I took a cardboard toilet paper tube which is about 40mm and cut it to 3.8 inches which is the basic size of the truglo red dot I was looking at. I taped it to the side mount rail and it seems HUGE.

Anybody with a sight this large care to chime in? There is also a 30mm. Which is a better fit for my 7.62? Is a sight that large a pain in the ass?

Thanks in advance.

I've got a 40mm on an Ultimak. I'm sure a 30 would be fine.

I use a 30, it aint to big, I am sure a 40 would be fine....and quicker.

I've got a 30mm Millet red dot on my 9mm AR. It's just right for me.

What's your main concern? The 40 being too big and bulky?

Yeah that's pretty much it..... I really don't want it to look like a 4 D cell mag-lite up there. It needs to be big enough but huge.

Also it's going to mount to the side rail mount I have so it's going to feel right in my face no matter what.
