Title says it all--does anyone know exactly what kind of paint they use?

If so where can it be obtained?

If it can't be had here in the USA--what kind of paint is compatable? (nearly the same).

If you want to go the distance, invest in DuraCoat. You can do your whole rifle for about $40.

For a sprayer you can go to about any paint store and buy a little compressed gas unit called PreVal. .
It is literally a spray can with a glass container attached. You unscrew the jar to add the paint (DuraCoat). Screw the jar back on and you are ready to paint.

They cost about $8 and the sprayer puts out a perfect light mist just like you want with DuraCoat. If you run out of gas, then you can buy just the canister of gas for about $4. Screw it on the same glass jar and paint again.

If you just want to touch up, then you can use;

1.) BBQ grill paint
2.) Engine enamel
3.) Duplicolor Car Enamel

For scratches you can't beat a Birchwood Casey Presto Cold Blue Pen . You can fix a bright scratch and keep the blue within 1/8th of an inch or less if you are careful. It’s not rocket science either. You just clean the scratch with alcohol; use the pen to go over the scratch, wait about 30 seconds and then wipe off with a Q-tip wetted with cold water. If you want it darker just repeat. When you have the color you want, after you do the cold water just coat the area with a good CLP (cleaner, lubricant, protectant) like Break-Free or Rem-Oil.
