Sweet, AK porn;-)

I've heard that the .308 Saiga is more accurate from an 18" barrel than a 22" barrel due to harmonics. (vibration of the barrel)
Does anyone know if this is true or not. Has there been any research or studies done to substantiate this claim?

I like the above definition of Zombies. Being an old school, old timer; Bob Hope strike me as right on. Enjoy, I know I did.
1911
Sorry about that 1911, I posted the same clip.
It is the greatest movie line ever!

This will clear up any ambiguity...

If you do something for .308 owners, be sure to let us know over in the low rent district;-)

What do you have for .308 owners?

Out of the closet Republicans are a rare breed in Hollyweird.
Usually if you want to work in that town you keep your right leaning opinions to yourself.
Liberals love diversity unless you disagree with them.

If one was in the market for a 30-80 year old Winchester/Marlin/Savage/Mossberg .22 bolt rifle, then this the best show ever. They had tons of em. I wonder if more than half of em even work?
The only articles of interest were a couple of Garands (the cheapest going for $800..) and exactly one Saiga .308 for $700.
I know it's a given, but I'll say it anyway: Kalifornia sucks.
Yes it does. We get the government we deserve....

My Surefires work great!

Very good question, I just ordered the low profile version of that mount. I was hoping it would be perfectly centered...

We need pics please!

If my understanding is correct, weren't the first AK's milled as opposed to stamped?
-
Okay, I've made up my mind to start my conversion with a nice mount and scope.
I'm thinking Nikon Buckmaster 3-9 x 40 with a good side mount that centers the scope over the dust cover. I'd like a high mount so I can still use the iron sights if needed.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction for the scope mount which doesn't have to be quick release.
Thanks!
Here's one from Mississippi Auto Arms and they are a business member here so you can tell them that you are a member and receive a 5% discount.
Thanks TR, of course I've changed my mind to a low mount, but the one from MAA look good, I'll give 'em a call and see what they have.

a lot of us use really cheap ammo, but berdan primed stuff isn't that bad, did you check your unfired rounds for any firing pin markings? as far as dry firing in your manual you got with your saiga it says do not, but i don't see any real fault with it.....
Yeah I checked for firing pin marks and didn't find any. I'm going to relocate my trigger and buff out any moving parts that look suspect. I'm sure it's an easy fix once I locate the problem.
The older thread that addressed the same problem has some really good pics and info.

Here is an older thread with some very good info concerning the problem I was having. So if anyone else has experienced the same thing this thread may help. Get past some of the troll postings because gunnysmith really supplies some good pics and info (on 2nd pg.) here:

Is it possible that the crap ammo I was using had anything to do with this malfunction?
Ammo in question:
Norinco ChinaSports .308win
Berdan Primed
Steel Case
Non-corrosive
Lead core
147 Gr. FMJ

Good luck with it GeinoD, I took mine out today and had a great time with it, when it was working.

Thanks for your response gunny, both hammer springs are in the rear of the trigger/sear assembly. I'll try lubing it up and see if that helps. I'll try to go out again this week to check it out. BTW, is it okay to dry fire the AK?
Thanks!
