I filed the top edge of the brake near the notch and now it turns just enough to lock up with the pin, its pretty snug but not totally.

From those pics it looks like my depth is ok which is what I was worried about, the retainer shifts a little bit forward and back so I think my divot is wider than it should be, but when I tighten the bolt pretty good it doesn't move at all. I just didn't want my barrel to explode or something crazy like that, especially after all the $ I put into this thing

Ok so i bought one of those bolt-on handguard retainers from CSS and i got it on fine and everything, but im a bit worried that the groove i ground out of the barrel for the bolt to fit through is too deep. How deep is too deep on that part of the barrel? it looks to me to be the thickest part so i hope im just being paranoid. Also anyone know where i can find a real 74 break for cheaps?

Thanks for the reply! I'd like to replace the FSB at some point but as funds permit, in the mean time if i did the thread adaptor with the real 74 break would that cover up the gap between the break and the FSB?

So, I'm a huge noob. Converted the trigger group no prob(thanks to dinzag parts), anyway I have removed the shroud on the end of the barrel (not without difficulty), i bought the 74 style break 14x1 threaded extra deep from dinzag. Now that the shroud is removed I can see that the threads only go so far down and the barrel diameter get slightly wider, the break won't go down any further. Do I need to thread it the rest of the way down? Also I knicked the barrel where the shroud meets the FSB ever so slightly with the circular cutter , that shouldn't ruin anything right ? I mean it's not even near as deep as the threads. And one more question, the front edge of the FSB looks kinda shoddy where I cut it with the dreml how would you recommend smoothing it out and cleaning it up so it doesn't look like an incompetent fool did it? I'll post pics when i get home even though it's embarrassing
