heres the reply from when i asked when the AK tech sights will be ready....

Thank you for the interest in Tech-SIGHTS and the AK sight. We are very excited about how this sight is working out. It has been needed for a long time. We are entering in the tooling up stage of the product. Our intention was to machine the sights ourselves but soon determined that it was too costly for us to do as the sight required a good amount of machining. We have decided to do a MIM part which boils down to a cast steel, not cast iron but steel, part. This will give a quality sight at a reasonable price. However to do this tooling will require a couple more months on the front end and sights will not be available late winter to early spring. Our target price range is $100-125. We will post pictures of the production units as soon as we have the tooling finalized. The sight will attach to the tee slot in the rear trunion. This will allow for a stabile mount and easy take down for field stripping. A new cover is required and will be supplied with each sight.

Best regards,

Larry Nesseth

You will have to keep your tang to use these sights, correct?

It's your tang,.....

Is something drilled into the tang? Also looks like its part of the receiver cover...

not quite clear yet on what its gonna be, but i'm in no hurry to get one until i see a actual picture of how its installed, apparently they give you another dust cover but its not actually attached to the dust cover (good thing too) so we'll see when it comes out i guess...the picture they have now doesn't quite tell the whole story...

My first question should have been, "how does the new cover lock down if rear tab of the recoil assembly can't be seen?" smile.gif

I have been following this sight for a while. I would be interested in how well it holds zero.
Frankly, if it doesn't, it is useless.

It looks interesting, I have found that Tech Sights make a high quality sight.

I posted this some time ago, I went a different route as far as mounting a Tech Sight on my Saiga. I purchased the 10/22 sight and altered it to conform to the curvature of the Saiga dustcover, it is excellent and holds its settings.

The only complaint I have is that the 2 apertures are still too large in diameter, because when you sight the front sight, you get the protective wings in your sight picture. I had used a Mojo peep sight on this Sagia rifle and since the point of view was farther from my eyes, I didn't see the wings like I do with the Tech Sight.

But, Tech Sights should be congratulated to go out on a limb to develop a new type of sight for AK's.
