Helped a dude SKATEBOARDING down the Interstate 4 or 5 years ago the opposite direction! I did a u turn across the median. He ran out of gas. He was miles from any town. Got him a gas can and enough gas to get back and get refueled. lol. That was fun! Stuff happens. I believe in Karma. (or I would really LIKE to believe in Karma) I guess these days, with cell phones, everyone assumes that the people can call and know who to call. Life isn't always that tidy.

Info for anyone interested. The wireless pads still must be able to use your Micro usb port on your phone. They have a connection that clips in or something. My micro usb port on the phone was effed up. No go for me. But I found a cheap Li-Ion Charger that recharges the batteries and plugs into the wall. Less than $20. If I was buying a $300 Droid phone, I would get the charging mat to keep the usb port from breaking from the constant unplugging and plugging. They are cheap on ebay. Lot's of companies make them, Duracell, EverReady and a host of no names. Hope this helps others.

This actually gave me an idea, since im in a very similar circumstance. My LEO is anti gun and wont give me a permit to even buy a pistol let alone a CCW!! I was actually told my permit is being denied based on DISMISSED charges b/c it shows lack of "moral character" that i was ever charged to begin with!! WTF???
Maybe I should OC my AR and when the cops come tell them "Well officer since your dept. is denying me my constitutional right to buy a handgun, this is the only thing I can carry to defend my self!"
NC is one of the few states with the unconstitutional purchase permit system that gives local sheriffs full discretion in who gets to buy a handgun. This would be a great way of highlighting the hypocrisy of this law b/c I can buy assualt rifles but not a 6 shot revolver!! I can even own and possess a pistol, I just cant get a FUCKIN permit to buy one LEGALLY.
I think I'll call my sheriff and tell him I plan on OC'n my AR since i cant have a pistol permit. See what the asshole has to say about that!!! I would actually be afraid to do it though because this is the kind of place where you will be killed for doing that and not by an armed citizen, by the police. I say this guy is doing exactly what every gun owner should do, he is exercising his RIGHTS!! People wouldnt be worried if it were more common to see people carrying rifles. Thats what we need, not less "idiots" like him but more Patriots like him reminding people its OK to carry guns!! Certainly not more pussy gun owners who think its in "bad taste" or "not right" b/c the same ones who want to take your guns are the ones who have convinced you its not right or its in bad taste!!!
In what state do you need a permit to buy a handgun? I just want to know so i never spend any money in that state in travel/online expenses.
In Nebraska you need a permit to purchase a handgun. The handgun permit is good for three years upon approval. Open carry is legal.

As for the Deputy, I dunno. They do have to priortize calls. Maybe something else came up(maybe shift change?) or he was told by someone(the guy in the truck that didn't help either?) that "We got it.".
As for everyone else, most likely fear of litigation. If you help and a steer gets away from you, gets hit and kills the driver, are you responsible? Or, just the steer gets killed, again, are you going to be held liable?
The other reason is likely the chance of injury. Most of the "New Country" folks AINT and have NO experince with anything bigger than a cat or medium sized dog. Sadly, fear of any of the above is likely the largest factor. Even if not admitted. Add to that Movies like "The Hitcher", etc. and the subconcious fears mount.
Last year I stopped to get a small dog out of the road and I don't know if the owner was pissed at me or the dog for interupting her Soaps.
These days, I tend to stop only for animals, the very young, the very old and of course, HOT WOMEN. The last of which will likely be the death of me sometime.

Big city ways are creeping into rural areas more and more. I don't know what the cop's reason was, but maybe seeing him there made others think he was going to handle the situation. I guess not. Looks like you're the only hero of this story.
I'm no hero, and don't want to be. Just being decent is all. Not to much to ask...or is it?

I was driving home tonight after work, (40 miles or so) on a two lane blacktop, when I came upon 9 Long Horn steers running on the side of the road and in the middle of the highway. I slowed way down, and was trying to kind of keep them to one side of the road so on coming traffic wouldn't hit them, looking for the area they might have gotten out of. A car was approaching, so I flashed my lights to warn them, and it was a Sheriff. He flipped on his lights, and went on by, stopping to talk to a car behind me. I did a u turn on the highway and got out, about thirty feet away and hollered to see if anyone needed help getting the steers herded up. A pickup behind them stopped, listened a bit and then came on towards my. He had his window down, so I asked him if anyone needed help. The Sheriff got in his cruiser and sped off. The guy in the pickup said the owner was right behind him. Turned out it was a 30ish something female with two small kids. I told her I would help, so she went back to her farmhouse to saddle up a horse. Her mom showed up, and by now the steers had entered the driveway of another farmhouse a mile or two down the road. We kept the steers contained until the lady with the horse could get out to us, and the guy that lived in the farm came out to help. Got the steers all herded in safely, back in the pasture right when it was getting dark out, after an hour or so. The lady was asking me if I would help, and I kept telling her I would help, no problem, but I didn't know how to ride a horse! lol. My question is, why the heck didn't the cop and the guy in the pickup even bother to help? I know the cop heard me, but he just ignored me and sped away. That was weird. It would have been a catastrophe if a car was speeding along and hit one of the steers. I was the only one that stopped and helped. Are people that wrapped up in their own little world they can't help a woman, her mom and a couple of kids out? This ain't big city area out here. It was in between two towns of about 400 people each, 10/12 miles apart from each other in the middle of nowhere. It all turned out good, and was actually kind of cool. Surreal. It did bother me no one stopped to see if they could help.

Hey all, I've got an older LG Glimmer phone. The phone works fine, but the recharge port is screwed up, and it sometimes/rarely recharges the battery any more. I'm happy with the phone and don't want the hassle of getting a new one, with all the crappy reviews I've been reading on some new phones. Will one of these charging mats work to recharge a phone when the micro usb cable connection is worn out? I don't want a smart phone, with expense and worthless features. I just need to call out and answer incoming. Thanks for any help.

Boba, I applaud your out of the box thinking. Why would this be so much different than a Kel-Tec PLR-16? Just the ability to shoot it one handed? My PLR's almost gaurentee I have to use both hands, but you can use a sling on your shoulder and use it as a "reverse" buttstock, by pushing back against it. I haven't shot it yet with the c mag, but the PLR with a BETA C mag (100 rd) would be heavy for one hand unless you were the Arnold. But for both hands, it is controllable and a blast to shoot. I don't know anything about ballistics. It seems you would almost need a sling on the rear to tighten it up enough to shoot one handed. I may be wrong, as I normally am. The extra weight on the front will definately help recoil. I have some custom CNC aluminum grips on the front of my PLR's that tame that down to nothing. (still takes two hands to hold it steady, though) Cool concept.

It's not the local police we have to worry about, it's the BATFE storm troopers who raid people's houses in the middle of the night with MP5 pointed at sleeping people and acting like gestapo thugs. That agency has a long history of doing that and those old enough to remember the Waco raid on the Branch Davidian cult where they came in shooting automatic weapons and ended up murdering 80 people. They later showed an example of an 'illegal' weapon they claim to have found in the fire which they presented to the DemocRAT led congressional hearing. The weapon did not look like it was in any fire. The wood did not have any singe marks and the bluing was intact. A burned rifle would have charred stocks and the steel would have been rusted. The NRA used to report ATF abuses many years ago and Soldier of Fortune wrote an article about them around 1980 which I believe was titled "BATF. America's Gestapo". The NRA no longer writes about ATF abuses but JPFO made a movie showing their rigging a test where a defective FN-FAL was called a machine gun where they tried to frame the gun builder.

Army tanks shot fucking civilians! Read the reports. Watch the vids. GOVERNMENT shot civilian. No shit was found, they bulldozed it over immediatly. end of story. US forces killed babies. End of story. Read the stuff. Look it up, watch the videos. US forces killed civilians and nothing was found. If you can find them, watch the news reports of Reno. It's sad, but a lot of animals are eradicated, either thru PETA, presumably, or your local animal shelter. I really don't comprehend how puppy mills and legitimate breeders make money, compared to all the animals that are slaughtered by shelters alone. People should get smart and neuter their animals if they aren't going to breed them. Don't blame any one group, even though they may promote animal welfare. The sad truth is these animals would end up a much worse existance, or horrible death. Blame the public for not taking in strays and taking care of them. I have never paid for a dog, and never will. All of my dogs are from OOPs! mistakes or homeless. I have no intention of breeding dogs, just loving them the best I can and giving them the best care I can. It's so little to give for all the rewards you receive. Even "problem" dogs respond to love and care. When you have 100,000 dogs and only 1,000 takers, what are you to do? It's sad, but we are a throwaway society. And we don't need any smartasses saying "well, we could give them to the Chinese, yuk yuk". I do what I can, one dog at a time. (well, three or four dogs at a time) I'm not for or against PETA, but this isn't PETA's fault at all. Have you gone to your local shelter lately? Have you adopted a pet lately? Do you support your local shelter with food, blankets, toys, and money for drugs? I currently have BoJangles, Monaco, and Scoubiedeaux, all orphans, and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. Become part of the solution. Most times, an abandoned pet, even from, or especially from a shelter, once it gains your trust, will be the best friend you could ever imagine. All they want is love, and they will give it back like you can't believe. And they will repay the the friendship 100 times over.

Bought the movie at wallyworld in the dump bin. Hadn't seen it in ages and didn't remember most of it. It won 7 acadamy awards in 1970, including best picture. Back when movies were worth watching. It almost seemed Hollywood was PRO - USA when this was made. Hard to imagine, both the Hollywood slant, and all the trials and tribulations we had to go through in Hitlers reign, as now.

I took a dog (black lab)to the vet, because she wasn't eating right. Otherwise she was fine. Vet said take her home and make her comfortable, there is nothing I can do. This was on a Saturday morning. Saturday night, she started coughing up blood and mucus. she had lymphoma, cancer of the blood. Couldn't get ahold of the vet, and had to watch her big eyes pleading for help, and there was nothing I could do. Blood and mucus running from her nose and mouth. I couldn't get ahold of the vet. If he knew she was that bad, he should have just put her away. Christ, I'll never forget that shit. It happened so suddenly. She was only 5 years old. It sucks/and is scary watching someone you love die, and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.

Yeah, Suh was working for Subway Sandwich in Detroit. He was actually making and serving sandwiches. If NFL settle their contract, he might be out of a job. The Man is a class act.
