I've seen.

Two drums are kinda like nekkid boobies, if you hold them up to a torso. Just as good as far as I'm concerned, for the time being. Priorities, bro.

Oh yeah, and to top off the good luck, I went to Dick's sporting goods today to get the slugs and buckshot they are having a sale on right now (thanks Fatboy for the heads up). Anyway, I get in there and get a basket full of them, and about half of them had a price sticker from Galyan's, which I assume is another sporting goods store, or what Dick's used to be called. The stickers were for $1.99 or $2.49. So I asked the dude at the counter what was up, and he was like "fuck it, I'll just ring them all up for the lowest price." So now I got 45 rounds of Remington slugs and buckshot for less than $20 out the door. I have the rebate coupon for $2 off a box, up to 6 boxes. I wonder if they'll honor it?

Fill one, dump it, have a video camera handy. SCORE anyway. Especially in november.
