my first ak was a lancaster.. nice gun.. I'd recommend it.. Made with a nodak spud reciever and romy g parts kits.. really really nice guns.. plus lifetime warranties are fun, if redundant on an AK..

I try to buy american, but I'm not really willing to go out on a limb and waste all my money in a competitive enviorment and be paralyzed by ethics- I only buy american if the price is comparable (and I buy american cars only)... My feeling is that until our goverment figures crap out and work with import taxes and also making our production more affordable (some unions might not appreciate it), our goverment is the one hurting our product, and it's not my responsibility to waste my time and money correcting a mistake people can't be bothered to vote to fix..
But no, I won't settle for a more expensive product when a chinese one is half the price just based on my ethics.. We all have to get by here and I don't have excess money to blow on my principals, nor will I support our industry is our goverment is bending it over and screwing it at every turn- it's a lost cause that I won't suffer for. I hope to god we become competitive again, but I'm not going to invest all my money in it.
Until our goverment figures out that if we have nothing to export, we fall out of the international trading loop and into nothing with money no one wants, I think we are pretty much screwed.. I'll vote, but I won't risk all my money on our goverment making a good decision- that's a bet I'm likely to lose, I don't think nothing will happen to help american production until we effectively go down the tubes.. We have way too many laws for liscences, certifications, human resources for us to be competitive.. You can't do anything in this country without getting certified, liscenced, regulated, checked over and over again, taxed into oblivion, unionized it's not a system that will work when we are competing against countries that are far more laid back.. and btw unions are anti capitalist, they use the goverment to garner more support then they should have if it was truly a competitive union vs union or worker vs worker enviorment

I pulled my gas tube off last night for the first time (pretty easy and I was hammered) and am going to redrill it and hope that works, unfortunately the commies didnt leave me enough room for a 4rth hole the way they spread out my three.. so just gonna widen them all a tiny bit, I must be just on the threshold since it's about a 1/10 FTE for me. And WS, just wanted to say thanks for pointing out you hhadn't heard of an overgassed s12.. you make a good point that got me thinking, and I havn't either, so I'm not too worried. Still gonna be careful with her though

lancaster uses nodak spud recievers, some of the highest quality american made ones there are to be had (so yeah a copyright would suck).. and then theres the romy g parts kit as well, but my point being they would not benefit from people coming down on liscensing since that would probably take out their reciever manufacturer.

I think that your AR buddies like the .22LR conversions for ARs because .22LR is so damn cheap to shoot, not because they think it's a more effective cartridge.
you'd think that.. but they literally prefer it due to the lack of sound and recoil.. maybe my AR friends are just failures.. They sit at the table next to me plinking.. and I comment on their rounds, and they tell me "but it's so quiet and I have no recoil!". Fuck that, if it comes to it, your not going to be alive to hear me shoot you and my recoil is manageable. Anyway, I sort of highjacked the topic, my point was to vent the frustration of people jumping on wimpier and wimpier rounds in the nameof reducing recoil and noise and forgetting the fact that a gun is meant to stop or kill.. which normally is easier with a bigger, louder round.. and if the 7.62 gives you issues with recoil you shouldn't be fighting.

my thoughts exactly.. mainly because Lancaster builds a masterful example of an AK47.. But this could mean opening the doors for more import of SAIGA brand.. and hell, maybe even some legislation changes on imports/922R.. One can only hope..
I have to wonder IF they do get screwed what this does to their life time warranties..

meh.. If theres one thing I've learned, just because the army of whatever country doesn't use a gun, that doesn't make it obsolete or a piece of history, it may still be better then what is currently used.. Ak-47s will still be deadly for their accuracy (read on) and efficiency and still a weapon that is far from obsolete until the day ammo as we know it is replaced.... Yes, when your gun shoots lasers you may have me at a disadvantage, till then.. whatever
as far as inovation goes.. the only real improvments we manage to make are guns with less recoil, faster feeding, more reliable and more accuracy.. my AK already feeds as fast as I can deal with, has low enough recoil that it isn't an issue, is reliable as anything, has stopping power, and is more accurate then my eyes.. Hard to imagine it being obsolete in the near future, which I reckon is why it's lasted 60 years, it's fitted all the relevant categories sufficiently...
So yeah, build me a gun thats more accurate, feeds faster, and has less recoil, and unless the price is sufficiently lower I'll probably look at you and say.. so what? like the m14.. wow, it's accurate.. and it doesn't have much recoil.. so what? Normaly ends with me picking up the casings and dropping them into an empty casing from my AK and saying "this is what I think of your dumb ass round") Point is, we get obsessed with one characteristic (in this case, recoil) and "improve and innovate" without really figuring if we are gaining anything worth while for the sacrifices we make.
Anyway to get off the overprotective and clearly biased rant of my favorite gun/platform, I'm looking forward to seeing what they unveil! Which is sad.. because America should be the one with new weapons developements, not Russia, but all we seem to do nowdays is cut budgeting to advanced weapons programs.. Oh well.
And by the way, when the hell are we going to make guns with more stopping power.. We havn't figured out that the .223 might be just a tad bit too small? a 6x49 would be interesting, but why not go .308

I've got to be honest.. you'd think it was hard, but it was ridiculously easy.. Just make sure you have strong drill bits, I couldn't get any at wally world and that was the biggest mistake.
So easy though, you drill a couple of holes, take the old crap out, new crap in.. (really easy, though I didn't bother with BHO).. and your done! I really thought it would be more complicated.. and looking at the FCG scared me a bit, but it all went in really easily

not gonna repost my rant because frankly, it was really long.. but I'll try to sum up (easier to do sober) since at least bigsal read it so I figured I'd throw it out there so you know where I'm coming from.. I was in a crap situation in the middle of nowhere my dog, got pulled, lied to, had the cop threaten to pull his gun on me instead of his radar detector when I asked to see it, and then got lectured for 15 minutes about how I was a criminal with no rights. Also claimed that he clocked me going 17 over (unlikely, heavy traffic, but they pulled us all) and said that I must have mashed the breaks and I must of been going at least 90-100+ or 40 over. Said if I asked one more question I was going to spend the night in jail because once you've gone 20 mph over you have no rights (uhh?).. This guy was a bastard, and I was worried if I took him up on his gracious offer to spend the night in a jail, they would do some crap like say my dog bit them, and put him down. Couldn't make the court day because the bastard saw my parking pass and arranged it right in the middle of exam week.. That covers most of it..
Another time a cop just made up my speed (I pulled out going left on to a 45 mph, and followed a cop I pulled behind for 1/8th mile before getting off on my turn) another cop followed me home and said I was speeding (63 mph, but since he was oh so nice he made it only 55.. getting sick of that excuse).. not really possible to get up to that speed in the 1/8th mile and the car I was driving without making a pretty serious attempt.. keep in mind that 1/8th mile also includes slowing down at my fricken turn.. Cop said I could not have been following the officer I was following when I mentioned it because he was too far away..
Anyway, at least this one was polite.. didn't threaten me or anything..
My experience is there are a lot of bullies.. I've also been hit by a drunk driver and been greatfull for the assistance I was given. They even let the drunk guy off because he was dyng of cancer and it was likely that his drunkness was partly brought on by pain meds, as well as the cup of vodka the crash had splattered on his windshield. Sometimes they are on your side, but as Azrial said, if it was a revenue agency it would be running in the black.. and I'll add to that by saying, and if they didn't act like a revenue agency, they would bankrupt us.
Sure they have other purposes, but they are a rather large and costly organization that survives partially by handing out fines regardless of whether the fines are neccesary or really relevant... And how many do we REALLY need, and how neccesary is it that they drive new crown vics or chargers? One thing I've noticed in other countries- generally less cops driving crappier cars.. I reckon it works
IF you believe that cops are acting soley on morals, you havn't considered why so many police like to hide RIGHT at speed limit changes.. Just because the sign is there and it took someone an extra 50-100 feet to get down to speed doesn't mean the stuation has suddenly become unsafe and we are in dire need of a policeman to save the day.. but it's a great place to levy some fines.
There are exceptions, and my family and I have been greatful for police assistance several times, but on those occasions they were helpfull because they did not use the excessive power they have been given.. They just showed up to make sure everything was ok, or as I've seen showed up to help someone with a broken down car, or bring a can of gas, stuff anyone could do without a huge amount of power.. I have tons of respect for those guys.
But I don't respect the bastard who calls me guilty without any proof over speeding and threatens me and I have no way to defend myself. First.. it's speeding.. Nobody takes it seriously, and neither do the cops. If it was really dangerous there would be zero tolerance and a LOT much more enforcement, but speed limits tend to be arbitrary rather then scientific.. and everyone knows it, but it's an easy way to "guilty unless proven inoccent" your way into some extra revenue.
Too many people are just not responsible enough for the power they are given, and with police it's far more evident, because conflict with them is conflict with the law, so you feel far more wronged if one of them fucks up as opposed to say.. a cashier at a grocery store. Cops about the one person who screws up and your faced with a 200 dollar fine and jail time.. kind of sucks
(btw my last rant was longer.. and was only about the one situation.. yeah, good thing its gone)

can't bring myself to put optics on a shotty... Just seems kind of wimpy.. Shotguns are about badass hail of lead going downrange without much concern for accuracy.. Optics are for precise fire.. Combine the two and your just regulating how much inaccurate lead is going down range by sitting and tryng to aim it instead of blasting away. It seems about as neccesary as putting an advanced guiding system on a 10 megaton bomb to make sure it hits a car..
for slugs it's a different deal, but I don't use my shotty with slugs enough, I use it mostly for clays. (a quick release side mount with an optic (probably a halo of some type) would possibly be a worthwhile investment if you shoot lots of slugs)
With shot.. I don't need optics to hit anything in it's effective range.
I'd say go for it if you really like how it looks.. but IMO it's like putting a gigantic wing on a ford focus, people are going to look at you funny since you just wasted money on an improvement which really is of minimal benefit for the sake of looks... But if it makes you happy I guess that's what matters.
You outa just get a rifle to play with optics for.

same story here.. exactly.. badly rusted spring shattered after a couple of uses into about 8 pieces.. replaced it with a surefire spring.. won't buy AGP again.
(spring was less than a month old straight out of the plastic it came in)

those are all fantastic (although I'm not familiar with that mossy, looks very nice, but I prefer semi auto)
I chose the spetsnaz since brand new, nice gun, threaded muzzle.. I shied away from the 12c simply because you didn't have a price on it which makes it hard to compare..
Both would be considered awesome here as they are impossible to get ahold of.. not sure how the UK works but the waiting list makes me think it's not much better. Great opportunity to get a really nice gun

don't know what exact model, but it just looks like your standard tube magazine shotgun altered with a detacheable magazine, seen it done to remingtons and the like... I might be wrong but no one had commented so I figured I'd at least say what I thought.
edit: yarp beat me with a better answer.. and summed up what I was thinking in the process.. I thought it looked like a remi with a box mag
