I'm trying to do some research for a buddy of mine.

He trying to get Saiga mags in Mass, but out-of-state companies wont ship, and his local guy is too busy to help him get any.

Any place in Mass that might have some? Thanks in advance.

Ganted I am not a lawyer so please take this as it is offered in good faith. (I have no real idea in other words) naaaa.gif

1st, From a quick look at the MGL it looks like a magazine holding 10 rounds in a shotgun would not be banned. It would fall however under the large capacity rule as it holds more than 5 rounds. Thus your friend would need to have a Class A license.

2nd (and very likely) The magazine may fall (like an AR +10 round mag) into the assault weapons ban which would mean that the mag would have to be produced prior to 10-98 as the Mass AWB never sunset like most of the county. Thus the mag would be illegal to posess in the state. In Mass. it is my understanding that only Magazines which were in this state prior to 10/98 are legal to posess.

Even if he can have the mag in the state you are still faced with getting one here. Many suppliers will not ship to Mass even if the item is legal to posess in MA. It is just easier to right off MA sales rather than get caught in some BS Legal hoopla.

I know what you are thinking...

Unfortuneatly I do. unsure.gif

He can also ask/search on Northeast Shooters forum there is a lot of good regional info and a legal section where he might get a more direct answer.

Yeah, I understand the issues. You can own Pre-ban mags in Mass, but the problem is getting them.

I'll tell him about the forum, thanks.
