  1. My "newborn" .223 Saiga "as-received" with built-in AR magazine well and LRBHO by Definitive Arms, Tapco stock and PG and "bird cage".

Not pictured: Leatherwood CMR 1-4x red dot is idling, awaiting MI 30mm AK scope.

Planning to put extended Fuglystick vented handguard (3G-style), Hogue PG and likely ACE Skeleton stock.

Darn you, I'm green with envy!!! I sold my Saiga .223 about 2-3 years ago.. Had I known something like this was going to be out I would have held onto her!

  2. My S.308

It isnt done yet, switching to a TWS rail and thinking about getting the top rail to CSS tri rail to mount a front sight because I'm thinking about doing away with the front sight and just threading the bbl and not having to worry about repinning..also in the works, playing with the idea of welding a front HK sight on the gas tube.. but I'm not too set on that idea.

  3. I actually had feed issues and spring binding/follower tilt with two if mine.. Bad show. My promag, csspecs and surefires work without issue. Promag mags seem to use a sturdier polymer and have slightly thicker feed lips. I want to try a high heat and extreme cold test soon with all.

  4. The Moe stock? not too much I think $60 from CSS?

I had to dremel a little "U" shape to fit the gen 1 TWS rail rear tang portion with the MOE stock.

Only reason I'm sticking with the Gen 1 TWS rail on this set up is they are getting hard to come by seeings how the new GEN 2 TWS rail is out (My Gen 2 is mounted on my Draco SBR)

The Gen 1 rail might be kind of like a collectors item in 5-10 years.. provided we can still own firearms by then. haha.

  5. I've got some semi quick visual reviews for both the 10 & 25 round mags.

With some of the 25 round mags I ran into feed issues when loaded to the full capacity. They work optimally at 20 rounds. I wish promag would come out with a 15 or 20 rounder with a tad shorter length.

10 rounders functioned flawlessly.., only issue, they cost more than the 25 rounders!

  6. VR6Shooter, awesome job! With my first saiga .308 I welded the bho shut and sort of regretted it. On my next S.308 build I think I'll go for much of what you did with the angle of the bho in relation to the trigger. Kudos brother!

    Happy shooting.

  8. My little Draco SBR with BAKELITE furniture, A TWS 2nd gen Dog Leg Rail, And a Krebs Enhanced Safety lever.

I'm not a fan of the pistol grip plastic isn't very forgiving to the hand. (I also have big hands)

I'm thinking the US PALM Bakelite Orange Pistol Grip?

Also on the way is a rear flip sight and a CNCWorrior 4 piece Flash Hider.

    ..If they shipped it?

  9. My newly 3/4 finished Saiga .308 (My other woman)

All she needs now is a muzzle brake. Haven't had the time or narrowed down the right brake.

Also, the method of attachment for the Carolina Shooters Supply Tri-Rail as well as a Uinta 20 round magazine.

The rear portion is a Magpul UBR stock as well as an ACE internal adapter and AR stock adapter.

Happy with ALL products as well as companies that supplied the products used.

  10. I received my Uinta Mags just yesterday 5/18/11.

    They feed/function fantastically.

I really like the look and feel however, and this is just probably because my eyesight is poor.. but the feed lips on the Uinta mags look slightly thinner than that of the SureFire mags.

Still give them a 5/5. GREAT customer service, shipping time and to boot.. an excellent product!

My photos to come on 5/22/11 of my 3/4 finished Saiga .308 with Uinta mag

  11. Trust me, CSS got this rail RIGHT! I ordered mine the minute after logging onto S-12forum.

It came and I've mounted it, the only reason I don't have pics with my testimonial is I'm waiting on my UBR stock which I'm also slapping on her... I've also got some Unita Mags coming. SO stoked! I'll make her look pretty before I post pics.

But back to the rail. Yes it doesn't use the gas block pin as a means of mounting, it used an even better mount that wraps around the barrel behind the gas block, then through the rail screws into the forearm as well as that rear screw towards the trunnion.

(which for you who may not know, is threaded to that of your original forearms rear screw, no new parts needed.)

BUY ONE, BUY ONE NOW! :D

    Pictures to come!

  12. I finally have what I consider to be a picture post worthy Saiga 7.62x39

I'm still considering slapping on the TWS 2nd gen rail to extend the sight radius.. but that may be overkill.

Why mess with a good thing, right? Eh'Who knows.. Maybe when I've got some extra cash.

    Whats she's got on her:

    24x1.5mm Front sight base

    K-var 7.62x39 24mm muzzle brake

CAA gen 2 aluminum tube stock (has the storage compartment)

    Magpul MOE stock

DPH forearm, by far beats my other AKM rails I have out of the water, extended length, solid mounting, cheaper than the Ultimak rails @ only $139.95, and I can still access my gas tube if need be (Unlike the Midwest industries rail!)

Regular AK grip, haven't found the right PG yet, I have Ergos on all my other rifles, but I'm still looking for something new and exotic for this one.

  13. Hello to all, sorry i didn't get the "POSTED THREAD" updates in my email! So I haven't seen the responses. But hey ASTROWRENCH: I'd really be interested in taking a look at the Carrying handle you all have set up.

Does it work with the regular AKM setup with wood forearm and gas tube cover?

I attempted a mini fabrication a few weeks ago with just some scrap metal, but I didn't take into account the area of mounting if I indeed did weld the carry handle nut or loop to the front trunnion, the gas tube locking lever wouldn't be able to come up, it got in the way!

So now I'm looking at maybe a GALIL carry handle fabrication and I'll just have to press some sheet metal around the back of the lower forearm, ultimately that would be the least invasive way.

I see "Vulcan ARMS" or "Black Thorn" has the Galil style carry handle and the back part of the lower hand guard I was talking about that allows you to mount without any modification.. but alas, its "Vulcan Arms".. and I hear a lot of shady stuff about them.. so who knows what'll happen, I might just take a chance and order one?

  14. I'm trying to find a less invasive way of installing a(n) FN FAL or Galil style carry handle to my Saiga .308 project.

I'm shooting for a Galil style look. I've got the ACE skeleton stock and internal stock adapter. I just recently received my lengthended gas tube back from DINZAG arms.

(Which by the way, is a GREAT company. GREAT customer Service!)

And I just stained my forearm the dark cherry I wanted..

If I could I'd like to find a RPK style carry handle but I don't want to have to purchase a whole parts kit for one part!

So my next step would be finding a surplus FN FAL or Galil Carry handle and fabricating something much like that of the RPK or Galils carry handle and incorporate it into the lower forearm.

I guess I could just weld an attachment up on the trunnion.. but as I mentioned before I'd like to find a less invasive way of mounting the carry handle.

If anyone has got any ideas or if you've done this yourself, PLEASE HELP!

    Thank you, ZA_Survivalist.

  15. From what I saw in my conversions, I had to modify they Safety lever. I hear you can use a bulgarian safety lever (From K-Var) and I guess that has a little longer catch.

I know that Carolina Shooters Supply sells some of the already modified FCGs. Ones that you wont have to grind down. (Unless you want to fit the BHO). All in all, I'm a big fan of Dinzag. Have you tried emaiing RSA?

  16. It aint much yet, but I just received a feed ramp from DinzagArms.com (I was very impressed with shipping time and quality)

As soon as my Bulgarian Mags come in it'll be looking mean.

    Cheap Osprey Red dot sight

    UTG Cheap side rail mount

UTG quad rail, modified with clay epoxy.

K-Var pistol grip and butt-stock set.

    G2 FCG

    Tapco gas piston

    Dinzag feed ramp

  17. I purchased the bullet guide from Carolina Shooters Supply. No directions came with the drill and tap set, but I used the PDF file off Dinzags site and got a good idea of how its done. Took less than 20 minutes. (I went real slow when I was grinding down the magazine latch. I got about 5 different AK magazine make and models to ensure a good fit on each.

No pics yet. But the result was great. I'm doing the same to my S.223.
