location: a pretty relaxed outdoor range, even for ny standards. besides the basic safety rules, just dont noticeably rapid fire all the time, paper targets only, no tracer/incindiery rounds. otherwise, whatever. during the workday if theres only a handful of people, theres no RO and we call our own cease fire. the below stories all happened on a weekend:
few weeks ago, went to the range with a buddy of mine just to zero in our scopes and try some new stuff out.
well we took a spot right next to these AR douchebags, one in a pink polo, another was wearing a pink sweater around his neck (seriously.) they were often bragging to the 3 girls they brought with them how they just spent $800 on ammo alone, etc. etc. how expensive their shit is, etc
so my buddy and i get done sighting in our scopes, so we try our hand at switching from right to left-handed shooting. one of the girls is all "why are they DOING that??!?"
and the guy is all "i dunno, probably because he thinks it looks cool." meanwhile all they did was just sit there and shoot from a bench.

couple of days ago, this time i wanted to see how well i could group at 100 yards, by crouching and using my knee to support my arm.
so i put about 20 rounds though 4 different targets on the same board, taking each shot real slow, and sit it out until the next ceasefire, minding my own business, drinking my water and smoking my cigarette.
then this big fat asshole with his buddies on the table to the left of me takes his AR, shoots 30 rounds through my target, then they get in their car and leave. wtf
ok, whateverlater on i try my hand at just shooting lefty so i can get the hang of it. guess someone saw me do a right-to-left switch while i was standing up, and yelled out "nice form, gabe!" in an obvious mocking manner
couple minutes later, said douchebags are getting yelled at by the RO for shooting tracers which burned their target/backboard...

then theres this guy i used to shoot with. worst out of the others above, imo...
total brandwhore. hates AK's, but owns a wasr and thinks its the best AK ever since its his and he's the exception to the rule or some shit
. he only buys armalite (because its the original!), magpul, and throws a fucking eotech and magpul stickers on everything on everything including his car and possibly on his own wife's fat ass. recently bought a benelli shotgun with a bright desert "camo" paintjob on it that looks straight off a Four Loko can, threw an eotech on that too. otherwise quick to hate on a Saiga12 because "its not brandname, bro. see benelli? ITALIAN MADE! i dont like saiga, whats that? oh that, its ok but its not a benelli man!" (exact quote btw). as for AKs he "dont like AK, is innacurate man! i want to buy an arsenal, but for that money id rather buy a Rock River, man. AK is not worth that much, its like a waste bro! but this AK <shows me his wasr with green painted wood, which he painted because he rubbed fucking Ed's Red all over it and ruined the shit>, see is nice man!" get the picture?
so anyway, one day im testing out my Arisaka and a few WW2 vets come up to me to compliment the wood and AA winged sights, and we talk a little bit about the history of it, etc. meanwhile, i could see that he was getting a bit jealous since nobody was giving his brand new Four Loko looking benelli any attention. so what does he do the next day? he "makes friends" with some "old guy" and now hes into milsurp sks and garands n shit. har har
come a couple weeks later after that, we're at the range and im just casually practicing my muzzle discipline and grouping with irons. hes doing his usual, getting his dick hard at the tight 50 yard groups hes getting with his brandname Armalite with brandname eotech and brandname magpul stickers all over it. just another day, right? so his kid is there too and he wants to fire his AK, so he tells him to start shooting, not at his targets, but at MY targets and the fucking noob fuck just magdumps a bunch of stupid shit on my board! and to top it off, after we go to check our targets this motherfucker has the balls to start rubbing in how awesome his AR is at 50 and how my shit is garbage at 100, after his kid just ruined my entire thing. we set up new targets, i practice my groupings again, and then HE starts shooting at MINE and then claims all MY shots, and then tells me how my shit is garbage.
fuck this guy, i stopped talking to him after that.
people need to mind their own fucking business.

and in conclusion: what is it that makes the AR the preferred choice for stupid ignorant dicks?

"bulgarian" ak74 on elk river ertd receiver and us chrome lined barrel
every few hundred rounds or so, the bolt carrier would get stuck in open battery, while it is on its way back (right where the ejector tip is going into the bolt cutout). i look inside, and see the tip of the bullet hitting the bullet guide. the bolt carrier is jammed open, and when i goto check the bolt itself its stuck as well, as opposed to having a little bit of play . i have to take the recoil spring out and pull back on it pretty hard to unjam it. i put it back together and fire another 100+ rounds through it and its fine again, until later on the same problem happens. though there is no fail to extract. it actually throws the empty cases pretty far

even before i changed the recoil spring to a wolff xp 15% this was happening. .
otherwise there have never been keyholing, overgassing, carrier/trunnion smashing, bent rivets, fte issues whatsoever
ammo used is 5.45 spam can milsurp.
i can provide pics if you need to, but tell me what to take a picture of....

ya i used to own one of their guns. on random occasions, bolt carrier and bolt would jam/hang and id have to take the recoil spring out and pull it back real hard to unjam. threw one of those wolff springs in there and the problem was reduced. later on i found out it was too late, my rear trunnion rivets were starting to look like the one in the 3rd pic.
got rid of it.

i bought an ak74 from them in december when they had the special. $503 shipped, ordered directly from them. mailed them a money order. it took 3 months for it to finally arrive, but in the meantime thats 3 months worth of lies and bullshit, and catching them at their own lies.
did the gun turn out good? besides the rear sight being slightly canted the thing is solid, the thing is SOLID (so far).
bad part: chet is an idiot and didnt even include a mag. all that bullshit and not even a fucking mag, the thing came with no mags. also the wood was AKM style not 74.
my friend ordered one at the same time for about the same price. he got his at the same time. but with no mags either. he also ordered a bunch of other stuff, 6 months later STILL not here!! lol wow
i warned them i was going to report them to the atty general, and they still didnt respond back to any of my emails. so after giving them 2 weeks, i finally filed a complaint and sent in all records, including photocopy of actual money order and pictures of the order being endorsed (you can get this info from USPS). also every single convo, invoice and tracking number given to me. even reported it to UPS as stolen, anything to light the fire under his ass. if i didnt do any of this unecessary shit, id probably still be waiting for it.
chet is clever, he even said he could deduct the cost of shipping the money order to him, bringing the total to under $500. why? because anything over $500 is grand larceny, and under $500 is misdemeanor. i chose not to deduct for this reason.
dont order shit from them.

Is it a brand new rifle? Does it have any parts that have been switched out, like the hammer spring for instance?
brand new rifle.
i will try both options then. i have an ak74 with a wolff spring xtra power in it, ill test it with that spring, then lighter ammo, then both. if i still get the same result, ill call up Arsenal and use the warranty.

im iffy on recoil buffers. would rather a wolff spring xtra power if i were to go that route.
though i used to have an io inc ak47c, and fired these same softpoints out of it. after a while the gun would jam, and then the rear trunnion rivets started to bend and come out. i can understand this on a cheap ass rifle like an IO or whatever, but not an $800 Arsenal.

just got this thing 3 days ago, and put 250 rounds through it today for the first time, and this is what happens. no jams, though. notice the silver shit, the carrier is definitely mashing into the thing.
the rivets dont appear to be deforming...so far
question is, is it overgassed? or the 154 grain herters soft point i was mostly shooting out of the thing?
btw, is the rear trunnion of this thing supposed to have that small U shaped indent?

How wide is the sling you're using? Wider than 1 1/4"?
the one i have currently on is 1"
the sling is 1.5 inches wide

im guessing if someone cut the barrel to 16 inches, it would still be more accurate than your average AK due to the thicker receiver?
also wondering if its possible to put a brake on it, due to the thicker barrel,,,
these things ive never seen done before,,, curious to see

no idea what kind of attatchment it uses.
currently, i put a 10x32 nut in the stock hole, and put a typical swivel stud and an qd swivel on it. its not wide enough to hold the wide russian sling...
please help. thanks

cant seem to find this anywhere. anyone know where to get a krinkov triangle stock swivel? trying to put it on that polymer FSE krink stock. i have a qd swivel in there already but its too narrow for the wide russian sling.

well, all issues fixed, the bakes all fit now and the dustcover issue has been fixed, just bent it a little and now its perfect. put a hundred rounds through it. no problems so far. only thing now is the slight cant in the rear sight itself, the block is straight so i wont mess with it.

Well, that sucks. I was hoping for better. If you don't want to sell it the rear sight cant can sometimes be easily fixed. In some cases the pins on the sight leaf are bent a little. This happens when they leave the factory. A new rear sight can sometimes fix it. The other options is to buy an adjustable RPK rear sight. If it's the rear block then thats trouble. I'd shoot it first to see for sure though. Whatever happens I hope you find the 74 you were meant to be with.

yeah, id really hate to sell it, being i went thru all this trouble and its my personal xmas present to myself (though late)...
ill play around with the rear sight, see if i can fix it.
another thing i noticed, the gap at the mag release is too small. my polymer mags fit, but none of my bakelites do.
as for the dust cover,seems its not short.. what happens is, when i put it on its fine, when i charge it though the gap between the dust cover and the rear sight block widens and ends up being held in place in the slot by about 1mm.
i cleaned the barrel. still dont know if its chrome lined or not. or just crowned

so i finally got it.
looks good and all, nice finish and i actually kind of like the wood.

-didnt come with magazines, sling, or cleaning kit
-the dust cover is a bit short
-rear sight is canted
-barrel is filthy with soot, i cant even tell if its chrome lined or not until i clean it
theres a gun show next week. im about so just sell this thing, and get an arsenal. sick of this shit.
