  1. Now that Dinzag's baby has arrived (congratulations and best wishes to him and his family), it looks like his business is going to be slow for quite awhile. Unfortunately, I picked this time to start swapping out parts to make my .223 922r compliant. All I need to complete my rifle is a factory configured FCG and a new gas piston. However, I have no idea where else to get an FCG like the one Dinzag makes. To make matters worse, I need someone to install the gas piston into the bolt carrier (without being price gouged by Gander Mountain). Until then, my rifle sits incomplete, gathering dust in my gun cabinet, its guts stored in a toolbox.

Where else can I turn to?

You can talk to cobra customs, or do it yourself for the FCG. I would actually look localy for the piston install first, the guys here seem pretty busy. Maybe one of them could get it done for you.

  2. You need to watch this video:

This video features a Saiga 7.62x39.

Is is done the same way on the .20 Gauge?

Also i'm interested in doing the conversion on the 20 guage. Where can I obtain all the parts to do it?

Yes, the basics are the same. The vendors on this forum can get you pretty much anything you need. I converted my s-12 using tromix parts, my .233 with dinzag parts.

What I'd like to know is if a vertical foregrip placed on the rail of that handguard allows for enough space to load an AGP 10 round magazine. I currently have a halo quadrail and my foregrip is a little further away than I like it to be, but if I had it any closer I wouldn't be able to load my mags as easily. This is not an issue with the 5 round mag but I want to be able to use my 10 rounders.

    Would a "stubby" grip work?

  4. I just figured I would ask the NRA about this. This is the response I got.

    Thank you for your email.

We are aware of the de-mil brass issue and have been in contact with officials at DOD regarding this matter and are working to get it resolved.

Please check our website www.nraila.org or contact us directly via email or 800-392-8683 for future updates.

  5. You can replace the gas puck by the King Armory one and the gas plug by Gunfixr's plug (available through MD Arms)
Thanks, but I really dont want to put any more money in it, unless one of these was a surefire fix? which one would you try first?

Tell you what, I'll send you a tappet. If it fixes your problem, pay the invoice, if it doesn't take care of your problem then send it back. Sound reasonable?

THAT is customer service. It also shows a faith in your product.

  6. i paid $559 for mine here in NJ, I hear they go for mid 3's or so in the red states, I'd say your gun with all that stuff is probably 700-900 dollars new.

Only if you can find one these days. People can advertise any price they want on something they can't sell you.

  7. I did my s-12 and .223 on an old desk. You can do it if you take your time. The one thing you will need to find is a very good and stable place to be able to knock out the ground off rivets.

Here is the first conversion guide I used.

It is for a rifle but alot of the principals are the same.

If you are looking for a "true" AK look check out Dinzag's site.

He also has links to some cool furniture options.

Cobra customs also have some cool ideas.

  8. Two things come to mind to check. First, does the trigger need to be "pushed" foward to get the sear to engage the hammer? Second, work the FCG with the bolt carrier out using your thumb to control the hammer. I wonder if you need to get more tension with the hammer spring on the rear legs of the trigger.
