This is what I want to do.
I want to take a Saiga and convert it back to an original Izhmash military version via registering it as an SBS.
I will be using as many original Izhmash parts as possible.
I need to know how I can get a front sight base on the barrel, the barrel shortened to the factory 430mm length or a replacement barrel pressed in, flash hider, etc...
Stock trunnion mods for a folder?
Rear AK style sight to replace the blade style sight?
I'm not interested in "the easy way" to do this. I'm not going for the look. I'm not interested in aftermarket mods or enhancements.
I know this will be expensive and take alot of time. I've been doing this kind of stuff for a long time.

I want to know this so I can find a base gun to build a conversion off of it.
I want to know where I might hit a snag.

I would like to know every variation of a Saiga-12 since they have been imported and the dates and serial numbers that correspond with these variations.
Manufacturing variations to the receiver, barrel, gas system, trunnions, trigger/hammer group, etc I would like to know.

You guys have been very helpful.
I haven't decided on the exact configuration yet. I've been going through some pictures of Russian personnel but I don't have that many pictures. Perhaps if you know of a source for more pictures.
What I need to know for my immediate next step is how do I tell if a IZ-109 has a bolt hold open. I will be buying this off the internet NIB so I can't physically check.
