  1. My 87 Suburban gets around 12 MPG. My 85 Bronco about the same. i just can't picture myself in anything different when there is blizzard conditions at 90 MPH wind speed, snowing conditions, when all I want to do is get home. Small cars may be fine for city commuting, but aren't worth a hoot for long term, deer infested, isolated hiway commutes. Gas mileage would be a cool goal in a city environment. It just isn't a reality where I live. 4 wheel drive is a way of life.

  2. Good luck man. I mean that. At least you are trying. I hate smoking. I've made it a habit to hate smokers too all my life if they are inconsiderate with their nasty habit and don't totally respect my right to breath clean air. (or at least free from their personal pollution cloud)

It's really sad how some people let it control about every aspect of their lives. They just don't realize how much they are truly enslaved, and how much better things would be for them, and all those who come in contact with them, if they would just stop doing it.

As said above, the financial gains alone should be enough to tip the scale...then there's that little thing called cancer....:killer:

Bro, believe me on this one... WE KNOW ALL TO WELL HOW MUCH WE ARE TRULY ENSLAVED!!

It just sucks Sooooo much dealing with the agitation that comes with quitting!

You should try quitting... Don't piss for 2 days.

That is what it is like. You try not to think about it, but it is all you can think about. Eventually you feel like you are about to explode!

I personally spend around $300.00 a month on Camels.

But be prepared... We are the new "er" that society deems fit to persecute & we know it. I get to pay for everyones kids healthcare through my tobacco tax & I don't even have kids!

So when someone comes up to me while I am outside, relaxing after a stressful event & starts pussy-aching about me smoking... DUCK! Because I will tell them exactly where to shove their opinion.

It is as if I don't have enough grief with this shitty addiction & someone confronts me outdoors because they smell something!?!

Do the same people chase down people with visible emissions coming out of their tailpipes? NO.

What about people with body oder? That is a damn sight more annoying to be in line with a rank filthy douche than getting a whiff of smoke from 20' away.

If they think it will kill them, they should "run for their lives".

If they come off all in your face, they may find themselves doing that anyhow.

    Waaaaaa! :cryss: Persecution!

Not anyone's fault but yours that you are paying for the roads I drive on, or the other people's kids' healthcare. I don't have kids either but if it was me stinking up the world with my smoke, I'd be happy that something good was coming out of it, not whining about it like you are whining about being the new "er" that society loves to hate. I would also be very considerate and not get upset if MY stinky habit was offensive to normal people who just want to breath the clean air without me polluting their space. You all feel so "persecuted" and it's so stupid. Yeah I've heard all the arguments..."It's legal! I can do it if I want! Should be able to do it anywhere I want! (yeah so is farting...are you one of those people who float a nasty air biscuit in a crowded elevator and laugh about it, instead of just holding it in til you get to your floor?)" It's my body! If I get cancer that's MY problem! (yep, your body so you should be able to do whatever you want with it right? Well this is MY body, and MY sensitive sniffer, and I have a right to take in a nice deep breath of fresh air when I walk outside a building, without having to choke on nasty polluted air because someone like you (or several people) is gathered all around every exit smoking away like a bunch of chimneys! The damn smoke clings to the outside of public buildings and hangs under the porches, especially in the cold. If you must go out and "relax" then go sit in your own smelly vehicle and do it where you can take in all that beautiful air to yourself) I also should have a right to not worry about getting any cancer causing second hand smoke! If I wanted to smell that shit, or put it in my body and take the risk, I would be the one wasting that money on a pack or two of smokes every day.

If you despise people who frown on stinky air, as much as they despise you for making the air stink, then it's YOU who should have to watch out for them, not the other way around. YOU are the one who is causing the problem in the first place.

And that's just OUTSIDE that I'm talking about.

We non smokers are finally starting to get some consideration from the government law makers and are not forced to endure the nasty shit inside public buildings and vehicles, or other modes of transportation, like we once were....yet you call that persecution...

Why don't you try to sit down and have a nice dinner in a restaurant, and while you are paying good money for a great meal in a nice "relaxing" environment, and are about to take that first bite of that awesome T Bone...then you get a whiff of some inconsiderate bastard's cigar or cigarette that's drifting over into your booth from the "smoking section":ded:

Some smokers think it was persecution when they were first made to stay in one part of the restaurant with their habit. ( or rather, it was more like us who enjoy the unhindered aroma of good food in a place like that, were finally given the option to sit on the other side at least, away from where you are...like that really helps that much if you look up at the smoke cloud floating all over the place...)

Naaa please save your argument about how badly you are being persecuted and you "know it".... I hope they outlaw the damn things all together. Smoking pot is safer than tobacco. It contains no nicotine to create all the junkies that tobacco does, yet it IS illegal. Also, unlike tobacco, it has many positive uses that would save us many many dollars in the textile industry. But cigs are legal and pot is not. There's something very wrong with that picture.

And please don't cry to me about how hard it is to quit doing something you like. I LOVE beer. I LOVE food. I used to indulge, even over indulge in both on a daily basis, for about the last 26 years in fact. How old are you?

I now have cancer though, a type that's oddly enough, caused by alcohol and tobacco only. I do not drink liquor often and I HATE fucking cigarettes! But since my dad smoked the fuck out of camel non filters all his life, just like with his father did, and they also both drank way too much liquor, and beer.... I got that shit passed down to me genetically.

So because of that, I HAVE had to quit doing things I like to do very much, like eat food and drink beer, or anything for that matter! So don't tell me to quit pissing! I'll piss right on ya!:killer:

    Rant off!

I agree with you 100 % and I especially hate saase that don't bother to shower or put on pit stop. But I smoke Menthol cigarettes. They give me a clean minty feel in my mouth and a clean minty smell to my clothes. I hate regular cigs as much as anybody. (Ihope you can see I am just joking, yes I smoke Menthol, but I always ask if anybody minds if I smoke and try to be as discrete as possible. If it bothers people, In don't do it around them. And yes, I'm aware that I still smell, though, I've had people tell me that they would have never known I'm a smoker because I don't reek of it. I smoke, but I don't like to breath it later or smell like it). Peace.

I got a scope and a 30 round steel mag for the SKS yesterday :super:

Good for you bro!! Keep up the good fight!

  3. Not to interfere with a grand bout of arguing, but does this really matter as nobody seems to just add a mag. The guns seem to set off some addictive "Pimp my gak" thought process in all the owners.

Just order up a gasfixer plug, and new tapco grip, and butt stock or whatever your going to order to "pimp the gak" anyway.

From experience, and what I have read, as soon as the new owner gets it home, they order curb feelers, pin stripe, a blue dashboard crown, and fuzzy dice for the S12.

Pimping an S12 appears to be an unstoppable force

Well, yes, It DOES MATTER!. I was talking to a co-worker, that happened to have about the same guns that I do. however, he was not advised that when he bought his S-12, that he could be breaking the law by installing a higher capacity magazine on his shotgun than what it came with as purchased. My first S-12 purchase came with a dealer supplied 10 round mag as an extra. If I wouldn't have read these forums before I purchased my first S-12, I would have had NO CLUE about the legality of it. The average man on the street has absolutely NO IDEA. Dealers of the weapons involved, are setting people up to be prosecuted. The average schmo on the street is going to walk into a gun store and buy the gun, then maybe see a mag or get one with it and have absolutely no clue what is involved. Maybe RAAC should give a link to this website included with every gun they import. Ignorance of the law is one thing, but to be blindsided by dealers is quite another.

  4. Claiming that there is no religious basis for this is ridiculous. The man was "upset" that he was going to have to ship out and "fight" against his fellow Muslims. So he threw a fit and gunned down all the American Soldiers he could.

With this guy's rank and assignment he lead a pretty privileged life in the Military, all that was fine, until he was asked to do his job!

His head should be on a pike tonight.

But you don't know that for certain either. For all we know he could have just snapped from stress and gone all "thanks for the snickers" on the base.

I know this, there are 173 shooting wars going on in the world today. 171 of them involve the "religion of peace."

Seriously, that's just sad. Maybe instead of banning guns, they should start looking into banning religion. It has killed FAR more people than anything else in this world. My god is better than you god, and if you don't believe it I will kill you. It is just pure horseshit.

  5. Cobra 76 2, I sure hope to hell you were driving your Cobra Mustang during all this! Even as shitty as you feel, it's got to give you some relief. Drive it like you stole it! Thank you for the pics, and Racegal, take care of your guy. Haven't heard anything at all from TJ except through Juggs. I hope he is weathering this shit ok. Bounce, sounds like you missed out on a good Halloween scare with your "glowing" glob on your leg. Don't mean to poke fun at any of you. Just want you to get well and be back here. Hang tough. Kudo's to all those who are helping these guys. Peace.

  6. Quitting is the easiest thing to do in the world. Staying quit is the hard part. My dad quit for7 years, then started up again. he died 9 years ago of cancer., BUT I can't rule smoking as his cause of cancer. My Grandma died when she was 86 or 97 or something and would blow you out of the house with her smoking. No cancer. I smoke, and it sucks. It it hellashilly expensive and stinks. Good luck. I've quit hundreds of times over the years. The food you used to think was good sucks! (except HOT food!) Please stay quit. I'm with you on this one bro....

  7. Valid points, like I said in big cities and in kali confiscations would probably happen.

Just because our military does disarm people overseas doesn't mean anything (agree or not) because they are not Americans citizens and don't have the same rights. Plus you guys mentioned that troops here in the US have participated in arms confiscation (Katrina?) I'd like more clarification on how/when this took place. And if Katrina is the only main time that this took place I don't think that we really have much to worry about (I'll explain):

Katrina was horrible for the people that went through it, especially gun owners. However it exposed the unconstitutional actions of the govt. Since these actions are out in the open I think it will be difficult for something like that to be repeated now that the country, the LEO community, and the military is aware of what happened and that it was blatantly unconstitutional.

FYI this is my 7th year of service and this year is the first year that I've had mandatory training on the constitution and govt. And this training specifically focused on the limited power of the federal govt, and the separation of powers.

Also I think there is another element that is being overlooked, we are talking about a sustained long term SHTF scenario, not short term civil unrest. Also I think that it is allot more likely to have LE and Military going after arms in a short term (riots, martial law etc..) SHTF scenario than a sustained long term situation. In a short term situation it's easier to justify violating rights in a temporary fashion to control the situation.

But in a long term SHTF scenario you will be in a community just trying to make it. Local LE (in my opinion) would be able to handle basic security and safety of the community. But without a strong federal govt in place to combat organized regional crime, local areas could be easily overwhelmed by gangs etc.. This is were LEOs and armed citizens would be fighting side be side. I could see even having a rotation of armed deputized citizens to protect against outside threats to the community. Which goes back the original point I was trying to make, having a common weapon caliber with local LE and military is advantageous.

First you state that it's your 7th year of service. You don't state what service that is. Then you go on a delusional string of how you have had mandatory training on the constitution and government. AND then you have the GALL, to state that "it's easier to justify VIOLATING RIGHTS in a temporary fashion to control the situation". Just whose side are you on motherfucker? Don't you realize that the people that you most passionately want to disarm are the SAME people that will be on your side if Shit Hits The Fan? You can deputize us, brief us on what needs to be done, and COUNT on us to keep the bad guys at bay. We probably practice shooting our weapons as much as you do yours, and are just as proficient. Why do you automatically think that we are the bad guys? We can be your best friend in time o0f need, in a small town we are the people that you see everyday on the street. I just don't get the mentality of the police at times. We share the same common goals as you to get rid of the bad guys, yet are treated as criminals until proven innocent. If every home owner in LA (affluent RICH, mansion owners) shot the National Guard as they were trying to take their weapons away, maybe it would have made an impact. After watching the vids on YouTube, I will have no problem doing that myself. It was utter pure bullshit. Stand for something, or fall for anything. Common calibers don't amount for much when the gov. takes your weapons of self protection away. Maybe you need to go study some more. Maybe look up Nazi history.

  8. I'll opt for an AK or a converted Saiga.

One thing i've thought would be a kick ass SHTF set up would be a Glock 20 or 21 because 10mm is a bitch to find coupled with one of those mech tek CCU carbines. The 10mm is a very potent round and through a rifle barrel it has the goods for a hunting, defense round. I think the 45 won't quite have the gas to reach out there but thats still a formidable setup. Mag interchangablity, small package, ease of maitainance, and reliable.

Thanks for the heads up! I hadn't seen this before.

  9. COOL! Good thinking on the ammo conservation as well, I always end up spending more time reloading my drums as I do shooting them! lol. One thing about the Russian 5 rounders, they will never let you down. They are pretty much flawless. Same with the drums from MD. Nice job!

  10. Hi again, one more question about the rear stock sites. Are the Glock sites compatable? Do they drift right in? I haven't seen this addressed anywhere before, just had heard that Glock sights were the way to go. I have a source for "Williamms" brand Glock sights that are made of aircraft aluminum and have a fiber optic light gathering insert. This sounds like exactly what I want, if it will drift right into the stock rear S-12 mount. The front will be an HK mount with a tritium insert. I'm not concerned so much with 100% accuracy, as this is a shottie, but want fast target sighting. The only reason I sak is that I also see some people mentioning the 1911 sites. I want to be able to slide the sites in myself. Thanks ahead of time.

  11. Chile's Chipolte Chile

    ...................................

8 cans: Herdez Chipolte chiles in Adobo sauce.

    *4 cans: Rotel HOT, optional

    *1lb Pinto beans, cooked, optional

    2 cups: Brown Sugar

*1 large Hershey Special Dark chocolate bar, optional

    2 large Onions quartered

    4 large Garlic cloves

    8-10lbs skirt/flank steak

Salt, Cumin and whatever other spices float your boat.

In a blender, combine chiplotes/adobo sauce & *Rotel, blend till smooth.

In large stock pot, add 1/2cup oil and roast onions/garlic, remove, chop & return to pot.

Add chipolte/rotel to stock pot, heat on low-med.

    Add brown sugar & *chocolate.

Grill steaks rare/med rare, char over heavy flame for great grill flavor, cool and cut into large bite sized chunks, add to pot.

    *Add beans.

    Season to taste.

Simmer 1/2hr, over low/med heat, careful not to scorch, stir frequently.

Serve topped with crumbled Queso Anejo and fresh tortilla chips.

Ice cold Horchata or Cerveza to wash it down.

The more I look at your recipe, I think I'm going to have to try it. The only real problem I might have is finding the Herdez Chipolte Chiles in Adobo sauce. But there is a large Mexican population in a couple of towns away, and I'm sure they would have it or something very similar on the store shelves. Either that, or I have a buddy down in Houston that could find it and ship it up to me. This is "Meat & Mashed Potatoes" country. lol. It DOES sound very tasty. (I lived in Houston for 12 years, and when I moved back here was VERY dismayed to see the only Brisket being sold was corned beef brisket, on the other hand, I did have to have a few local items shipped to me down there once in awhile). Is it OK to wash it down with Corona? lol.

  12. I never really wrote out a recipe, but a few years ago I bought a cast iron cooker at Cabela's that is big enough to cover two burners on a stove top. I can cook about 2 to 2 1/2 gallons of chile at once in it. I use lots of tomato's, lots of ground beef, a few onions. I also use green bell peppers. I use a whole lot of crushed red peppers. A few cans of "Teaxs Style" kidney beans with Jalapeno's, a few cans of plain kidney beans, a few cans of Rotella HOT. Let it simmer ALL day, and when you finally dish it up, put lots of chunks of cheddar cheese on it. Make sure it is very thick and chunky before serving. I could eat this all day long every winter day that we have!

  13. I went to my Nephew's high school football game tonight. It rained the entire time, and it was just above freezing. This was districts, to choose who gets to go to State. At halftime, it was 6 - 0 our lead. Just standing there before the game started and watching the Color Guard raise the flag, and hearing the band play, was almost enough to bring a tear to your eye. The game was a mighty, muddy, cold slugfest. We won 24 - 0. I'm just starting to get feeling back in my fingers! lol. Anybody that says only Texas is rabid about their high school football, needs to attend a few Nebraska games! We (Gothenburg High School) have been to the State playoffs for the last 8 years now. 2 minutes before the game ended, it quit raining, but soon after that the snow began! lol. There is absolutely nothing like the experience of sitting in the stands with a good group of parents watching a high school football game, in the crappiest weather you can imagine! I've sat through 3 nephews games now. All 3 of them are Eagle Scouts, and I am very proud of them. Stuff like this is what it makes to make it all worth while. Sometimes, a small town (3400 pop.) has it all over what a big town can deliver. Just thought I'd share.

  14. Yikes! I never priced the red dots, just fantasised. $365 or more? I'll stick with my $15 dollar HK that I will need to cut down and weld and the $50 tritium night sights and Glock rear sights. Until I actually feel and shoot any other. Not likely here in the breadbasket (armmpit?) of the nation. Wolverines! lol. I'm not just a cheapskate, I'm the president of cheapskate sights. As long as they are durable and work. I'm the only one I know with 2 s-12's and 2 drums.

  15. It's great having a Saiga 12 this time of year as I have a friend in East TX who grows pumpkins. Whatever he can't sell he donates to us for targets. When not protecting the world from zombie melons, I like to get naked, cover myself with Hoppes Number 9, and spoon with my 12 while listening to Barry White.

You are a very, very sick man. But I can relate. LMAO!

  16. Coyote shooting around here isn't for sport at all. They're intelligent animals, that's for sure. They also like to eat pets and young livestock. Here in Alabama there's no closed season and no bag limit, because there are more than plenty of coyotes.

I'd rather shoot a coyote than let a coyote eat a domestic dog, and I don't travel way out into the desert or anything to shoot coyotes. It's up close and personal where the yotes are an immediate threat. Hence, shotgun.

    Ditto.

When you have several dogs worth several thousand dollars a piece that the local Coyote population wants to eat, or just a pet dog that you like,

    Coyotes are not so wonderful.

They are bold around here, and will come up to your front door, and kill your animals, and livestock.

I am all about live, and let live, until my property is effected, then I am going to be the only predator around.

It makes a simple camp out dangerous for your pets

We have a lot of coyotes around here, but i guess I'm lucky to only have to deal with skunks. lot's of skunks, I hate those bastages. If coyotes got to be a problem, they would be treated the same. I have a 20 yr old + doggie, that if a cougar (bobobcat whatever is being sighted around here) or coyote attacked, or any of my other dogs, I would wage coyote war like the coyotes have never seen. I would be legend among the coyotes.
