Removing a gas-block or FSB. And re-aligning/installing them is almost as difficult.
Thank goodness for Dinzag's new HG retainers.
-
With the gas regulator adjustment in the #2 position, and my question is did that damage my Saiga?
And the other question is one of the pieces in the chamber is loose, enclosed is the photo of the piece of metal that is kinda wobbly.
I highly doubt that he damaged it: it takes a ton to really hurt these puppies. That'll really just help to break it in, though I'd suggest throwing in a buffer before prolonged magnum use on gas setting #2.
And you can mess around with the extractor a lot. As long as it grabs the next round, you'll be good to go.

I have taken it apart and can't get it back together. How do I get the bolt assembly back in and the firing pin in the right place. Also I have some gun scrubber and some 7.62 solvent. I will add a picture incase I have misnamed any parts.
Haha, I remember that post...Many of us have been there before. It took me forever to get my S12 back together first time I took it apart. Soon you'll be doing reassembly with your eyes closed and both hands behind your back.

i suppose the whole 922r thing is pretty much an empty threat. though if i had to use the gun in home defense i'd probably get screwed for it.....
I'd not say it's much of an empty threat...theoretically you're committing a federal crime if you violate it = 5years in prison. It's probably hard to prove and hard to enforce, but I'd not risk it, but that's just me.
Get the followers and the floor plates and a US piston and you'll be good even with the little Saiga 10rnder.

is there any way to stay in compliance? i don't really want to mess with the gas piston....
There's ways. I believe there are 15 parts on an AK with foreign handguards? Is that right? And gotta stay at 10 or less as foreign, so...
FCG=3 parts, so that's a must. Then there's a few choices:
1) domestic piece of furniture (PG or Stock) and domestic gas piston
2) domestic magazines=3 parts
3) domestic gas piston, domestic magazine follower, domestic magazine floor plate
All my furniture is foreign, so I bought a bunch of pro-mags and will never let any foreign magazine near my gun again.
-
There were rumors a while ago about a factory in Ohio making domestically produced Drags...anything ever come of that? I can't remember where I came across it, so I'm not much help.

That's a very fine looking weapon there! You should be very pleased. Nice work.
+1
Does the stock fold? Either way, she's pretty, awesome job.
-
Nice Indy!
So pretty! That's exactly what I hope mine looks like if ever I finish it...
How did you attach the rubber butt pad?

Just wanted to post and give credit where credit is due. Too many of us are more quick to complain when things go wrong. I want to compliment AegisDei for being a straight-up businessman. My S12 mags were delivered as promised. They were packaged carefully so as prevent damage during transit. Deal with confidence with AegisDei. Thnx, Aegis!
Badman
Thank you! I must say that badman400 is an excellent buyer. Paid incredibly quickly, communicated well (always a key when not doing face to face transaction) and waited patiently while I finished my schoolweek before I shipped. Awesome transaction!
Also, Okami is a great buyer too. He paid super quickly, kept in good contact too, and also waited patiently while I finished my academic work before shipping. Thanks y'all!!!

Have y'all seen the magpul 5.56? It's a beauty too.
-
These are the times when I get frustrated with our legal system. Vigilanteism would fix things very quickly, but it costs too much to go through the proper systems to make it worth while. Grrrrrr
-
Jesus-Joseph-Mary friggen-mother Christ AegisDei! That damned mag is so long... I hope you don't have any wood in your pants when you pull that puppy up to your shoulder... or you're likely to litterally "beat yourself off" with it, every time you pull the trigger.
Or... was that the intent of the mag being so bloody-long?
----- ----- -----
Bigger is better, the more the merrier, size matters, etc.
I mainly wanted to see if it could be done, and really it's not too bad. I'll try to post a picture of a 15rnd 20ga mag vs. a 30rnd 7.62 mag. It's not any longer than a 7.62 40rnder.
Wait til I get the time to start hacking up the AGPs. A twenty rounder is within the realm of possibility, but definitely 15s.

I asked Tony to make his option model #S03 for me with the following alterations: A TROMIX folding stock versus the Ace (as depicted on his #S03), a galil charging handle, and a BHO. The 20ga will be coming with all the other options on the #S03 to include the vented Poly Choke.
Sounds like it's going to be a beauty. I'm glad someone else decided to go the route of the S20. It's like Barbie's little sister: less popular, but so hot!

Post away!
Indy that's one sexy looking S-20 you have there! Great job. I've got a set like that I'm putting on one of my S-12s.
Aegis I'm so glad you decided not to sell our baby! I love the frankenmags and still have plans to join a couple of my 8 rdrs so I can have a huge capacity / monopod...lol mag for mine too. That idea you had with the merc recoil reducer in the Car stock was awesome. Can't wait to see your 12 man!
I love her, but I'm still debating. If I get a good summer job, I'll keep her. But if I don't, I'll need money more than I'll need a S20. I just hate to think about saying goodbye: she's such such a dream to shoot. Your wood-stock one still is my favorite shotgun I've yet shot. Something about the weight and structure of the wood made it feel so steady. With the recoil reducer it almost feels "sproingy" like with an AR, but your wood stock just feels solid. But the reducer does help minimize recoil and it helps the balance of the gun a lot. It'll be on my S12 too, amongst some other goodies.

Pistol Permits? I'm assuming that is a North Carolina requirement so it could have its own conditions that the federal gov doesn't require.
Here's a good place to start when looking for state specific laws...
That's an awesome site, thanks!!!! It was exactly what I was looking for.

Think 82rnds is enough before I have to reload?
Rifle sights
HUD Optics
16.5-17" Barrel
Polychoke
Welded FSB
Rifle Sights
Vented Handguard with Rail
Flashlight
Tactical Mag-Release
Frankenmags
Bolt Hold Open
SAW PG
CAR Stock with Mercury Recoil Reducer
Buttpad
Gas Block Modifications
Bolt Carrier/Rail Modifications
FCG Modifications
Dust Cover Modifications
Feed Ramp Modifications
A most special thanks to Cobra who did/taught me the conversion, for the awesome magazine ramps, the ventilated handguard, and for all the help!
Thanks to Dinzag for teaching me to do the Frankenmags!
Thanks to Jeric for the mag-release!
Thanks to the forum for all the ideas!

"Here Ye, Here Ye..." Why the bloody-hell is it so quiet here, within the Saiga-20 forums??? Like... I find myself sitting at home almost every day cruising through the new forum postings, counting down the days (okay, so THAT'S a bloody lie, it will be more like months!) until I get my TROMIX Saiga-20 from Tony "the-stud-man" Rumore... which of course the wait is excruciating torture beyond this plain of existence's comprehension.... but no one (apparently no Saiga-20 owners) have anything to say or report about concerning Saiga-20s!!!!!
Okay... I'm sorry for whinning... (yea, I know I should be shot).... I'll go crawl back under my rock now, and wait for Spring.
What goodies are you getting on your S20?
Most steer away from them b/c it's a bit more finicky than an S12, but I LOVE mine. It's lighter, smaller, kicks less, higher capacity, and is more unique than the S12s. But the s12 has more availble magazines, packs more of a punch, and are more available. I can't wait to finish my S12 build that is my S20s twin. Then I can walk around like Rambo with a 20 in one hand and a 12 in the other.

OK so I did my first Saiga conversion last weekend, a 410. If people want gun porn then I will use this excuse to show off mine (again!)
This is of course just phase 1, I have some other ideas in mind and once completed I will again use any flimsy excuse to post.
Gun control means using two hands!
That is hot!!! I love the wood stock with integrated PG. Once my parts from Kvar get here I'll have my 7.62 set up like that! Nice job man!!!

I seem to remember there being mental health requirements for the purchase of guns, but are there any requirements for continued possession? I got my pistol permits 4 years ago and can't remember, and everytime I buy a long-gun I just glance over all the questions on the ATF form and write "no" beacuse none apply to me.
Does anybody actually know/remember the requirements for purchase (pistol permit or long-gun ATF form)? Are there any requirements for possession?
If Hilary gets into office I know a lot of gun owners who will become horribly depressed and seek therapy...will they be able to keep their guns?

What are your opinions on putting a PG-only on a 12ga shotty? In my situation, space is a big concern, I'll save every inch from OAL that I can.
Just wondering what kind of severe pain I should be expecting in my wrist...
I've shot my old S12 one handed with magnum loads and was fine. You won't get the fastest follow-up shot, but the gas system is so good that with magnum loads you can limp wrist to absorb the recoil. If you're shooting with two, it's cake and allows for very fast magazine changes because you don't have to unshoulder/reshoulder your gun.
I keep a Mossy 500 on hand all the time, and usually I let my Sig P226 out whenever I'm home. You're definitely right about space concerns, the Mossy has a 20" barrel and full-size stock, so it's super long. That's why I keep the Sig out...I'm not sure how long it would take me to stand up then lift, swing, and shoulder the shotgun The pistol I know I can grab and point as quick as it takes me to sit up and it's easier to find with night sights. But I'm always worried about someone breaking in while I'm away, and I don't always remember to put up my toys, so I don't want to risk losing anything worth more than a few hundred bucks (Mossy=$225). So if the Mossy disappears, I'll be pissed but I'm not out as much if I lost any of my others.
I'd recommend a cheapy (but reliable) shotgun for if you have time to get to it, and a cheapy (but reliable) pistol for if you don't. Pawnshops often have hunting Rem870s and Moss500s for <$150. They're not high cap and the barrel would need to be hacked down, but it's a good way to spray. Combine that with a Hi-point and you'd have a strong combination IMO. If stolen, you're only out about $300, way less than a single S12, but you have enough firepower to defend against near any home invasion.

I'll take the wood stock. Will you take money orders?
BR3 grabbed it up, sorry rebel. I think he's going to put his skills to work on it, so it will be 100x better once he's through with it and you probably can convince him to sell it for a great price.
Thanks all!!!

Now I am going to have to buy more Saigas, just so I can buy your stuff to convert them!!!
As if 9 isn't enough... now I will have to have more!
You have nine saigas?!?!?
I thought Cobra was the only one that was approaching that many...

Hi there,
I'm converting an AK74 airsoft rifle to a Saiga 12. Because i fell in love with it Does anybody have some spare/take off parts? I already got a forearm, sadly without the sling swivel. So if u got something, plz pm me. Trying to make my baby as correct as possible.

Stocks and more. I pobably have a sling swivel too, I'll take a peak in my tool kit. What size handguard are you working with?
Mass confusion on conversion parts
in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Posted
I'm no master at this either, but if it's just a parts count question then does that mean I could stick the new AGP 10rnders in a S12 before converting? Could I stick a 30rnd USA magazine in a 7.62 without converting? Could I add a US made PG to a sporter gun just b/c it wouldn't increase the parts count?
I think the answer is "no" to all of those questions. AWB or not, I thought if you changed the configuration of the gun as it was imported, it becomes non-compliant. Can we get some further clarification please?
