John Weinberg 0
I am considering adding an external adjustable choke to my Saiga 12 shotgun. It would have to be external and adjustable because I also intend to fire slugs. It is my understanding that you cannot use a choke when firing slugs. It is my desire to duplicate the tight patterns produced by the Benelli M4 when firing 00-buck or 04 shot. Has anybody patterned such loads through a Saiga 12? How do the patterns compare between a smooth bore Saiga and a similar Benelli? What chokes have been successfully used by the group? Who installs them in the Saiga 12? Also, I have one of the older Saigas. I understand that certain of the newer ones have a hold open knob. I am also of the belief that such a knob can be added to a Saiga. Has anybody had experience with that? While I had hoped to have Tromix do all of my work, it is my understanding that they only do set modifications, not including either of the above items, at this time. Thanks, John Weinberg
kresk 10,063
Look up Polychokes--one is made for the S12 and affixes externally to a threaded barrel or can otherwise be attached. You're looking for a bolt hold open lever. It can be installed but you will have to shorten up the right side of the hammer to accomodate it space-wise. Use the search function here on the forum and you'll find lots of info that is already here.
