Full Version: How to remove the stock?

I searched first and didn't find anything, so I am posting this question.

I removed the top and bottom mounting screws and the stock is not wanting to come off of the receiver. Do I take a rubber mallet to it or is there more to removing it?

I purchased an Ace folding skeleton stock (for an un-converted Saiga) that is supposed to be a direct bolt-on. It came in peices with an instruction sheet that appears to have instructions for stocks other than the p/n I purchased. I have tried calling them all day and when I finally got thru, I spoke to someone who didn't seem to know what was going on and I ended up on hold for over five minutes and I hung up. Not a great first impression, especially after spending $199 shipped for this thing.

I am going to see if I can make some sense of it this evening.

Thanks....

There are 3 screws.

Open up the dust cover and remove the spring and you'll find the last screw.

Thanks Guys.

I have removed the 3rd screw and the stock. The receiver block fits into my receiver, but has mounting holes on both sides of it, requiring drilling holes into both sides of the receiver of my AK. There is also a tapped hole in the bottom of the receiver block that is threaded into by a bolt up thru the pistol grip, which misses the tab with the hole in it, hanging back from the trigger loop thing, which may be by design.

I bought this setup because the ad on the site said "no modifcations to your Saiga are required". I wonder if I got the wrong parts?

Thanks...

Do you have a link?

I can't type in the exact web address, as I'm posting from my phone, as I'm having my computer worked on, but, I can tell you how to get there. Go to www.riflestocks.com and enter the site, then on the left you will see AK in the list, browse to that and choose AK Saiga from the flyout. The stock I purchased is the 7th one down, part number: AKRBS-FX(_)-FS. A folding skeleton stock with pistol grip.

Thanks...

That's it. Thanks...

You should only have to install the top 2 screws. (Directly on the stock and under the dust cover.)

It should be a tight enough hold where the third screw is not needed.
But don't hate me if I'm wrong.

Well, that's what I expected. It came in peices. I got it installed, but I question it. The receiver block is held onto the receiver by 1 bolt? I need to shim the pistol grip I guess, as it rocks up and down a bit.

Hopefully they will call me today and we will get it straightenend out.

Thanks..

Or you can cut your losses as I did when I first bought my Saiga, I tried to cut all the corners and the guys here kept telling me to just convert the Saiga the right way and stop wasting money on cheep toys for it.

The convertion is way easy tooooo easy to do and you really don't need any big tools to do any of the work, I bought all the ight stuff to do my convertion and thought it would take a least a week to do it all. I mail ordered all the parts watched all the utube videos on saiga and AK's,,, lot's of suport on video out there!!!

Any way in 24 hours the rifle was done paint and all and she came out way sweet I'm glad the guys talked me into just doing it after so I was mad at myself for holding out because I thought I'd wreck my rifle what a puss I was!!!

If I can rebuild my Saiga you can it's easy and fun to do and it kept me out of the wifes hair for half a week till she found my gun parts in her oven the shit hit the fan...

I love my Rifle more because I know it inside out might as well say I built it, tehe... Oh yeah I DID!!!!

SAVE MONEY AND DON'T CHEAT YOURSELF KNOW YOUR RIFLE.

I appreciate your input, but I have to disagree. I hardly call the hardware from Ace as cheaping out or toy quality. perhaps you have there products mixed up with another company. The only thing sub-par until now is the customer service.

If someone lived close to me that knew about converting, I would have considered it before plunking down $185 for the folding stock w/pistol grip, but that was not the case.

*Update*

I am inept. I messed with it a little more and the fit is great. The instructions were lacking, but the hardware is solid. Now I save my lunch money for a fore stock from Gilberts and some pictanny accessories.

Thanks all...
