  1. Any one convert their .223 and have the original trigger laying around they would like to part with? Or does anyone know of a place to buy a stock trigger group I can't find anything online. If willing to sell one please email me at whauburger@yahoo.com

    Thanks

I think I have one laying around at home. I'll check tonight. If I do you can send me a self addressed and stamped envelope and I will send it to you for free.

  2. I used a mill for most of mine. But I finished it off with a dremel. When I used the dremel I just went slow and checked for heat. I used the carbide bit and it worked great for finish work. I finished it last Friday and went to the range on Monday. I shot 80 rounds as fast as I could with out a hiccup. Some of the mags are difficult to seat and remove, others just drop free. I will probably try another 100 rounds tonight.

  3. Well, this is how I fixed mine without pulling the gas block and drilling out the ports.

    1. Send you bolt to Pauly for his glass bolt special.

    2. Buy a booster piston from MD Arms.

    3. Reassemble the gun with the polished and new parts.

    4. Have fun.

My gun is a three port (I am not sure of the port sizes because I misplaced the gauges Pauly sent me). With low brass is was only a single shot. I would get a FTE or FTF with every round. With high brass is worked time. (Note I am using a Gunfixer Plug on the 3rd setting for my low brass) I followed the steps listed above and these were the results.

Yesterday I finally got a chance to run some rounds through my gun since I had the work done (only 27 but it is a start). I started off with the stock piston and Pauly's Glass Bolt and some standard low brass shells I had for the last 10 years (white box of Winchester from WALMART). The first two rounds cycled fine. The third was a stovepipe. I have never been able to get low brass to cycle at all so I was encouraged by the first two rounds. I cleared the stovepipe and the next two also were stovepipes.

I then changed over to the booster piston. With the new piston in I cycled through the rest of the mag with out a hiccup. I loaded up another mag and all 9 were flawless. I loaded up nine more and the all cycled perfect as fast as I could pull the trigger. I still need to put many more rounds through it but it looks like my problem has been fixed.

I would recommend Pauly's work and the MD Arms Booster Piston to anyone with the same problems. Thank Pauly and Mike.

  4. I wish I had tried the ones you listed. I have only tried the Tapco and I am really pleased with it in my 308 (I bought it from Dinzag converted for the 308). I find it to break crisp and light, better than the standard M16 triggers I have shot.

  5. I'm getting orders out both blems and non. Tracking numbers on the way shortly. Keep in mind these here are blemished or slight milling imperfections which is why they came about.

Understood (functionality is the name of the game. Looks are second. I realize you are quite busy and appreciate you taking the time to entertain this.

  6. It's just my luck, I ordered an adapter on Friday for $100+. Came on here today hoping to find a tracking number but instead I find this :smoke:

I feel your pain. I ordered one last Tuesday. But I do need a second, so I placed another order yesterday. Now the waiting.

  7. Just wondering if it would be possible to get one of the two adapters I ordered (I ordered a regular one last week and blemished one yesterday) sent today or tomorrow. I have plans to go visit a friend that has a milling machine this weekend (He lives 2hours away) and would like to get at least on installed if possible. I'll drop you a pm with my order numbers. Thanks

  8. Mike;

You keep that CNC turning 24/7!!

I'm including these with all my retail Vertical Charging Handle additions now to offset any possible effect of the small amount of extra weight at the carrier just in case my additions land on borderline undergassed guns & I sure don't want you to run out come time for me to restock!

    Stellar reviews thus far brother!

    Keep this shit coming!

I gotta wonder though... If a Booster combined with the massive friction reduction of the level I've brought GlassBolt to can overcome even the severely under-gassed guns, ie, 3 tiny ports smaller than .07 or guns with partially obstructed ports without port work?

Unfortunately, I don't have any vodka specials to test the theory on at the moment.

If you have any & you're down for a free sample & test, send it's bolt, carrier & hammer out here & I'll get it done so you can test.

Anyhow, Back to the Grindstone for Pauly...

    Godspeed Brother!

    Pauly,

My gun is a vodka special. I ordered the booster piston. Once I get it and you get a chance to finish my parts I'll try them together and post the results. I am crossing my fingers for some good results.

  9. With a topic like this you might want to look at some of the recent threads. This seems to pop up daily. Be prepared for some ridicule (might want to put on your thick skin now). Or in the words of my boot camp company commander, "Stand by to stand by". This meant we were in for a world of hurt.

  10. Mine won't cycle low brass, high brass seems to work fine. With low brass it becomes a single shot. I have the gunfixer plug in it(came with the gun). I have Pauly working his magic on the bolt group right now. Hopefully it will cycle better when he is done. If not I will be looking to purchase the booster piston to see if it helps.

  11. Once you get in there and "do it" you will be amazed how easy it is. You will wonder why you even considered having someone else do it for you. Besides it forces you to learn more about your guns. Just remember if you think you need to get a bigger hammer, STOP and rethink the situation or ask someone for clarification(personal experience). But if you do use the bigger hammer rest assured it is an AK and fixing the screw-up is pretty easy. These guns are quite forgiving.

  12. I agree with Bohound. If you already have a 12 gauge then get the .308. An 870 is a fine weapon and will work for what you need it to. Is it a Saiga 12, no but it will do the job more than adequately. In my opinion you need an semi-auto center fire rifle to fill the gap in your arsenal. The 308 would be a great choice. If price of ammunition is a concern you can get a 7.62 or .223 Saiga. They would also work well for the intermediate shots. Just my $.02.

  13. Yea I realized my mistake. I really don't know what I was thinking except I wanted to hurry and get it done. If nothing else I now understand my aks much better. I even had a second opinion before I jacked it up. I know who not to go to for advice in the future.

Problem fixed. I used a 5/8" brass punch and shimmed up the inside. There is still a little bit of deformation but it went back together just fine. I finished the conversion and reassembled it. The retaining plate went in with out a problem. I will work it a little more but it seems to be in working order.

You have got to love AK's. Even after some monkey with a big hammer jacks it up you can still fix it.
