  1. I too, had this dilemna - and went with this one:

    ez-sling

For only $25 including shipping, it is hard to beat. Getting ready to order a second for the AR. THere are also videos on the site which show how to install and use, very good for someone who has little experience with the 3-pt types.

What I like to use. I like the fact I can use it with all my guns.

  2. TacStar T6 is the third light on my Saiga-12. The first two (not TacStar) lasted less than 100 rounds per light. Won't mention brands as this gun gets abused and it could have been several factors. What I do know is this TacStar has seen 750+ rounds with no problems. Beam is far brighter than my LED's. Their mount is simple and very sturdy. It would slip a bit after a few trips to the range, so I put a layer of black hockey tape under the mount and haven't had any movement since. Light, mount and tape switch was about $75 shipped. You get what you pay for.

So far, no problems with the tape switch with over-heating. I don't have 100% faith in this style switch, so I carry spare tape and original butt on-off switches in buttstock bag.

nice looking saiga - where did you end up mounting your pressure switch, can't see in photo but assume on the side of front handguard..

  3. I have a Limbsaver slip on..... works on my 12 and 223......

wasn't the cheapest thing in the world, but works like a charm

Large is what you need, already checked.

Does the pad interfere with the bolt cycling at all - shortstroking, or am I overanalyzing the physics of all this.

  4. Hello

I visited my ol' standby Wolf 12 gauge depot, "Cheaperthandirt.com" in Fort Worth to score some slug shells to replace what I burned at the range last weekend. They typically sell 'em for $125/250, and since they, like me, are in Texas, shipping is usually cheap and kind of offsets the sales tax that I have to pay (since we're both in Texas...)

Well, to my surprise, the price had spiked from +- $125 a case to $185 a case for the Wolf 2-3/4" 1 oz. rifled slugs. Whoa! Not exactly cheaper than dirt.....

So in a panic, I checked out Midway, and found they have the slugs in stock and are selling them at the $124/case price still, so I bought two, and since they also had Wolf .308 in stock (!) I picked up a case of them as well.

Don't know how long those prices will last, but it appears the ammo draught is getting better and worse at the same time...It's available, but it looks like it's gonna eat more of yer' lunch soon...

    Just a "heads-up..."

You can thank the FED for lowering interesting rates for the benefit of Wall Street in their attempt to prevent the market from going belly up - effectively making the dollar worth less abroad. Expect all imported goods and food to rise due to their decision to screw the middle class....

  5. Yes. it comes with a velcro strip. Just peel and stick.

Personally, I had to sand down the side of my vertical grip so that the switch would lay flat. Just depends on what kind of switch/grip you have. Some grips have a built in recessed channel to accept a tape switch.

Did you get the tacstar switch? If so, any problems with heat or not working. I assume it is momentary on as long as i depressed? I would prefer one that you pressed once, light on, press again, light off. Thanks for the help.

  6. Chances are, your gas ports (4ea) in the barrel are not aligned properly with the corresponding hole in the gas block.

Remove the gas regulator and peer inside the gas block with a flashlight. You should be able to see four gas port holes in the barrel. Most guns in this last batch have the gas ports drilled too far forward. The forward most port is usually completely blocked and the middle two are partially blocked.

nope. all four holes present and visible. could it not be broken in enough. I got about 50-60 rounds through it. I though the break in was only to cycle low power on 1 though...

I will check tonite. If this is the case, is there anything that can be done that does not involve a major rework? Will it pose any issues down the road if I stick to full power shells and scrap the idea of the low power stuff?

  8. Even on setting 2, it will not properly cycle the low recoil stuff. This is not birdshot (haven't tried that yet). It is 00 buck - low recoil, Fichochi to be exact (1050 fps as opposed to the Federal 1325fps I normally use). Not a huge deal, I got them so my wife could enjoy the shotgun too. Just curious as to why it is not functioning.

On setting 1, the bolt does not even move.

On setting 2, it goes halfway back and the shell jams on the way out.

    Anyone else have this problem?

  9. I want to add a light to the Saiga 12 and was hoping to get some feedback/recommendations here.

Is one mounted under the front handguard (via rail) have any advantages to just getting a standard low profile side AK mount and placing it directlyover the receiver? These are basically my options. Pros and cons of each?

Also, what is a good light that can take the recoil that will not break the bank?

    Thanks all.
