Is it illegal to have a 30 round mag in massghanistan. I was at the range today with my newly adapted Saiga and this guy freeked out cuz I was shooting with a 30 round pro mag magazine. He said possesion of these is a felony. Is this for real?

I bought 2 pro mags, they are not saiga and I do have bullet guide. Every time I racked a round in it would smash into the side of the breach. Did a little dremmeling on the mag and ground down the bullet guide and everything cycles ok....just need to get some range time to really see if it works

Ok I just got a bunch of new Master Molder mags (10 :-) and I'm having a problem that I can't seem to correct. I was testing them in a 20" 7.62x39 with a flat trunnion and no bullet guide.
They seemed to work fine when I cycle the rounds by hand but when I had the mags out on the range to test them out I put 3rnds in each test mag, and what I found was about 80% of the time I would fire the first round and then it would eject the spent casing plus a unused round resulting in no round in the chamber+one round left in the magazine.
I lowered the front lip on one of the mags to try to match it to the height of the factory mag and kept getting the same result, and continually lowered the front lip until it was noticeably less high than the factory mags, same symptom no change throughout.
So at this point I started to get frustrated and thought maybe these mags are just fckd, so I pulled out my converted 16" (round trunnion w/dinzag's bullet guide) and them fired a series of 3rnds per mags in the mag with the lowered lip and the mags without, zero problems every round fed and fired.
I modified the catches on each mag to fit tightly into the weapon not the weapon to fit the mags.
Has anyone had these same kind of issues? Or have any idea how to resolve them? Only thing I can think of is install a bullet guide and see if that helps...

Wrong and wrong. It is a true conversion and the trigger is moved to the forward position.
I stand corrected.
However, friends don't let friends put something that hideous on their AK's!

i agree.. those stocks are butt ugly... when I first started looking for a way to change my saiga i saw those stocks and decided to leave my weapon alone. then, thank god i found this site

I must put out the good word for Dinzag and his custom parts. I ordered a bullet guide last week and it just arrived over the weekend. Inside the order he included a bunch of the little plastic 5mm plugs to fill the extra receiver holes left when you drill out the original fire control group. I must say I am very impressed. While these parts don't cost that much, it is the extra effort he put in to show that he values his customers. I stopped in at my local hardware stores and could not find the damn things. (They were all to large.) Well I have been wanting to get the little plugs and just haven't had the time to go out and get them. So when they showed up as an "extra" in the order - well I was pumped. Keep up the great work Dinzag - dude you rock!!
ditto... plus the instructions on his web site are a huge help.........can't say enough

I just completed most of my saiga conversion and really enjoyed doing it. I am now considering purchasing another just to do it again and create a new variant.

I believe the sling you should use depends on what you want to use it for. "Tactical" ones like the 3 point ones with QD stuff aren't going to be great for hunting, etc. Those might be good for 3 gun stuff though, I dunno.
So what are you doing with your Saiga?
mainly home defense, varmit conrol , and hunting

jeez what is this world coming to or should i say country !! people are so scared of "assault rifles''. Shotguns can reak more havoc if you think about it. arrrgh I can't take it...what's the dillio between one 30 round clip and three 10 rounders

Just looking for recomendations for a sweet rifle sling. I don't care for the chinese ak slings, that stamped buckle drives me nuts. My weapon has an m-4 tapco stock and I'm going to put a swivel on the front grip. any input will be appreciated. Thank folks...Dana

Ok ,I have totally dismantaled my rifle with ease and to my surprise and relief the grip and trigger holes were already cut.
So now I'm at the step for installing the trigger guard with the pan head screws. My question is should the screw heads be on the inside or the outside of the reciever ? The illustrations I've seen show both, and how in the heck do you get the one in, and tightened under the mag release?
