  1. The mags are designed to fit tight.

Make sure your gun and Magazine are unloaded. Place the front hook in its correct place and grab the front bottom of the mag and pull very firmly back towards you. You will not break it. It should lock into place. You may have to tap on the mag release to release the mag.

Do this 10 times or so and it should be perfect. You can also file the bottom of the tab a little at a time until it fits. It will NOT void the warranty. These mags are very strong and are made to fit tight. Some guns will be tighter than others.

Please call me if you are still having problems.

    Greg

  2. I shot both mags in 3 different guns. My Tromix(mag well removed) and 2 NIB unfired 19" and 24". I shot around 250 rounds total. Federal #7.5 Walmart bulk pack, Remington OO buck, slugs, #6 and #8. Winchester 7.5 and 3" #4. All worked perfect with no issues at all and cycled very fast. I think these are outstanding mags. I see zero wear on the feed lips, just made them shiny and fed faster. I have left my 308 25 rd mags loaded for a year now and they work perfect. I would think Surefire and Dupont have been in the business long enough to create a polymer that will not creep under the pressure required. Like Cobra said, only time will tell.

I know this is a new item and there are some questions about how they will hold up. They come with a five year manufacturer warranty if there is ever a problem with them.

  3. Greg, Just ordered a pair of them on your website! Looking forward to trying them out. So far I am very happy with my x39 Surefire mags, I'm sure these will have similar results! :)

PS. How is it looking for a shipping date on this order I placed today?

If everything ships in the way they are telling me, I should be caught up by the first week of Jan. You will get an email notice when it's your turn.

    Thanks,

    Greg

  4. My Dremel can hardly wait! One is going to be an 8 rounder and I will keep the other one as a 13 rounder for the novelty. As soon as Christmas is over I will be ordering more. :super:

ETA: What ridge do I have to cut under to make it an 8 rounder? The one above your logo or the one below it? Plus do I need to cut off any spring coils? Thanks!

Actually you would want to cut it just below the second rib from the bottom, for an 8 rounder. You gotta leave plenty of room for the spring and follower.

Yeah they're long alright! Not really much different to scale than a x39 with a 40 rdr maybe? Hell I think they're badass! You can cut them back if you want to ( like Greg said, I'll be more than happy to cut them back for you for cheap). That's the beauty of the design.

In loading and hand cycling the mag, at least with this one, it would not load on a closed bolt at all, but was very easy to load with 12 rds.

All the rounds cycled perfectly by hand.

Can't wait to range test this baby tomorrow! Thank you Phil! Looks like a VERY high quality mag here! The follower comes up very strong.

Cobra is correct. I cut one to the second from the bottom very easily with a chop saw. I did not alter the spring. Actually holds 9 perfect.

  5. Santa came a little early.

I received 2 sample Surefire Saiga 12 mags today.

I am really impressed with them. They are very solid and smooth feeding. I inserted them into 6 different Saiga 12's and they fit very tight in 5 of the six. No movement at all. The 6th was extremely tight and after taking it in and out a few times it fit perfect.

They actually hold 13 rds. I had no problem inserting them with 13rds loaded on a closed bolt with my stock guns. Some people may have trouble inserting them fully loaded on a closed bolt and that is why they are still calling them a 12rd magazine.

They are a little long, but can easily be cut down to 10, 8 or 5 rds if desired.

Looks like it will be very easy to modify these to fit a magwell.

Here is a picture next to a 10 rd AGP. I will shoot 200 rds through it tomorrow and give a report.

The regular shipment will start to come in next week. I should be caught up on pre-orders with in a few weeks.

Email notices will be sent the day before your mags are shipping.

    Thanks for everyone's patience.

Cobra, your sample mag is on the way now.

    Greg

    we need 8 round mags not 10 , 12 or 13

I have no projected delivery date for the 8's or 10's. I am sure Cobra would be willing to modify as many of these as you would like to an 8rd if you do not want to do it yourself.

  8. What is a polychoke and how well does it work with slugs?

It is an adjustable choke. Allows you to go from extra full to slugs by rotating the sleeve. I shot a 3 gun match a few weeks ago and we had a stage that started with 4 IPSC targets for slugs at 45 yrds. 4 for 4 with my polychoke.

    Greg

  9. Are these made of the same type of plastic as the Surefire mags?

Comparing the two I would say they are different materials. The forearm resin appears to be loaded up with glass fiber and is very hard with zero gloss. The mags look like a more convention unreinforced resin . . . my guess anyway.

Same exact material. All products have 33% glass blended with Dupont Zytel polymer. The forearm mold had been sand blasted to remove gloss on the finish. It is very hard because the material is thicker.

    Greg

I had heard they were using a 50% glass filled high temp nylon because of barrel heat.

They do sound like the material is harder when they get dropped, butterfingers me.

You are 100% correct. I misunderstood what Phil had told me. They are a Dupont high temp polymer blended with 50% glass. There is a difference between the Dupont blended polymer and "plastic".

I have an a.r.m.s. throw mount that does not even scratch the rail. My mistake.

    Greg

  10. the description says something about "Not for use with throw lever/quick connect accessories", I'm a picatinny virgin, does that imply that I couldnt use a folding forearm grip on these?

The rifle Tri-rails are all Gen 2. For use with all accessories.

The shotgun versions are all Gen 1 and are only for accessories that are attached by fixed hardware.(allen bolts, etc.) The throw lever/quick connect attachments are a little loose on the rails.

The folding grip will work great if it is attached with allen bolt or any other screw type hardware.

  11. I spoke to Surefire today and with the holidays, shipping is taking longer than expected. I should start receiving them next week.

They also said they ran 2000 rounds through with no problems.

The mags are 13.5" long and actually hold 13rds. They are still selling it as a 12rd because with the bolt closed it is hard to get the mag in the gun loaded with 13. With the bolt open it slips in easily loaded with 13. They are still calling it a 12rd mag.

They are in full production right now and we will start shipping the early pre-orders out next week and should be caught up on all orders to this point by the first week of Jan.

Yes the mag is long at 13.5", but can be cut down easily if you prefer it shorter using the existing floor plate and cutting below another ridge. I will post a picture as soon as I am able to.

Anybody that has ordered from me will receive an email when it is your turn for your order to ship.

    Thanks,

    Greg
