I've used red RIT dry powder cut with mineral spirits
You have to run mixture through a coffee filter to catch the sodium crystals that catalyzes out of the solution.
Then I paint it on, let it dry, and repeat for desired shade.
Then I sealed it with tung oil, but you can use whatever you prefer.

I have a Colt branded mil-spec size Rogers Super Stock and mil-spec PSA 7075 buffer and tube assembly. STock is a like-new take-off. Lighter than the MOE, locks tighter than the CTR. Lightest AR15 stock setup available without going carbon fiber.

Zastava PAP M70 2nd generation with scope rail on side, not 1st with railed dust covers.
Quality is on par with an Arsenal in my book.
Worth every penny if you can find them less than $1k.
