Hi Guys.. I was wondering if anyone ever tried to install lower HG retainers from an AMD65 on a Saiga 7.62x39. I've found a few for pretty cheap, and they would seem ideal because they have the forward sling mounting point already on them.. Thanks, J

If your going to install those you'll need to drill and pin your barrel. Unless you know what you are doing, I'd forgo that idea and get one of these instead. http://www.dinzagarms.com/saiga_762x39/akbor1.html

Expensive, but a whole lot cheaper than paying a gunsmith to mount the other types. Very solid mount. Very good quality and customer service is almost unparalleled.

I've got a x39 that has all of the correct slots already in place on the barrel, came that way from the factory. I would just press off the FSB and GB, and drop the retainer on...assuming barrel diameter was same as ID of the retainer.

Oh, okay. However, you mentioned "press off" the FSB. Good! if you have access to a press. They are a bear to wrestle off otherwise. The real problem then is getting the FSB back on strait. I can't help you there. I'd ask around here or check the tech section for advice on how it's done.
