Ryan M 0
Hi, I'm saving up for a basic conversion on a .223, but I'd rather have it done as locally as possible so I can save some money on shipping and whatnot. I live in the Portland area, but anywhere in Oregon would be better then sending it off to another state. Anybody know of someone refutable around here who could do it? Big Boss 21
You don't consider yourself reputable? :-D Converting is easy! I was nervous as hell, but once I took the plunge, I kicked myself for being so worried. Seriously, I have no technical experience, but I got mine done. This is the first AK rifle I've ever owned, so it's not like I was an expert with the things either. Trust me, it's simple, check out some links : -Conversion video : http://vimeo.com/2787027 <--it's for the x39, but the process is the same -Conversion website guide : http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/ <--the info is old, but between this and that you should have all you need to do this -Parts : http://www.dinzagarms.com/index.html You'll need a good drill and a Dremel tool or similar rotary tool. If you get nervous about anything, just post on here, you'll be back on the right track in no time. Edited March 1, 2009 by Big Boss
AgentLQ 3
Do you feel confident with a dremel? I'm in NE I've done three conversions with my friends. The last one we figured out some shortcuts that make life easier. But yeah, all you need is a dremel, and a drill. Some cutting wheels and a really good bit for grinding those rivets. I'd recommend you doin it yourself. Save the horrendous amounts of money... buy ammo. I'd be willing to assist if you want. PM me.
Ryan M 0
Thanks for the info and advice guys... I think you've got me convinced. Doing it myself looks quite a bit easier then I expected and a hell of alot cheaper then the alternative. Probably won't be anything I can't handle, but I'll definately post again if I have any questions during the project.
