  1. I bought my saiga 12 earlier in the year. I shot buckshot and walmart lowbrass sucessfully on setting 2. The second time I shot sugs without thinking on setting 2 (probably like 45 rounds) then tried lowbrass again and it failed to eject. I thought nothing of it and put the gun away stressed out. Ive been doing some research and decided to pill the gas plug out and check my gas ports. I have 3 ports and there was lead smeared all over the place. The gas puck was all buggered up. I had to remove all of the debris just to remove the puck. I smoothed it all out and removed lead from everything.

I accidentally did it again the other day and just wondering if I put it on setting 1 for slugs if it should cure this ??

I wont be able to get to the range for a few days, Im in the hospital waiting for my wife to give birth to my 3rd little girl. Dont worry they will have pink and purple Saiga's :)

  2. I own a Saiga 12 and leave it by my bed for self defense. I keep the 10 round surefire magazine loaded for obvious reasos. I keep finding the shells ovaled and flattening our at the front of the shell and not feeding correctly. Theese are federal 00 buckshot and also with winchester super x 2 3/4 slugs as well. Not as badly with the slugs but still not feeding correctly. I am getting discouraged with this problem and dont think it is a very good choice to use for home defense because of this.

I still have the 5 round factory magazine and have not tried this one yet, but would prefer 10 rounds instead of 5 in the gun.

Any help or suggestions with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  3. AFAIK about drums, is that they are considered not to have the three mag parts as the 922 description was designed around stick mags, in other words, they are basically neutral, they don't count as three imported parts, but, they don't count as three us parts either because none of the described parts in 922r exist in them.

Sounds weird, but, thats how I have seen a drum interpreted

This is the FAQ section on MDArms website.....

    https://www.mdarms.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=6&zenid=mp6i35o5sgd8le2ppip1u745r1

Scroll down a few paragraphs to read the 922 compliance issue.

Essentially, drums have the same parts as stick mags, just in slightly different locations.

You could consider the back cover of the drum, the same as the floor plate on a stick mag IMO. That leaves you with the body and follower, which drums have, just like stick mags.

Thanks I just bought one, Ill let you know how I like it.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it says right on the page "Will not fit Yugo AK47, SAR1 and SAR3 and will not fit Saiga."

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and bet they mean uncoverted/as imported/neutered Saigas, which that stock wont work on.

Ill make the damn thing fit somehow. Im good at fabricating things and have lots of tools :) Ill let you know how it goes when I do my conversion.

  4. Cool thanks, Ive been looking around and definatly think theese look the best for saiga 12's

Did it fit right on or did you have to trim it a bit.

Also not trying to thread jack but prol gonna convert it NY legal

Have 10 round surefire mags so that counts as 3 parts. Going to install trigger groupe and possibly poly choke or muzzle brake

Anything else you can think that I have to do. I already converted a 7.62 now its the S12's Turn.

  5. Im kicking myself in the ass because I used to own a converted saiga with 100 rd chineese and 75 rd chineese drum and sold them all for 650. Duh, should have done a little more research. Ill prob never own a 100 rd again, I guess they are pretty rare.I recently purchased a new Saiga 7.62 and converted it. I would rather have a drum but kind of want to get some mags nowThere is some crazy shit that makes no sense going on in the world right now.

Im going to take a look at it tomorrow, Ill let you guys know what I think

  6. I have the chance to purchase a USA Magazine 55 round 7.62x39 magazine very very cheap. Hes selling me 2 30 round bulgarian 1 40 round comblock and a USA magazine 55 round magazine for $80. Any one heard anything about theese. I cant find the manufacturer or much of anything online.I live in ny and can only own preban high capacity magazines, So dose anyone know if theese are preban? Any input is welcome thanks.

  7. Sorry guys, You know what I Might just be Retarded. I havnt even shot the gun yet. I am just basing this on just slowly pulling the bolt back and slowly pushing it forward. Mabye this isnt normal practice for this gun. Mabye i just need to pull it back and let it rack its self. I am just paranoid of doing this in my house because of reading about other people doing this and having the gun fire. Prol because of the free floating firing pin. I checked and the primer after doing this and it is dimpled when I do this. Should this be a real concern or am I being over paranoid? I have been known to overanalize things.

Should i be able to slowly rack the bolt like every other rifle I own or is the Saiga different? I am going to the range tomorrow just to find out. Ill let you know what happens.

  8. I agree that the magazine was not modified correctly because you would have to alter every mag you want to use in your gun.

I dont see how removing metal on the underside of the magazine catch would change the feed angle. The catch in the front is untouched and only the underside of the rear magazine catch was altered. The top of the mag catch in the rear was untouched and thus the feed angle has been unchanged.

  9. Yeah i tried another 40 rounder clip my buddy got with his WASR. The other clip is one that i got with the gun. If i had to guess i would say its a foreign ak style metal clip. Ill try to put a pic on later.

That might be your problem. You need a magazine and not a clip. Clips don't work in AK rifles. LOL

    This is a clip

Ha Ha Ha Oops, I guess i inow the difference now LOL. Thanks Man :super:
