  1. Has anybody shot the Wolf 154 grain sp ammo out of their 16 inch barrel? I am wondering how fast it will exit the barrel? Would the Barnaul 125gr sp be a better choice? Any other soft point recommendations? Would like something that in a pinch would take up to deer size game at 100 yards. I am planning on buying a 1/2 case and would like to stick to one brand and type of round for all situations.
  2. Is anybody aware of a USA manufactured butt stock for the saiga 7.62 that is identical to factory stock? Is there any markings on the factory butt stock that specifies it's country of origin? Do all of the components that are on the GCA list have markings specifying the country of origin? If the listed parts are not marked, how would the ATF determine whether or not a part was manufactured here or abroad? For example and just for sake of argument. Lets say Joe Blo found a used Saiga butt stock at a gun show table that was identical to the factory stock and had made in the us
  3. Exactly! ATF makes whatever wierd rulings they wish at a given time. Unfortunately all we can do is comply as best we know how, but IMO you always want to err on the side of caution. It's not worth $50, $100, or even $200 to cut a corner when you are dealing w/ these people. They have no sense of humor, almost limitless budget, and if you come to their attention they can grind you into the pavement. Do you really think that the big importers would be paying good money to convert rifles if it was legal w/o doing it? They pay lawyers to find the proper way of doing things. They are not go
  4. You're looking at the wrong thing. A shotgun w/ a barrell length < 18" or OAL < 26 is generally going to be a SBS (Short Barrelled Shotgun) A rifle w/ a barrell length < 16" or OAL < 26" is a SBR You are looking at the definitions for NFA weapons. If your Saiga rifle had a barrell length under 16" it would be a SBR, and from from what I understand it would not be importable because the 68 ban forbid the importation of any NFA weapon for civilian use. It would essentially be a pre-sample. I may be wrong, but if so I'm sure someone will correct me. I just followed
  5. I will call the mag generic at this point. I have looked through many of the posts here and many of the 922r post seem to repeat the same thing. Some of them start out with "I am not a lawyer but....." It seems like there has been a lot of interpretation with out confirmation. I still can not find the legal language that prohibits somebody from running a hi cap mag in the unmodified Saiga (sporting rifle). I will continue searching because I would really like to pin this down. If somebody can post the specific legal language and a link to the source I would very much appreciate it. I would li
  6. I just picked up a NIB Saiga 7.62 with a 16 inch barrel today. Included with the gun was a factory 10 round plastic mag and a factory 30 round steel mag. I have read numerous post here about 922r compliance issues and mentioned this to the dealer. He insists that it is ok to run the 30 round mag in the gun as is. I went to the ATF website and read over the 922r regs and I don't see any mention of magazine capacity. Has anybody ever contacted the ATF to get an answer on this issue? Thanks. Eric
