'Themajickman', I miraculously survived an accident when I flipped and totaled my 911 Carrera in 2003 so I am Paul, 'The Magic Man'. It's just a weird way of spelling it because every other variation seemed to be taken. Simple as that, I ended up paralyzed from the neck down and I use voice recognition software to operate my computer. Keeps me busy and helps me not be so depressed, life is great woo hoo.

The BHO is different on the S12. However, I think the .410 and the S20 share the same BHO. Here are some photos that might help.
the pictures definitely help show the difference. Greatly appreciated, thanks, Paul

The link you put is for another part but, I know which one you're talking about. And I agree with you that they should be compatible.

The Tromix lever fits my 410 fine.
Greg at CSS says that they're not the same. Maybe factory ones won't interchange but maybe the Tromix will. Do you know where I can pick up a Tromix?

Why are you wondering about the date of manufacture?
just curious I guess, being new to Saiga shotguns I just wanted to know all about it. Thanks

I've decided to go ahead and order the one from Amazon for $70. Hopefully it will hold up. I like the fact that the laser has the switch which will mount on the pistol grip. It seems like it would be a plus to have something like that if you don't really have time to aim.

I was wondering if anybody knows if the bolt hold open lever is the same for the saiga 12 and the saiga 410? I'm thinking about sending my parts to Pauly to do his GlassBolt process and one the parts he asks to be sent is the BHO lever. Rather than remove the one from my gun right now I would prefer to just buy an extra one to send to him. The only ones I can find are for the saiga 12 so I'm hoping that there are the same. Thanks all, Paul

depends on how you define cheap, I guess, but this one is pretty popular
Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 1xRed Dot
about 85$ on amazon
I'm sure the Bushnell is much better quality and the price is very reasonable. The one I mentioned is about $70 on Amazon and includes the laser and the mount so, it makes you wonder how good can it be?.

I was looking for a cheap red dot sight for my Saiga that was still at least somewhat decent, any suggestions on what cheap ones are good and where to buy them would be great.
I picked up this cheap one on Amazon. For the price I figured it's worth a try. Who knows, it may fall right off after the first shot. LOL. But I figured the 410 doesn't kick that bad so....

Here are some pictures of my 'in progress' conversion. Once I get everything together I'll definitely get a picture of it when it's finished.
ATI adjustable/folding stock
Hogue pistol grip
alumalite barrel shroud
Tromix modified G2 FCG
Tromix Bolt on Charging Handle
CSS trigger guard
UAG red dot/laser sight (hopefully it won't fall apart on the first shot)
factory 10 round magazine
I'm shipping everything off to have a profile/polish job done.

Your gun was imported by Tennessee Guns Inc., in Knoxville TN. It says TGI, not TBI, although it may well be hard to read. If your serial number started with "09" your gun was made in 2009, as you note. Sometimes they sit for a while at the manufacturer before being sold.
thanks for the information! I guess my eyes aren't what they used to be, LOL.

I guess I'm just curious so I'm trying to figure out who imported my 410. There's nothing on the box except 'made in Russia' and markings on the receiver are 'TBI Knox TN' (it also has the serial number and Izhmash and other information stamped). I may be wrong but I thought the importer was stamped on the receiver so, the only thing I can find with 'TBI Knox TN' is the Tennessee Bureau of investigation which I doubt imported the weapon. So any help in this would be greatly appreciated.
I posted the serial number in another thread trying to figure out the year of manufacture. H 092xxxx2T. Which I believe to means it was manufactured in 2009 even though I just bought it this past January 2012.
My apologies if this has been covered in other threads but I did quite a bit of reading and couldn't find any relevant information. Thanks, Paul

I bought a brand-new Saiga 410 on January 19, 2012 for $330 from an outfit in Florida on GunBroker. The serial number is H0920xxxx2T. So based on the serial number, it was manufactured in 2009, is that correct?

After reading this thread looks like nobody has had any experience with changing the puck. I'm hoping something has changed recently. In order to be in 922r compliance I'm going to be changing the piston/puck in my Saiga 410 and am hoping someone can recommend one for me. There are multiple offerings from different manufacturers and I was wondering if anybody had any experience with any of them, good or bad. Tapco, twister, Magnum, standard etc. etc.. I will be adding a pistol grip with out relocating the FCG so it is necessary for me to change other parts to get the compliance number I need and the piston/puck will be one of them. Thank you in advance, Paul

For what it's worth. It might be a good idea, (although a bit involved) to generate a spreadsheet of what will work in what magazines as a reference guide. I know quite a bit of it has been covered in different places here on the forum. Forgive my ignorance but, are there any magazines that will will work for the 2 1/2 inch.410 shotshells?

I'm going to order a couple factory 10 round magazines to keep loaded with the PDX1 for home defense and use the SGM magazine for practicing with whatever will actually fit in it.
-
They'll probably work just fine. They are 3" after they have been fired. Go back through the forum, there are several very thorough entries about shell sizes and what works where. Illustrations too.
I saw the thread with the illustrations which was helpful but They won't even load in the Surefire magazine. They're just too darn long

So I bought my wife a Saiga 410 for home defense and decided to do some enhancements. I've been doing an lot of reading on the forums and gathering as much information as I can so I can be relatively knowledgeable.
I'm going to go ahead and do the FCG conversion, pistol grip folding stock and profile and polish the bolt and carrier etc., etc.
So, I went ahead and ordered a Surefire 10 round magazine thinking that the factory 4 round magazine just didn't have the capacity necessary for a good home defense stand. The magazine says it's for 3" shells so I went ahead and ordered some Winchester 3" PDX1 (not cheap stuff) and some Fiocchi high velocity 3" #8 shells. So the magazine arrives and lo and behold right on the label it says it won't work with Winchester PDX1 ammunition and neither will the Fiocchi. I measured the shells and they are 2.75" , so now I'm wondering exactly what 3" shells actually work in the surefire magazines? Will I only be able to load some weak ass 3" birdshot loads for self-defense? Needless to say I'm a little bit disappointed because I have a magazine in one hand and ammunition in the other and neither one of them do me any good. Maybe I just needed to do some more reading, LOL. So now I'm wondering if the factory 10 round magazine will handle the PDX1 and Magnum loads (they do fit in the 4 round factory mags). Has anybody tried this ammunition in a factory 10 round mag? I'd hate to spring for one and be in the same situation that I am with the Surefire. I feel like returning the surefire and buying two factory magazines. More expensive but if I can use the self-defense ammunition that I bought it'll be worth it.

i just installed a tapco galil on mine and i like it!
what modifications did you have to do to mount the tapco galil handguard on your 410?
-
It would be really helpful if you could post a more legible copy of that letter. I for one, could not read it. I also believe, from what I was able to read, that you have the page is mixed up in order. Thanks

I'm asking this question because I've read in various forums that shotshell's are being deformed after being loaded in magazines for as little as a few days. In a home defense situation a loaded weapon should be ready for action at a moments notice. In other words, load it and put it away until needed. If Saiga shotguns do actually have this problem, then You would either have to load it at a moments notice or empty and reloaded every day. And in my opinion, that would just not be practical. Am I right, is this a serious problem or am I just overreacting here?

Took me a few minutes to read your post, kept getting distracted by some Blonde out of the corner of my eye. LOL. You're right about the ammo, so since the 12 is just too much for my wife, I am guessing that the 20 would be my best bet. It already has some modifications which will save me money, plus it's already broke in.

My wife carries a Bersa Thunder 380 CC. Very compact and very accurate and very manageable for a woman. Loaded up with some Hornady Critical Defense ammo and you're set to rock 'n roll
