  3. Is there a thread on the florida shoot w/ pics ? Haven't been here in awhile as i still have to switch to IE just to view this site and be able to reply . Everything else i use Mozilla Firefox. Still don't know why, and am fed up with trying remedies as nothing yet has worked. Guess i'm cursed.

Anyway are there any pics and text on the Florida Shoot ? Could'nt find anything with a search............ Thanks

  4. or, reregister using the name ioner42, but with a capital I instead, to make your user name appear the same. I dont think that will work, but if it does, sweet. I cant look at or help you with a buggy account anymore, but I can try to help you try things that you havent thought of yet. Like I said, I cannot recreate the issue on my end.

is there any way you can plug your computer into a different internet connection at a friend's house and see if you can log in? just to eliminate your connection and hardware as a culprit?

Reregistering didn't work. Everything was too close to my current info and email addy would have to be changed....................

    No on the 2nd question............

  5. Bvamp, just tried it on Mozilla and it never would load the page. It's seems to just be one thing after another with this. I cleared all my cookies the other day and that did'nt help.

    What about reregistering:

Would it be possible to register all over again using my same user name but maybe use all upper case letters and change a few letters or numbers in my password. Do you think it would make any difference or be worth trying?

I'll try your idea tomorrow, givin it up for now......................

    Thanks

  6. Well , yesterday was pretty interesting. I tried to post some of the info that Bvamp requested and everytime i tried to access the site i got the ISP error page and could not access even using IE which i'm on right now.

That's the first time i've ever got it and it was with IE and Mozilla. Could'nt get thru till now.

Anyway................ Bvamp, i'm not much of a computer whiz but tried to get some of the info you requested.

    I have Windows XP version 5.1.2600 Serv.pack 2.0

    Internet Explorer version 7.0

Have not cleared any spyware or used any registry cleaners

I use AVG Free edition 7.5 and Windows Defender version 1.24.5611.0

I think i have Windows firewall

That's about all i can give you , hope it helps, as of right now everything is the same. When i log in with Mozilla it pops a window up that says i have logged in as loner42 and then goes to the page i had bookmarked and shows" welcome guest" at the top of the page, so it is not recognizing me as being registered.

Hope you can figure this shit out........................

    Thanks

PS i'm on DSL and am upgrading to 6.0 , which is supposed to activate today.........

  7. I thought I had stumbled on something good with that password tip. One of my boards, bersatalk.com, will act like it logs me in but everytime I try to post it asks me to login so I can't post. Weird.

That's exactly what i'm going thru. I think it's from a recent update on either my server or Saiga-12's. It only happens on Saiga-12. My last post with using Mozilla was Nov.22 . Sure wish someone could figger it out................

  8. Not sure about how to explain this but here goes. I use Mozilla Firefox for my browser for everything. I'm registered on maybe 10-15 gun websites, Saiga-12 is one of them. I also use Internet Explorer once in awhile but not very often

About2 mos ago all of a sudden i could'nt post a reply to a classified ad on the saiga forum. I tried everything and it would not let me post and still won't. I can't post on any saiga forum , none of them.

When i attempt to post it asks me to log in. I do and it says i've successfully logged in but as soon as i go to a forum it does'nt acknowledge my user name at the top left of the page and no control panel. The only way i can access the site like right now is if i use Internet Explorer.

Saiga-12 is the only site i have this problem with. Every other site is still normal. I sure would appreciate some help from one of you computer whiz's or gurus out there cuz its a pain in the ass to have to switch over to IE everytime i want to cruise the Saiga site.

Did i mention that i still get Email notifications to the for sale forum and some other threads that i subscribed to before this started?

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Just saw this post since I am looking for a way to mount a Doctor Red Dot or Eotech Sight.

I have had very poor results with the use of a Russian Kobra 3 sight. The Gun does not cycle with the scope mounted on the receiver. The scope was also mounted to another s-12 with the same results, using light to heavy shot loads and slugs. I have sent this gun out for repair when it did not cycle only to receive it back 2 times with modifications to the bolt and gas systems, while all the while the mounting of the sight on the receiver was the main cause of the problem.

I am currently looking for a way to mount a Red Dot sight that does NOT utilze the side mount on the receiver. Anyone with suggestions? I have been preparing this gun to shoot in 3 Gun USPSA competion.

3gunRJL, could you elaborate on how using the side mount caused the gun to not cycle? Can't think of how one has anything to do with the other.

    Thanks

  10. I'll see if I can find the thread reply from Jammer and post it. I asked the same question specific to the S12 a few weeks ago and Jammer has a good work around. You will need a press. It involves a cross bar through the magwell opening with a barrel support that sits on top of it. Now he just takes a pipe, longer and slightly larger in diameter than the barrel and slides it over the barrel down to the end of the front trunion. You press down against the front trunion via the pipe, while the barrel is supported by the cross bar and support. I should also add, but assume that you know, that this is done after pressing out the barrel pin.

I'll see if I can find Jammers post and link it.

This is exactly what i was lookin for. Had a similar idea and think this is the way to go.

Sorry to all if i came across like a smartass but i posted this on about 5 diff. gun boards and everybody keeps suggesting the extension and pennies or nickels . I did not want to try that method for fear of the pushbar kicking off because it was on an angle.

dyi, This is the first time i've tried to remove a barrel from a finished receiver, which is why i posted this . I did not want to use the above mentioned methods because they don't appear to be all that safe.

Maybe if i had stated that from the getgo we would'nt be discussing this right now.

Again, my apologies if i offended anyone and thank you all for your help...................

  11. bp11a.jpg

First, you'll need to use items 2, 3 and 3a to push out your barrel pin (this is in the top part of the barrel trunnion). The flat aluminum plate (2) cradles your barrel trunnion and allows the pin to go through it as you press it.

A good rule of thumb when removing AK pins is that the pins remove toward the side the empties fly out of, and reassemble from the opposite direction.

The long square double bar setup (1) on the right separates and you stick your AK barrel down into it. The bars close up against the barrel and support the trunnion.

Since you do not have an exposed trunnion, you'll need the long extension to fit through the back side of the receiver and past the rear trunnion.

Make sure you use copper or brass shims on your breech face when pressing the barrel out. Item (4) is used when you have an exposed barrel trunnion, but it not long enough to reach out past the rear of the complete receiver.

MAKE SURE YOU FOLD YOUR REAR SIGHT LEAF FORWARD WHEN PRESSING THE BARREL OUT OR IN. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU"LL TEAR IT OFF.

ALWAYS WEAR PROPER PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT WHEN DOING THIS TYPE OF WORK. A pin flying at you under 20t of pressure is not fun.

First of all, let me say that i'm not exactly new to these methods of AK building. I've built 5 diff. styles of AK's and 6 or 7 FALs. I understand what each component in that particular kit is for and

what they're used for. I will also be removing the rear sight block before removing the barrel as i'm gonna mod. that also. Already have the front sightblock and gas block removed. I appreciate your help but i'm wondering if you're getting the whole picture here.

If you have an AK handy, remove the top cover, recoil spring, bolt carrier and bolt, and the buttstock. Now look at that receiver and tell me how you would push against the breech end of the barrel with anything, much less a bolt with a nut on it about 3-4 inches long and then put a socket and extension on it with the ejector, the cross support pin, and the rear trunnion with tang in the way. The only way you can do that is to have a set up that would be approx. 10 1/2 inches long leaned out at an angle and that would be inviting a disaster.

I think i have an idea that will be safe and will work but will take some tjme and experimentation and some fab work to come up with. I'm not in any hurry so it's not a problem.

It's a whole different ballgame when your trying to do this with a fully assembled receiver in the way.

I really do appreciate your suggestions and willingness to help. When you stop and think about it, not too many folks ever want to remove their barrel after the gun is finished.

Will keep ya'll posted on what i finally come up with. Thanks.................

  12. You can use this: http://ak-builder.com/ak/modules.php?name=...page&pid=10 with a long socket wrench extension through the rear of the receiver.

Unless i'm missing somethin here, i don't see how you could pull or press a barrel OUT of a complete intact receiver with what they're showing in that kit. All they show is pressing a barrel out of a demilled trunnion, and pressing a barrel INTO a receiver thats got the trunnion installed.

What is a long socket wrench (whatever that is, deep socket?) going to do for removing the barrel from a complete receiver ?? I'm just not gettin it. Please explain....................

    Thanks

  13. Looking for someone who sells or has a good idea or method for a press fixture to press the barrel off of a barreled receiver. Haven't been able to find anything so far.

I'm wanting to remove the barrel from a S-308 Saiga for some mods.

    Thanks

  14. Barrelled receivers can be turned down to any diameter on a good milling machine. I'm talking about a REAL mill, not a Harbor Freight chinese toy mill. You hold it vertically against an angle plate so it's hanging off the back edge of the table. Swing the head around and indicate the barrel straight up and down and sweep the diameter in so you are concentric to the bore.

Then use a boring head with the boring bar reversed and" VOILA", you have a Vertical Lathe.

Turn to the diameter you want and thread the barrel while you are centered over the bore.

Works great, do it all the time. You just have to find some one with a good vertical mill that knows what they're doin...................
