Very nice wood.
I agree with the OP. I simply don't see the point in converting a Saiga in California. The better trigger is not worth needing a tool to remove magazines.
But we, the people of Republic of Kalifornia, love to have an AK so the lock magazine is not that much of a pain to remove with just a screw driver or an allen wrench.

where you finding the golden tiger? that stuff is great...
SGAmmo.com have some golden tiger back in stock for $199/case. Bought a case this morning!

If you want to play, you got to obey the 922r law.
"Bad boys, bad boys whatcha want
Whatcha gonna do when the ATF
come for you tell me whatcha gonna do."

You can get this wood stock at Saigastock.

Tapco brakes, for example, are worthless.. except as fishing weights.
I just wasted $18 on a fishing sinker? Ouch!! Wish I had done more research...
Which one do you recommend that doesn't cost more than $50? Thanks... I like the one from K-var but cost almost $80.

Mine was born on Mar 09 with threaded barrel and no step. I used a hacksaw to make a groove around the barrel and then finish up with the dremel tool.

ignotus137,
Just a head up for you if you're from Southern California, most of the range here doesn't allow steel core ammo unless you shoot in the desert or private land. If that is the case, you will have to with either Fiocchi or Yugo ammo. Right now, SGAmmo have 1000 rounds of Golden Tiger for $199.
I think you can at south bay rod and gun club I saw some guy on YouTube shooting silver bear
Have you ordered from sgammo before the reason I ask is cause my MacAfee said this Adware, spyware, or viruses (1)
Yes, I have ordered ammo from them in the past with no problem whatsoever. Shipping to Cali is very reasonable too (around $20/case). There is a thread on Calguns forum with lot of satisfied customers from this vendor and Golden Tiger.

I'll take all except the mag.

Very nice!!!

My scope finally is here after 5 long weeks of waiting.

Trust me Sir! I won't be toting that thing around. The law here in Kalifornia is so complicated that in addition to 922r compliance,I think you also need to add a magazine lock with any hi cap mag. I'll save it for the zombies or when SHTF.

Schneiderman,
I followed your instruction by comparing between the original Saiga mag & the Tapco mag and did some filing on the magazine catch and it works like a charm now. Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I got all the parts including the bullet guide on order. A friend who is a machinist will help with the conversion and the gun will comply the 922r compliance. Further, I'll be using the stock 10 rounds mag when I'm out on the range to practice and the 30 rds mags only when SHTH.
Is there any detail instruction on how to file the mag catch? I hate to ruin my Saiga.
When I had my Saiga 5.45x39 (sold it last month), the Bulgarian 30 rounds mag fitted perfectly without any mods or bullet guide installation. Is there such mag existed for Saiga 7.62?
Thanks

My Saiga is currently unmodified but I'm planning to do the conversion soon. I thought all AK mags will work with Saiga with a little filing.

I have a Tapco 30 rounds mag but I can't get it to snap into the Saiga. Do I need to do any mods to the mag?
I did a search but couldn't find any topic regarding this incompatibility and really appreciate if someone can help me out.
Thanks

Can you provide more info or link on the maglock?
Thanks

I'll send out the money order tomorrow.
Thanks

Thanks!! Another week of waiting then.

I received an email from Eastwave today with a tracking number. According to them, the scope was shipped on February 11 by registered mail. I checked online with USPS.com but no record was found.
How do you track a registered mail from Eastern Europe?
Thanks.

Wish I had ordered with Kalinka instead of East Wave Products Inc. I submitted an order and made the payment for a POSP 4x24 on Feb 4th and still haven't received it yet.
